Difference Between Sunni and Wahabi

Sunni vs Wahabi

The major difference between Sunni and Wahabi is the beliefs and rituals. Sunnis are in majority and almost 90% percent of Muslims around the world belong to Sunni sect whereas the members of Wahabi movement are located in Saudi Arab. There are a few main and major as well as many secondary differences between the Sunni and Wahabi Muslims which caused these sects to be cut off from each other and emerge independently.

The major difference between them is that Wahabis believe that Prophet Muhammad should be praised only as a human being whereas Sunnis show extra special care and respect towards the Prophet of Islam.

Sunni Muslims celebrate the birthday of the Holy Prophet and arrange Meelaad. Meelaad is a form of gathering in which the Sunni Muslims get together and praise the Holy Prophet. The birthdays of Sufi saints are also celebrated with much dedication and enthusiasm. The day of their deaths are commemorated in the form of Urs. Wahabi Muslims do not believe in celebrating and practicing all these events which are very strongly rooted in Islam. Wahabis call these practices of events as unlawful and wrongful innovations. Wahabis also believe that this is as close as to shirk or polytheism and Sunnis follow the ways of infidel Hindus.

Sunni Muslims believe that Prophet Muhammad is Nur and still present in this world. Whereas Wahabis do not believe in using pious individuals as intermediaries when asking Allah as they consider it shirk or polytheism. Sunnis believe in the saints and mysticism whereas Wahabis do not believe in mysticism, intercession and prostration as well. Sunni Muslims visit the tombs of the saints and perform tawassul for the blessings of Allah whereas it is the greatest sin for a Wahabi.

Sunni Muslims believe in four imams of fiqah or Islamic laws such as Hanfi, Hanbli, Malakii and Shaafeyii whereas Wahabi does not follow an Iman in Fiqh. Wahabi Muslims are a group of fundamentalists and have an orthodox version Islam. Wahabis in Saudi Arab do not allow their females to work side by side with their men and they also are not allowed to drive a car. The women are treated as third rate citizens and they are bound to wear a long abayaa or garment to cover them from head to toe. Sunni Muslims are moderate and believe in the equality of women as suggested by Islam.

There are many differences present in their rituals of praying, marriage ceremonies, dresses etc. Wahabi Muslims have separate mosques and schools. Wahabi Muslims are followers of Mohammed ibn Abdul Wahab in the 18th century in Arabia, and his movement came up against a lot of opposition from the Indians Sunni Muslims. Members of the Wahab movement in Saudi Arabia believe their role as a restorer or reformer to free Islam from negative deviances, heresies, innovations, superstitions and idolatries. Wahabis prefer to eliminate music and listening to songs. They are against watching television and drawings of living things which contain a soul.

Summary

1. Wahabi Muslims are followers of Muhammad ibne Abdul wahab present in the 18th century in Saudi Arabia whereas Sunni Muslims are followers of Prophet Muhammad and his companions.

2. Sunni Muslims believe in intercession and mysticism whereas Wahabis call them as deviants and wrongful innovations in Islam.

3. Sunni Muslims strictly follow one of the four schools of thoughts or madhabs of fiqah or Islamic jurisprudence whereas Wahabis follow their sheikh.

4. Wahabis do not observe annual Sufi festivals, events or the birthday of Prophet Muhammad.

5. Sunni Muslims wear charms and believe in healing powers unlike Wahabi beliefs like visiting tombs or shrines of saints.

  4. All praise be to Allah
It is obligatory upon the Muslim to follow the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), according to the way of the righteous salaf who followed the guidance of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), the Sahaabah and those who followed them – may Allaah be pleased with them all. These people are called Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah (the People of the Sunnah and the Community). Everyone who follows the way brought by the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is one of them. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) brought the message of Tawheed (absolute Oneness of Allaah) and rejection of shirk (polytheism, or association of others with Allaah); he called people to worship Allaah alone and none other. With regard to the word “Wahhaabis”, some people use this word to refer to the message of Shaykh Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Wahhaab ibn Sulaymaan al-Tameemi al-Hanbali (may Allaah have mercy on him), and they call him and his followers Wahhaabis. Everyone who has any knowledge of the movement of Shaykh Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Wahhaab (may Allaah have mercy on him) and his message knows that he sought to spread the message of pure Tawheed and to warn against shirk in all its forms, such as attachment to the dead, or to trees and rocks, etc. In his ‘aqeedah (belief), he was following the way of the righteous Salaf and the Taabi’een [i.e., the earliest generations of Islam], as is indicated by his books and fatwas, and the books of his followers among his sons and grandsons and others. All of these books are in print and are in circulation among the people. His message was in accordance with the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). Wahhaabism is not a new way or a new school of thought; rather it is a call to Tawheed and the revival of aspects of the religion that had been forgotten. What you have to do is to beware of those who warn you against the Wahhaabis, because they are warning you against following the truth and the early generation of this ummah. Applying the word “Wahhaabis” to those who adhere to correct belief and warning people against them is the way of the ignorant and biased. We ask Allaah to keep you safe and sound.
    From ::::—- Islam Q&A
    Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid

From this we can conclude that there are no wahabis or salafis this has been created by other people such as sunni muslims or shias to represent them the followers of Sheik Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahab. People saying that Wahabis following only Sheik Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahab is wrong the truth is they follow the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and His sunnah.
People in Saudi Arabia are none other but Muslims only without creating any sect such as sunni muslims, wahabis, shia.
They also gives equality to Women’s too as Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) has said.

  5. Salams to brother N sisters , Most of this differences ,,almost all is been hyped & brought out by the enemies of ISLAM , THERE IS ONLY ONE RELIGION ,,,ITS JUST ISLAM and should never have been divided by the so called scholars , some Greedy , some with political move , some cheaters , some blind , some illiterate , some conspired . True our prophet ( Sallal -la hu aliahi wasalam ) told that we will have 73 sects by the times up , but never told to get divided .
All these divisions are a study & a conspiracy to break the muslim Ummah ,,check out the video of Sheikh Khalid Yasin , he will say how the enemies of Islam divided us into various sects & how they conspired into believing all this scum to be true , Did anyone ask how we got divided into so many ??? Ask yourself ,,we have only One god Allah and his religion is Islam …

  6. Please everybody, just read surah Al-Fatihah and understand its meaning and just do your prayers and stop this nonsense of arguing each other like little kids fighting over a box of sweets. There is enough religions of hatred but not enough religion of peace. Islam is a religion of Peace so let’s make it that. There’s enough killings already in the name of Islam. It is against Islam to kill another Muslim and yet we tear each other apart like we are enemies of each other. Why is this happening in countries outside of Arabia? One has to question this.

  11. Salaam
To all Muslim brothers and sister. What ever u believe if it contradict Quran and shahe Hadites then stop believeing in it, as it’s not part of islam then. Follow the first 2 generation of Muslims because they understood Islam best. Any thing that was added to islam after the passing away of Mohammed( s.a.w.w) is not part of islam. Islam was completed in life time of over last prophet.

  12. Assalamu Alaikum,

Dear Brothers & sister, every muslim worship one true God Allah,, on this line calling a fellow muslim as mushriq is wrong,,,,, I heard from my own ears that a salafi sheikh calling majority of muslims worldwide are mushriq or kafir!!! we need to avoid this kind of sheikh who creates dissidents among ummah,,if we have any difference leave it to Allah and be united,,,,

What about the muslims who born and died before 18th century??? were they all mushriq and burning in the hell?, Prophet(pbuh) said only one sect will enter heaven, he never said it is salafis or sunnis or shias,,it is one who follows Quran and sunnah,,, if u follow quran & sunnah, you should respect fellow muslim and should leave our difference to Allah,

A sunni who follow Quran & sunnah will enter paradise, A salafi who follow Quran & sunnah will enter paradise, A shia who follow Quran & sunnah will enter paradise,, so pls be united and forget the difference.

  13. Rafiq i very much agree with U . Above all I feel like throwing “shit” rather “Stones” on the “Writer” Islam is Muslim and Muslim is Islam. Stand firm on the 5 Pillars of Islam and the 6 Pillars of Iman. Allah is Our God. Prophet Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, Islam is our Religion and Alquran is Our Kitab… fullstop. No , No & No?

  14. Dear Brothers n Sisters,
    Assalamu alaikum

If any 1 of You can help me for the speech which mentioned about, Kindly send it me thru the mail..
    my mail id is misonich@yahoo.com

  15. If you are a muslim do what our Nabi (pbuh) and Allah said:-
    Pray 5 times daily
    Fast in ramadan
    Give alms to needy
Haj if you can afford it
    Iman with shahada
I have no time to complete these above and I m not going to waste time on issues about Birthdays, grave worship, intercession or saints.I have respect for them.
For me Allah and his Nabi will suffice.
    Who is your Rab
    Who is your Nabi
    What is your din
I hope that I will be able to answer these in my grave.
In life follow Quran and our Nabi sunnas.Do not listen to Tom, Dick and Harry.
Search to please Allah and try to win Janna not hell.
Respect your brother in din.Do not argue.Do Zikr and have fear of Allah. We are all doomed sinners.Try not to find others faults.Talk in soft voice.Hatred is the path of fire and hell.

    • Well said Brother,,,one who try to find fault in others are not perfect,,,we should leave our all difference to Allah and be united and support each other,,,that is the only solution for all the problems.

  16. what would you call that person who follow hadith, sunnah and Quran????i am so much confused after reading this article and i am just wondering who i am???i offer 5 times prayers i recite Quran daily i believe in Hadith and i try to follow the sunnah of My Beloved Prophets peace be upon him…now can anyone tell me am i a wahabi, sunni or shia???why do we have so many sects in islam???and the most important question is how would i know whether i am following a right path or a wrong???
    with regards

    • Yeah, many of us ask that question, since if you follow the sunnah, speak the truth, beleive in the Qur’an, hate evil and do good, you become a kafir, but look at it this way, Rasulullah sallallahu `alaihi wasallam warned of this that the haram would become halal and vice versa, and always remeber that the takfir returns to the takfiri… Beleive me there the Muslim is more harmed or killed by the ones who claimed to be Muslims that by the Kuffar.

  17. As salaamu alaykum,

Whomsoever wrote this article, brother, please to a bit more research next time.

There are no such barriers in Islam.
Islam is not like other religions, we are one Ummah, no bundaries.
The only exceptions are the Shia’s, who infact are not even muslims.

Brothers, please do not fight over petty issues.

    Jazakallah.

  18. Mehreen no ones knows who is right except Allah but anyone who defines oneself as sunni wahabi or shia is wrong, so pls dont try to figure out what u are….. just be a Muslim thats it.

  19. My dear brothers and sisters in Islam,

    Assalamualaikum,

It is very unfortunate but true that we have been already divided in several sects.
and of course for a common person it becomes very difficult rather confusing to
decide who is correct and who is wrong.

Our beloved, Rasoolallah ( Sallalaho Alaihe Wasallam ) said, follow me and my Companions
( Radiallaho Alaihim Ajmaeen ). In another Hadith Rasoolallah said my Companions are
like Stars, follow them, you will succeed.

We, Ahlesunnah Wal Jamah, Alhamdulillah respect all Companions of Rasoolalah ( SAW ).
Islam reached to us through the chain of Sahabas ( Companions ), Tabayeen,Taba Tabyeen, Muhaddisin, Awaliya Allah and great Scholars who has devoted their lives for Islam.

Almost for 1300, we were one as a single major group Ahlesunnah Wal Jamah but unfortunately now we have divided ourselves.

Now also there are no basic differences in Prayers, Fasts, Zakat and Hajj except minor issues.
The main issues are regarding beliefs ( Aqeeda ) which is the basis of Faith (Iman). Everyone knows what is the importance of Iman. The main differences are among basic belief only.

Some one really need to check correct Islamic faith through teachings and practices of our
ancestors. After all Islam has reached to us through them only. We can have very positive
and healthy discussion on this topic.

    Wassalam,

    JAMIL

  20. This is pollshit man there is NO different between them
The people who try to make difference called Shia only
But they can’t prove that claimet

  21. Firstly this is a pretty biased article. Wahabbis follow the Hanbali school of thought which although is very conservative bans haram (Shirk) things like going to shrines and asking dead people for help, this is against Islam and everything Allah told in the Quran, “I made Humans and Jinn so that they may worship me…” Al Quran therefore asking anyone else for help in incantations is worship and worshipping anyone other than Allah is shirk and although I agree that Hanbali school of thought is too conservative (Women rights) at least they abolished some un-Islamic things, WS (btw i myself am a Sunni)

    • Salaam Brother Amir …

Your response as a barelvi is as usual dilly dallying & quoting Hadith which are either Zaif, fabricated or have nothing to do with the subject !!!

I would 1st point your attention to the Hadith you mentioned about the Darood & Salaam.
I’m Not a Salafi but I assure you even the Salafis send Darood on Prophet PBUH. the only difference being they don’t do
It in the innovated way in which you do it before & after Salah.

Even your new Madani leader Ilyas Qadri has admitted it is an invention but he intends to carry in doing it as he feels it’s a good invention.

So as I said you went off the subject.

2nd point I make to you us regarding your Waseela. You like to quote Hadith to give indication on Waseelah/intercession, yet you call others Gustakh??? Clearly you are the Gustakh when you give an example of Waseelah rightfully to Prophet PBUB yet you quickly turn it & say that’s why we ask
From the dead. Are you seriously suggesting because Prophet PBUH has the rightful Waseela for his Ummah this gives you the right to appoint that Waseela to others such as Walis of Allah?

You see this is why you people are lost & extremely obnoxious, you like to twist meanings & relate them
To your desire because you like to do
Something you justify it by twisting the
      Meaning to satisfy your misdeeds.

Waseela/Intercession is mentioned in the Quran. Allah SWT says, Waseela is given to none but Rasool SAW. Even then Allah SWT mentions if he wanted it wouldn’t have been given to Prophet SAW but the All Mighty gave Prophet SAW this gift & to us Subhan Allah. So this Waseela you give out so easily to others is a very sensitive thing.

3rd point. The barelvis are so lost today. On a weekly basis your Ulema are coming out with new rituals to get closer to Allah SWT & his Rasool SAW, as if the ways to get close to them that they them selves taught us are not enough Nauzubillah.

Look at your so called sheikh Ul Islam Tahir ul Qadri, you people lobe him but he is leading you people to Hell. Recently he is promting that tue Mulsim Ummah should celebrate Christmas with their Christian brothers????

And now his followers people like you want to argue with others that yes we should do it. This is the Fitna you Barelvis are spreading today.

4th point. When you say the largest group you mean the group with the less people in it. As through Islamic history it is proven that the many follow the wrong path & the few the right.

5th point. Your so called grave worshipping/intercession leads only to Haraam acts & Shirk with the actions that take place in these places. Prostrating to the graves Which you will probably argue is ok. Men & women intermixing & dancing together while playing instruments at the graves of these pious people Nauzubillah. In A way I’m glad the Salafis gve control of Saudi as you people would commit grave atrocities at the holy sites just like your Qawalis at Data Darbar & other Saints resting places. Yet you argue that it’s all part of Sunnah. Yes Prophet SAW said to visit graves I know that too but nowhere did they PBUH say prostrate to the graves, ask
From the people inside, dance around their graves both men & women together !!!!

My final point which will out your while argument to rest &
Make you realise that The grass is greener on the other side:-

      Quran Para 1:-

Aa Lam Taalam A Inalah La Hu Mulku Samawti Wal Ardi
Wa Ma Lakum Min Dunilahi Min WALIYON
      Wala Naseer …

DO YOU NOT KNOW THAT THE DOMINIONS OF THE
HEAVEN AND EARTH BELONG TO ALLAH ALONE
AND BESIDES ALLAH YOU HAVE NO WALI NO PROTECTOR
      OR HELPER

Ponder this Ayat from the Quran my Muslim Brother

May Allah put me on the right path if I have strayed & forgive my mistakes Ameen …

      Wasalaam

      Wasalaam

u r wrong my brother. you are all wrong and trying to put wrong information into muslim minds. whabies do follow only mohammad S. W. W S. and only koran. Abdul Wahab was a strict and true follower of Mohammad S. W. W. S. get your facts right first and stop corrupting muslim minds.

    • well said brother, problem is “muslim” minds are so easily corrupted these days, even the jews and christians , (even hindus and buddhists!) can control them, such a shame

  24. I don’t know how I ended up on this site, but it sure has been interesting reading all the comments. I’m a wahabi but that’s only because my dad said that’s what we are lol. Anyway I just wanted to let you all know. I’m going to go watch eastenders now “repeat” oh I would like to say to the Sunnis just chill out – it always has to be the Sunni guys and dolls who like to get the dirty laundry out….peace out;

  25. assalam u alaikum. this article is only a stupid idea to divide islam into more sects. please stop fighting on these comments and points in the article. this article has not even given a right information. please first make some research n then begin to write. This is a good advice. and live like a muslim . pray ALLAH and act upon QURAN and HADITH .at the end i w’d like to say

Islam ki fitrat mein Qudrat ney lachak di hai
utna hi ye ubhrey ga jitna tum duba do ge

  26. A simple point;
See, the birth and the passing away dates of the Prophet (S.A.W.W) are not confirmed and are not mentioned in Hadiths or anywhere else, wise minds should at least try to ponder on this fact. Why were these dates not descended by the Saahabas ??.. Simple answer.. Because our Prophet never wanted his Umma to get involved into such stuff i.e celebrating or mourning..
Im really hurt by reading all the posts and especially the article.

  27. Why are people even allowed to write stuff like this? This is filth and lies. May Allah guide you, but if you are deviant trying to mislead the Ummah… then May Allah keep you in a state of punishment until you return back to Qur’an and Sunnah and truthfulness.

    AMEEN~

  28. Lets look at the basic logic:

    1) Celebrating Mawlid – Lets disregard the “Eid Milad Ul Nabi” Name for a second and focus on the content. It consists of Naats, Nasheeds, commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad sallahu alhi wasalam. If this was a local event just commorating these things and no name was ascoiated to it, rather just a “islamic conference”, wouldnt you go?
Same can be applied to hadiths. No where in the Quran does it state to follow Hadith, especially Sahih Bukhari or Sahih Muslim. There were many books written after the time of Prophet Muhammed, so why are these 2 books followed like law? Why do they coincide with the Quran whenever it is referenced when they were both written by people? Simple. No one focuses on who wrote, rather, the contents within it. Same application of Mawlids.

    2) Shirk and “close to shirk”. What seperates us Muslims from Christians is the basic understanding that there is no partners assosiated with Allah, while Christians believe Jesus is the “son of god”. If you ask any muslim, they will wholeheartedly tell you they do not assosiate anyone with Allah, so there is no shirk.

    3) “why celebrate birthdays when its one year closer to death?”. Sorry, but why think negatively. Why not thank allah that hes blessed you with a year, and do dawat by reading Quran and Salah? When people think Birthday, they think Kufr birthdays with balloons and presents. When you think of Prophet Isas birthday, do muslims celebrate christmas with a christmas tree and turkey? No.

    4) Muslims pray Jummah. Why? To commemorate the birth of Adam Alayhi a salam. So you are allowed to pray Jummah, but commemorating the miracles of Prophet Muhammed sallahu alhi wasalam is close to shirk? Contradiction.

What does the Quran say in Surah Maryam:

“And send salaam on me the day I was born and the day I died and the day I shall be rasied alive” (19:33)

Now, are people only going to tell me that this is a single ruling that you can ONLY celebrate a single birth?

Wahabi or not, people should learn the depth of the Quran, Fiqh, Seerah, Hadith, and looking more closer to home i.e. Direct descendants of Prophet Muhammad like Shiekh Al Islam & Sheikh Al Yaqoubi. People are so blinded by following “wahabism” because it came Saudi Arabia, the city where Prophet Muhammad was born, and do not question it, yet Saudi Arabia is the most backward state by mixing Monarchy laws with Shariah Laws. Woman cant work but Fatima worked. Women cant drive where no where in the Quran does it say women arent allowed to travel, and the list goes on. Its evident these millionaire shiekhs have corrupted the system, with the basics such as Eid, to the more personal matters of designing clocktowers that overshadow Masjid Al Aqsa.

    • hmmm, you are obviously more misguided that the shaytan who wrote this article, get out from under rock or cave or wherever you are and learn facts before you spew your filth…

beside the obvious hatred and plain ignorance, tell us please… Muslims do not commit shirk??? Wow you really need to understand what shirk is and know more Muslims, or rather those who claim to be Muslims… Praying to anything or anyone else that Allah, which many “muslims” do, is outright shirk and unforgiveable…. Muslims don’t clebrate Christmas??? Where in the world do you live??? Many Muslims not only celebrate it and other pagan “holidays” , they give more preference to it than the Eids! just as they do with the so-called Milad un Nabi!!! Jumu’ah celebrates the birthday of Adam alaihis salam??? so now your you’re saying he was born???…. Woman can’t work in Saudi Arabia??? Have you even been there to say such a utter lie??? I suggest you open your eyes and see the truth before writing stupidity.

  29. What the hell are you babbling about? Wahhabi is a school of thought WITHIN Sunni!

There are four or five schools of thought WITHIN Sunni Islam – the strictest being Hambally, which make Wahabis seem like the Church of England.

People really need to read a book before spewing garbage on the web.

  30. assalamalaikum wa rehmatuulah

  31. Dear, friends Asalamu Alaikum to every one… We wll not reach to any solution by arguing wth each other, refer to islamic books..frm every sect. Iam a HANFI nd IAM PROUD OF THAT… who the hell r u saying this that Milad is haram, making of tombs on graves it is from the time of Sahabas even, after HAZRAT MUHAMMAD(SALLAH ALAHI WASALAM), Sahabas made a tomb on the sacred grave, we Hanfi do believe this that HAZRAT MUHAMMAD (SAW) is Hayat (alive) i remember some verses, in urdu: TU Zinda Hai Wallah,TU Zinda Wallah… Mere Cheshme Aalam se Chup Jaane Walle… Sufism is from the time of Hazrat Muhammad(SAW)… So be carefull, dn’t let ur self to hell… Allah says, one who says against Muhammad(SAW) says agains me… PROPHET MUHAMMAD (SAW) is NOOR made from NOOR of Allah… Wo lanati hai jo ye kahe kh, Muhammad (SAW) is like us, he doesn’t have Elmi Ghaib etc… Jahanum me jaye ye loap…

  32. One is dead or alive, one do milad or murdabad, grave existed in time of our Prophet S.A.W.
But they did not worship or did sijda to the graves like they do in India and Pakistan. To prove you look in the ” You Tube”
What we must do I agree with you we must not argue or quarrel.
What is important we Pray Allah ONLY 5 times daily and the other 4 pillars of Islam.Plus live our life as the Quran and Hadith dictates .We should develop love for Allah and our Nabi in our heart.Make connection with Allah and our Nabi by zikr, doas, reading Quran, salah and good deeds. We must be aware and avoid innovation bidaa.ALLAH ONLY IS THE ONE WORTHY OF WORSHIP (NO PROPHETS OR WALIS ARE TO BE WORSHIP BECAUSE THEY THEMSELVES AS CREATURES AND WILL HAVE TO ACCOUNT TO ALLAH OF THEIR DEEDS )

  33. Assalam Walekum
You R Absolutely Right , hey Wahabis even U r nt a single hair of leveling of Our NABI (S.A.W) Nd u r levelling him with yourself ,How Can u Muslim ? even stil u hvnt Undstud our NABI (S.A.W) , N U say u Can Reach To ALLAH ,lolz ,once a non muslim can be on right path but u Wahabi’s Never Gonna Change , your whole life would gonna be passed busy in making New n own fatuaas , TAUBA n LAANAT on You

    • Thanks Yrl. ( .ing 2wrds wahabis) Do you believe there is Allah! How do you believed blindly there is Allah. Oh you brainless! Its through and by our beloved prophet ya! That means you believed him blindly. If not so you are rejected from muslim as Allah and its Quran tells ya! means Kaafir. Allah tells Hardhat Muhammad Salalahu Alayhi Wasalam as his Mehboob/ Habib. Wow you w’bis deny. We accept him as meaboob/habib also.

  34. Hey its not Sunni. Its SUFI. Dont get it wrong . We Sunni dont believe that Prophet Muhammad is present in this world and he is not Nur. He has already pass away so its impossible. PLEASE corrrect thins mistake. Once again, the group or sect you are refering to is SUFI and not SUNNI.

    • Dont say “we sunnis” because as you can surely see here may of these so called “Hanafis” who claim to be upon Sunnah, i.e sunni, follow the deviant sufis worshipping graves, etc and dont even follow the truth teachings of Imam Abu Hanifah rahimahullah, if this great imam was alive today, he surely would tell off the lot of ’em!

    • Oh man sunni never say this thing Sunni Always YA Muhammad S.A.W
Wahabi are stupid peoples they did not have any link with sunni people
Sunni People are very peaceful and humble not like Wahabi

    • so according to you something is impossible for ALLAH .. MAZALLAH.. dont u know in Quran ALLAH says ..dont assume martyr a dead.. it is fault of your eyes not to see them…. if a martyr cannot be dead then how can the most beloved of ALLAH ie our prophet died

    • He hears us when we visit his grave.we sunnis believe that.

  35. finally it is clear that whahbi are non-muslim.beacause they conside Abdul whab as their leader .bus real is that Prophet Muhammad(SAW)was leader and last prophet.

    • Salams Sadaqat ,

As i can read ,it seems very clear from your understanding of Islam, you are not a Muslim at all and you are only trying to bring in confusion and conflicts among this pure and proud religion .This is what is happening , the enemies of islam are playing hide n seek with innocents people with the wicked ways of shaitan .

    • Wahaabi’s are closer than most Sunnis are to what the prophet and his companions practiced. I am not a Wahaabi but at least I have educated myself about them and apart from a few minor things I see nothing wrong with their teachings. They don’t follow MIAW as most people follow a Madhab. They respect him as should we all because he rid the holy land of so many kufur acts that the Muslim were practicing.

They at least follow the prophet and his companions closer than than most Sunnis do today. I can admit this, why don’t you educate yourself then comment.

  36. i agree with u.and finally clear whabi is non-muslim.

    • So non Muslims are maintaining, praying in, and safeguarding Makkah and Madina?? LOL finally clear you are truly an idiot, sir
Learn the religion before you speak, monkey!

      • I was scrolling down the comments and said subhanallah when I read yours. These deviants need guidance but they are so angry and proud of their ways it is difficult to let them see sense. Profoundly stupid individuals, may Allah guide and have mercy on us all. I have not yet heard a valid argument from them, do they really think celebrating prophets (saw) birthday is a sunnah?! No! If you want to mark his birthday you should do what he does and fast every Monday. Now that is a sunnah.

        • Exactly, see how many “Muslims” do this, refuse to preform voluntary fast as he did, practically abandoned was the much of the sunnah. And anyone who strives to follow the sunnah is called an innovator or worst a non-Muslim! Believe me, I know all too well, was married to a takfiri who practically insulted Islam and yet call me a kafir because I do voluntary deeds, fast, do dhikr, am modest, tell the truth, grow my beard, etc, just because she didn’t beleive in none of that, refuses to wear hijab, etc and she actually was married to a Hindu of all things, and beleive that is “alright”. Fact is if you follow the Messenger, sallallahu `alaihi wa salam, and the Honourable Sahaba, radiAllahu `anhum, you are labeled a wahabi, extremist, and even an infidel, while they -Takfiris and Fasiqs – dance and drink, freely mix, fornicate even with non-Muslims and even highly praise them and their actions, lie and worst things, and don’t even hide it! and their final excuse is “Allah knows my heart”, sad and sickening, but this is what is happening in this day and age. Conclusion: Noone lies about Islam, does more damage to the Sunnah, turns people away from Islam, and harms and hates Muslims more than those who claim to be Muslims… Sad, sad, sad!!! The best of mankind, sallallahu `alaihi wa salam, could admit when he made a mistake and tell his follwers to tell him if he did, and even apologised if he harmed one of them. and today, “Muslims” cannot even admit when they are wrong, or even take sincere advice!!! May Allah give victory to his striving slaves, ameen!

        • Brilliant reply sister!

I utterly have no words to explain the ignorance and arrogance of some of our fellow brothers here, who proudly are being deviant from the true path!

      • Wahabis are infidels. They are spreading the message of terror. They dont follow the Prophet (s.a.w) but follow the jewish Rabbi. Saudi Arabia is not a protector of Mecca and Medina. They have deployed Americans for their security. They are exporting terror, they are preaching wahabism just to save their kingship (khilafah).

        • Oh so you are from the Kuffar who say that Muhammad salallahu `alaihi wasalam copied the jews and christians, you truly are ignorant and don’t know facts, learn the truth and fear Allah. Ignorance is a path to Jahannam. Keep it up, backbiting takes away sins from the one youbackbite on, so keep on giving them good deeds, and stop consuming the free food and aid you get from the Americans and others since you hate them so much, without them people like you would be starving in your backwards grave worshipping countries like pakistan, india and the likes. Keep biting the hand that feeds you. Allah has already disgraced the majority of muslims for turning away from Him and His Prophet, and given power and might to the non-beleivings that is why dummies like you should be returning to the Deen instead of making takfeer and talking useless, pure nonsense.

          • America the hand taht feeds, mate what have you been smoking, you Think America and Saudi are good ppl there the biggest Zionist counttries out.
Go watch the Arrivals, Wake up projects and The light series on you tube.

        • I can write an entire essay to refute what you said as you have just clearly explained away something clearly you are ignorant about. I can explain you away with 1 word. “MORON”

      • Salams Ibrahim,

This guy named Sadaqat Ali is not a muslim , he,s just posting things given to him from the enemies of islam to bring about divisions in our religion , it seems the same have also given him a muslim name too ,so beware of this human with a skin of a jackal.

        • Many of them around, way too many, they bear false witness with their fake shahadas, adding their false creed at the end i.e. “.. and We shall destroy Islam from within”. Their actions as their words show who they really are, pure evil and hypocritical beings that shall beg Allah for mercy and forgiveness on that Day when none is given, they need to learn and ponder on Suratul Qiyamah for one. Was Salam

      • review history there was a time when shia’s also ruled kaaba for a some time

      • Hello everyone, One thing I have to tell. Now all are watching what was, what is, and what will be happened, happening and will happened in middle east. And now all about nonsense WAHABI govt (sorry DICTATOR) is doing. All know it is influenced, financed by US to destroy the whole Arabs. Cause, they want Israel being safe. Finally they (Saudi dictator/wahabi) want to destroy all muslim by funding and leave them fighting with each other. Proof 1990s Gulf war. and Palestine Issue, Libya, now Syria, Next must be Iran. If these all goes weaken it is easy to Wahabi, Israil, and US to looting Arab muslims. What I am saying is absolutely right. If any doubt please check these news ch. Aljazeera ( Owned by Qatar king a wahabi, influenced by US) BBC, CNN, RT.

Those wahabi’s are far far away from love of Hazarat Mohammad Sallalahu Alaihi Wasalam And from Allah. May Allah continue them, Aamin.

      • As you say its yes they are demolishing most of tombs.

      • Dea Ibrahim,

In the same line ,Wahabis are borned in 25o years, then what you want to say non belivers protected it for balance 1200 years. LOl LOL LOL… for future let us see, who take care of Makka & Madina. Wait & watch. Sunni muslims are original & pure form of Islam & are diminating today, will dominate in future, you wahabis are nothing but a Teririst, a Osma bin laden, black spon on Islam & result will be same as that of Osma for all of you who are against Hujur SAWS.

  37. Who Authorizied you to pronounce who is muslim ornon muslim. Only Allah (SWT) know better.

    • You don’t get it…. they have already overriden the power of Allah as the Nasara have done, now Allah “has to accept the bid’ah and laws of his creation”… subhanallahil atheen! I have heard that from those who claim to be Muslim, so deciding who is or not a Muslim is nothing to them. we dont nee to fast, or make salat, hajj or anyhting, nothing anymore because Allah understands and knows what is in your heart… this is the new Islam… welcome to it my friend.

  38. this is such a biased article… sunnis and wahabis follow the 4 imams. even sunnis do not believe the noor of prophet Muhammed salla allahu alaihi wasalaam still exists. he was a messenger, and the greatest man on the face of earth…
but WE MUST NOT ASK HELP TO HIM, OR ANY OTHER THING EXCEPT TO ALLAH.
HE IS THE CREATOR, TO HIM WE RETURN.. AND TO HIM WE ASK.

  39. dear brothers asslamo alikum

    “WAHABISM EXPOSED!”
Sheikh Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al Wahhab
Hidaayah Islamic Foundation [ Sri Lanka ]

In the first half of the twelfth century (Hijra) the Islamic World had reached its extreme decline, degradation and utter fall. The atmosphere was very gloomy and darkness had covered all its regions. Moral degradation and corruption was rampant everywhere. As for religion it was decadent as everything else. The pure and austere monotheism (TAWHEED) of the Prophet (sal) had become corrupted with the burgeoning growth of superstition and mysticism. The mosques stood empty, unfrequented and even deserted. The ignorant multitude decked out in amulets, charms and rosaries listened to and blindly followed squalid faqeers and ecstatic dervishes. These men urged them to perform pilgrimages to the tombs of Saints and seek their intercession with Allah. As for the moral precepts ordained by the Qur’an they too were ignored as well as defied. Even the consumption of intoxicants and opium were well nigh universal. In all certainty the life had been bulldozed out of Islam, leaving behind naught but a dry husk of meaningless ritual and degrading superstition.

The period of the Pious Predecessors being already passed, innovations and superstitions cropped up and vastly mushroomed. The people went back to their old practices of idolatry. They started paying homage to shrines and graves, so much so that they even directed their devotional prayers and supplications towards the graves to the exclusion of Allah. They gave precedence to the philosophical views and taqleed (blind following) over the Sunnah. They divested Allah of His essential attributes by making false interpretations on the Qur’anic texts.

But, all praises to Allah, no generation, persistently beset with innovations and abominable Shirk was ever devoid of sincere reformers who revived the faith to its pristine purity. In such darkest hour, a voice came crying out of the vast Arabian desert, the cradle of Islam, calling the faithful back to the true path, the one and only way – the Qur’an and the Sunnah. That was the great Mujaddid and puritan reformer, the celebrated Sheikh Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab, who kindled a fire, which spread and engulfed the remotest corners of the Muslim World, purging Islam of its decadence and reviving the fervor of days gone by. The morning of reformation had dawned and the great re-awakening of the Islamic world had begun.

This peaceful, religious, revivalist movement of the Sheikh was obnoxious to the Turks and others for more reasons than one. They tried to crush this movement by force. They even killed some of the leaders, but could not destroy the movement outright. The movement lived on and is now growing all over the world. Everywhere in the Muslim world we are witnessing, the raising of the banner of Tawheed and the revival of the Call to the Qur’an and Sunnah.

All around the Muslim world, we see some Muslims, individually and collectively proclaiming the Call to Tawheed and the return to the Qur’an and Sunnah in the face of opposition by the ‘Saint-worshippers’, `Grave-worshippers`, `the Sufis’ and the ‘Tariqat followers’. These deviant groups all purport or make the false claim to be Ahl us Sunnah wal Jam’aah and label the true callers to The Sunnah as `Wahhabis’

In view of the ignoble and false propaganda mounted against the reformatory movement of Sheikh Muhammad ibn Abd al Wahhab and the derogatory use of the word `Wahhabi’ for the movement ant its followers, we will Insha Allah in the course of this booklet, give a short account of the important events of his life and salient features of his creed and of his works.

    HIS LIFE STORY
Sheikh Muhammad ibn Abd al Wahhab ibn Sulaiman ibn Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Rashid al Tamimi was born in the year 1115 A.H.(1703 C.E.) in ‘Ayina to the north of Riyadh, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the reign of Abdulla ibn Muhammad ibn Hamd ibn Muammar. He excelled over his contemporaries in intelligence and physique and was able to commit the Quran to memory by the time he was ten years old. His father found him capable of leading the congregational prayers and decided to get him married that year.

He studied the Hanbali Jurisprudence, Tafsir and Hadith from his learned father. During his childhood itself, he directed his full attention to the books on Tafsir, Hadith and Aqidah and particularly to the writings of Sheik al Islam Ibn Taimiya and Ibn al Qayyim and made a deep study of them.

He left his native town to perform the Hajj and then proceeded to Madinah. At that time Sheikh Abdullah bin Ibrahim ibn Saif belonging to the progeny of Saif Najdi was chief of the scholars of Madinah. Sheikh Muhammad acquired a good deal of knowledge from him and came to be loved and held in high esteem by his teacher. His strong stand on Thawheed and his deep concern over false beliefs and evil deeds brought about a strong bond between the Sheikh and his teacher. He was so impressed by his student that Sheikh Abdullah granted him permission of narrating well-known hadiths of two of the authorities. Firstly on the authority of Ibn Muflih reporting from Sheikh Ibn Taiymiyyah and reaching up to Imam Ahmad. Secondly on the authority of Abd al Rahman bin Rajab, reporting from Ibn al Qayyim who narrated it from his teacher Sheikh ibn Taiymiyya reaching up to Imam Ahmad. Sheikh Abdullah also authorized him to narrate all the traditions reported by Sheikh Abd al Baqi Hanbali, the chief among the great teachers of his time. He also authorised him to narrate the traditions of the Sahih of Bukhari and the traditions of the Sahih of Muslim and commentaries of both, the Sunan of Tirmidhi, Nasa’ai, Abu Dawud, Ibn Maajah, the Muwatta of Imam Malik and the Musnad of Imam Ahmad.

During this time he came to know and benefited from the knowledge of other scholars such as Ali Afendi Daghastanee, Ismaeel Ajluni and others. Then he moved on to Nejd, Basra and Syria for the purpose of acquiring further knowledge. He stayed for a long time in Basra, where he pursued his studies under a number of renowned scholars, among whom Sheikh Muhammad Majmui was most prominent. During this time he compiled and published many valuable books on the topic of innovations, superstitions and the supplication to the dead ones in the graves. He supported his treatises with manifest evidence from the Quran.

The adherents of falsehood defamed, tortured and turned him out of Basra. They also persecuted his teacher Sheikh Majmui. He left for the town of Zubair in the scorching heat of the summer and was almost dying of thirst, when Allah sent to him a man called Abu Hamidan. He found the Sheikh to be a man of learning and righteousness. So he mounted him on his animal and took him to Zubair. Sheikh Muhammad thought of going to Syria to quench his thirst for more knowledge, but soon fell short of provision and was compelled to return to Nejd. He arrived at Ahsa and stayed with the Sheikh Abdullah ibn Abd al Latiff Shafi’i and studied under him.

    UN-ISLAMIC PRACTICES OF THAT TIME.
Sheikh Muhammad then went to Harimala, a village of Nejd because his father had transferred there and stayed with him. He devoted himself fully to the learning of Tafsir and Hadith, particularly the works of Skeikh ibn Taiymiyyah and Sheikh ibn Qayyim. This immensely increased his knowledge and insight and infused in his heart a spirit of determination and steadfastness. With his deep insight he could visualize all the un-Islamic notions and corrupt practices prevailing in Nejd and the countries he had visited. Even in Madinah, he saw people invoking the Prophet (sal) and making supplication to him. He decided to disseminate the True message of Islam throughout the Arabian Peninsula.

The Sheikh found that Nejd was infested with corrupt beliefs and religious practices repugnant to the fundamentals of the True Religion. There were a number of graves in the Nejd area which were attributed to some of the Companions of the Prophet (sal). People visited these graves and invoked them for help in their hour of need. In Jubila they visited the grave of Zaid ibn Khattab and seeking relief for their needs. In Manfuha, people sought mediatiothrouga male palm-tree believing that a spinster, who pays a visit to it, soon gets married.

In Dariya there was a cave which people frequented. Similarly there was grave of Dirar ibn al Azwar in the valley of Ghabira. It was the same story as in Basra and Zubair where people worship idols of the pre-Islamic period. A similar sad state of affairs prevailed in Iraq, Syria Egypt and Yemen.

He compared all these practices in the light of the Quran and the practices of the Prophet (sal) and his Companions and found them far removed from and inconsistent with the religion and spirit of Islam. This was the sorry state of affairs not only with the people of Nejd but of other places as well, in the Muslim world.

CALL FOR REVIVAL OF PURE MONOTHEISM
The Sheikh found that the people had abandoned their faith, and the more he studied their deviations, the firmer he grew in his conviction and determination that Muslims should inevitably change themselves and tread the path of the Pious Predecessors. The hadiths of Prophet (Sal) say as follows:

`You must necessarily tread the path of those who lived before you’.
`The last hour shall not come, until some of the people of my Ummah begin to worship idols.’
`Islam was born a stranger and shall return as a stranger in similar manner.’
Sheikh Muhammad had by now resolved to publicly declare unto his people that they had gone astray from the right path.

He started with his call to the people in the town of Harimala, and made it clear to them, that he called them only unto Allah. He reminded the people that everything should be for Allah alone and that they should give up their wrong beliefs and practices. This naturally led to a dispute and struggle with the people and even with his father, who had been led away by the false sayings of the deviated followers.

The Sheikh continued to pursue his cause undeterred by making speeches, writing as well as practically guiding the people. Eventually a good majority of his people accepted his views. His father and brother Sulaiman too were convinced after prolonged discussions. In the year 1153 A.H. his father Abd al Wahhab passed away.

After the death of his father the people openly accepted the call of the Sheikh and forsook their false notions. They responded to the call for a return to the Sunnah of the Prophet (sal) both in words and deeds.

During this time his town was dominated by two tribes both claiming leadership but none able to take full control and maintain justice. These tribes were in the practice of keeping slaves and indulged in every mischief and sin. When the Sheikh thought of admonishing them, they got wind of it and set upon him but were prevented by the timely action of some good people.

The Sheikh left Harimala for his native town Aiyna, where his forefathers once lived and ruled. Here he met one Uthman bin Hamd bin Muammar, to whom he explained his reformist movement based on the Quran and Sunnah. He explained the significance of Thawheed and how much the beliefs and actions of the people differed from the true path. He told Uthman that if he would uphold the cause of Allah and his word, he would soon come to the leadership in Nejd and crowned with eternal bliss.

Uthman responded readily to the Sheikh’s call. Here again the Sheikh urged the people to return to the worship of Allah only (Thawheed) and a strict adherence to the Sunnah of the Prophet (sal). The Sheikh managed to cut down trees that were being worshipped in the area. He succeeded with the help of Uthman, in bringing down the dome over the grave of Zaid ibn al Khattab. He also carried out the prescribed punishment for adultery on a woman who had confessed to it.
MATTERS TO WHICH THE SHEIKH INVITED THE PUBLIC AND WHICH GOT HIM INTO DISPUTE WITH SOME OF THE ULEMAS:

    1.Tawhid al-Ubudiya-
He explained to the people that Ibadah is nothing but exclusive obedience to Allah and compliance with His commands. This is a comprehensive term for everything that Allah loves and such words and deeds He is pleased with. The forms of Ibadah (Worship) which are to be offered to Allah alone are many, such as Salat (Prayers), Saum (Fasting), Zakat and Sadaqah, slaughtering of sacrificial animals, tawaf and invocation. He said that anyone who happens to direct any of these acts to anyone other than Allah becomes a Mushriq as Allah the Exalted says:

“ And whoever invokes (or worships) besides Allah any other ilah (god) of whom he has no proof, then his reckoning is only with his Lord. Surely Al-Kafirun (the disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah polytheists, pagans idolaters etc.) will not be successful.” Al Quran 23:117

    2. Tawassul –
This means a fervent plea and is of two types: the permitted and the prohibited. The permitted one is by means of faith and righteous deeds and the Glorious Names of Allah and his attributes. The prohibited one is entreaty using the name of the Messenger, pious people and saints. Here is what Allah the Exalted says:

“O you who believe! Be mindful of your duty towards Allah and seek the means of approach and strive in His cause as much as you can so that you may be successful.” Al Quran5:35

    3. Journeying to Mosques on Pilgrimage –
He asked the people not to undertake any pilgrimages to mosques other then the three mosques as given in an authentic hadith.

“Do not undertake a journey but to the three mosques – the Sacred Mosque Makkah) my mosque (Madinah) and the further Mosque (Al Aqsa).”

    4. Construction over graves, covering and decorating them etc. –
The Sheikh openly declared that to construct buildings over the graves is unlawful. So is to shroud the graves with beautiful coverings and decorating them. It is prohibited to burn candles over the graves or to set up stone inscriptions. He also declared that it is illegal to have custodians and caretakers of shrines. Visiting such places tantamount to idol worship and can lead to other prohibited actions such as kissing them and going round them. He supported his statements with numerous hadiths prohibiting such constructions, visiting them and praying in them. The Shaikh quoted the hadith of Abu ‘l-Hayyaj al-Asadi whom Ali ibn Abi Talib asked:

“Should I not commission you with a duty with which the Messenger of Allah had commissioned me-to leave no statue but to crush it, and no grave raised above the surface of the ground but to level it down?”

    5. Unity with respect of the Holy Names and Attributes of Allah-
On this the Sheikh held the views of the Pious Predecessors and the four celebrated teachers of law and others who held the same view, namely the affirmation and recognition of the Names and Attributes of Allah without employing Tamtheel (finding similarity with Allah’s attributes) or Takeef. (e.g. To explain how Allah does some thing).

    6. Innovations-
The Sheikh very much disliked and spoke out against innovations (Bida’) especially:

    1. The celebration and holding of gatherings on the Prophet’s Birthday.

    2. Making Dhikr and salawath before pronouncing the Adhan.

    3. Verbally pronouncing the Niyyah (intention) particularly before Takbir Tahrim.

    4. Recital of a hadith of Abu Huraira before the Khatib ascends the Minbar. (Pulpit)

The Sheikh also abhorred and condemned the innovated practices of Tariqas (Orders), Tawassuf (Mysticism) and other practices which have no authority or sanction eitfrom the Messenger (sal) or from the Companion(R.A). Several Ulema had compiled works on this subject even before Sheikh Muhammad such as Ibn-Waddah, al-Turthushi and al-Shatibi on these abominable innovated practices and heretical actions.

This is a short biography of the best of reformers and the greatest of Mujahids and a renowned scholar of Islam, whom Allah blessed with deep insight. This reform movement was initiated by Sheikh Muhammad and not by Sheikh Abdul Wahhab. The correct name for this movement should have been “al-Muhammadiya” and not “al Wahhabiya”. In the light of the above facts it is left to the reader to judge whether the Sheikh initiated a new madhab or was reviving the deen of the Prophet (sal), his noble companions and their successors.

Indeed all Praise and thanks be to Allah the Exalted, who has graced us with the favor of preparing this life sketch of the Sheikh Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab. May Allah be merciful to him and Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon Muhammad (sal) upon his family, all his noble companions and their successors until the last day.

    • @Saima..very good sister..What you wrote on this page was true…Also the one who wrote this page is either a sufi or a barelwi, and not a Sunni Muslim. When our prophet(s.a.w) told Muslims not to imitate Christians and Jews by forbidding prayer in Graves..When these so they called Aulias couldn’t do much when alive suddenly became superpowers after they died. When Yunus(A.S) couldn’t do anything when swallowed by a whale, how come Aulias be any better?
      Allah revealed in the Qur’an:3:144,
“Muhammad is no more than apostle, many were the apostles who passed away before him.If he died or were slain, will ye then turn back on your heels.”
Also respect to the prophet is shown by adhering to his Sunnah and not by celebrating his birthday.
Isn’t it a common knowledge that our beloved prophet(S.A.W) also passed away precisely on the day he was born. So,are you celebrating his birth or his death? Also,is there any proof our PROPHET(S.A.W) used to celebrate his birthday?
Didn’t our PROPHET(S.A.W) warn us against raising the level of graves?
Didn’t our PROPHET warn us against music. So,where does this whole concept of sufi music come from?
Didn’t our prophet warn us against worshipping graves?
wake up muslims from thy deep slumber.May Allah guide us towards the right path..Ameen.

      • Praise be to Allah, Lord of all the worlds, and Peace and Blessings upon His Prophet and Messenger Muhammad, his family and all his companions. In Islam there are two `Eids, `Eid al-Adha and `Eid al-Fitr. Other celebrations, like Mawlid, are neither obligatory nor forbidden. However, we have come to a time in which we hear too much complaining about the remembrance of the Prophet’s birthday, although there are more important matters that concern Muslims nowadays. We are living in a time when the enemies of Islam are destroying the Umma of the Prophet from within and without, without mercy, and there are now very few believers who are able to oppose them. We have reached a time of jahiliyya (ignorance) among the Muslims, so much so that the Truth has become a commodity and Falsehood has become the norm. Allah Almighty is ordering believers, “Hold fast to the Rope of Allah and do not separate” (Ali `Imran 103). Yet in this time, more than any other time, we are finding that the attacks of our enemies are not the only cause of our suffering. Within our own home, the Umma is being attacked and harmed deeply by some people, whom we don’t like to name but who are well-known. They are not happy to fight the enemies of Islam but instead find it necessary to fight Muslims and the community of believers throughout the Muslim world. Therefore I felt it was my duty to prepare a defense of the believers from the attacks of these Muslims, who have nothing to do while our enemies are rending the Umma, except to find fault with the beliefs of other Muslims. They take great pains to find anything that their scholars might consider doubtful as an excuse to deride and denigrate the faith of Muslims, calling them names like: mushrik, kafir, mubtadi`. And they have nothing better to do than to change what Muslim scholars have accepted as correct for 1400 years, and to call it bid`a, shirk, and kufr! To celebrate the Prophet’s birthday is to celebrate Islam, because the Prophet is the symbol of Islam. Imam Mutawalli Sha`rawi said in his book, Ma’idat al-Fikr al-Islamiyya (p. 295), “If living beings were happy for his coming (to this world) and every inanimate creation was happy at his birth and all plants were happy at his birth and all animals were happy at his birth and all angels were happy at his birth and all believing jinn were happy at his birth, why are you preventing us from being happy at his birth?”
Therefore, and in order to defend the common Muslims and believers from such wrong and unacceptable accusations, especially in America and Canada, where there aren’t enough knowledgeable scholars to answer these ignorant people, it is necessary to know the actual position of Islam on this, which is permissibility based on khilaf (divergence of opinions among the scholars), and no one changes it to prohibition except the ignorant and the innovators. Insha Allah, I will present the facts and proofs relating to the celebration of Mawlid according to Qur’an and Sunna and the Scholars of Islam, with the intention of countering the criticism and questioning of some ignorant “scholars” who pretend to understand all of religion, and with the intention of sharing with others that understanding with which Allah has blessed the true scholars of Islam. Before going in-depth into explanations, I would like to present three statements:

We say that celebrating the Mawlid of the Prophet is acceptable, that to make gatherings for the hearing of his Sira (Life) and listening to Madh (Praise) that has been written for him is acceptable, and that giving food to people and bringing happiness to the Umma on that occasion is acceptable.
We say that the celebration of the Prophet’s Mawlid must not only be on the 12th of Rabi` al-Awwal, but can and should be on every day of every month in every mosque, in order for people to feel the light of Islam and the light of Shari`a in their hearts.
We say that Mawlid gatherings are an effective and efficient means for the purpose of calling people to Islam and educate children; and that these meetings give a golden opportunity that must not be lost, for every scholar and da`i to teach and remind the Nation of the Prophet of his good character, his way of worshipping, and his way of treating people. This is a way to make children love and remember their Prophet, by giving them food and juice and gifts to make them happy.
Ten (10) PROOFS from the Qur’an and Sunnah that Celebrating the Nabi’s birthday is accepted in Shari’ah.

FIRST: Allah asks the Prophet, peace be upon him, to remind his Nation that it is essential for those who claim to love Allah, to love His Prophet: “Say to them: If you love Allah, follow (and love and honor) me, and Allah will love you” (3:31). The Celebration of the Holy Prophet’s birth is motivated by this obligation to love the Prophet, peace be upon him, to obey him, to remember him, to follow his example, and to be proud of him as Allah is proud of him, since Allah has boasted about him in His Holy Book by saying, “Truly you are of a magnificient character” (68:4).
Love of the Prophet is what differentiates the believers in the perfection of their iman. In an authentic hadith related in al-Bukhari and Muslim, the Prophet said: “None of you believes until he loves me more than he loves his children, his parents, and all people.” In another hadith in al-Bukhari he said: “None of you believes until he loves me more than he loves himself” and Sayyidina `Umar said: “O Prophet, I love you more than myself.”
Perfection of faith is dependent on love of the Prophet because Allah and His angels are constantly raising his honor, as is meant by the verse already quoted, “Allah and His angels are praying on the Prophet” (33:56). The divine order that immediately follows in the verse, “O believers, pray on him,” makes it clear that the quality of being a believer is dependent on and manifested by praying on the Prophet. O Allah! Send peace and blessings on the Prophet, his family, and his companions.

The Prophet Emphasized Monday As the Day He Was Born.

SECOND: Abu Qatada al-Ansari narrates in Sahih Muslim, Kitab al-siyam, that the Prophet was asked about the fast of Monday, and he answered: “That is the day that I was born and that is the day I received the prophecy.” We quote again from Shaykh Mutawalli Sha`rawi:
“Many extraordinary events occurred on his birthday as evidenced in hadith and history, and the night of his birth is not like the night of any other human being’s birth.”
These events and the hadiths pertaining thereto, such as the shaking of Chosroes’ court, the extinction of the 1,000-year old fire in Persia, etc. are related in Ibn Kathir’s work al-Bidaya, Vol. 2, pages 265-268.
We quote from the book Kitab al-Madkhal by Ibn al-Hajj (1:261):
“It is an obligation that on every Monday of Rabi` ul- Awwal we increase our worship to thank Allah for what He gave us as a great favor — the favor of sending us His beloved Prophet to direct us to Islam and to peace… The Prophet, when answering someone questioning him about fasting on Mondays, mentioned: On that day I was born. Therefore that day gives honor to that month, because that is the day of the Prophet… and he said: I am the master of the children of Adam and I say that without pride… and he said: Adam and whoever is descended from him are under my flag on the day of Judgment. These hadiths were transmitted by the Shaikhayn [Bukhari and Muslim]. And Muslim quotes in his Sahih, the Prophet said, On that day, Monday, I was born and on that day the first message was sent to me.”
The Prophet emphasized the day of his birth and thanked Allah for the big favor of bringing him to life by fasting on that day as is mentioned in the hadith of Abu Qatada. This means that the Prophet was expressing his happiness for that day by fasting, which is a kind of worship. Since the Prophet emphasized that day by fasting, worship in any form to emphasize that day is also acceptable. Even if we change the form, the essence is kept. Therefore, fasting, giving food to the poor, coming together to praise the Prophet, or coming together to remember his good manners and good behavior, all of this is considered a way of emphasizing that day. (See also the hadith “Dying on Monday” below.)

Allah Said: Rejoice in the Prophet

THIRD: To express happiness for the Prophet coming to us is an obligation given by Allah through Qur’an, as Allah said in Qur’an: “Of the favor and mercy of Allah let them rejoice” (10:58). This order came because joy makes the heart grateful for the mercy of Allah. And What greater mercy did Allah give than the Prophet himself, of whom Allah says, “We did not send you except as a mercy to human beings” (21:107).
Because the Prophet was sent as a mercy to all mankind, it is incumbent not only upon Muslims, but upon all human beings to rejoice in his person. Unfortunately, today it is some Muslims who are foremost in rejecting Allah’s order to rejoice in His Prophet.

The Prophet Celebrated Great Historical Events

FOURTH: The Prophet always made the connection between religious events and historical events, so that when the time returned for a significant event, he reminded his Sahaba to celebrate that day and to emphasize it, even if it had happened in the distant past. This principle can be found in the following hadith of Bukhari and others: “When the Prophet reached Madina, he saw the Jews fasting on the day of `Ashura’. He asked about that day and they told him that on that day, Allah saved their Prophet, Sayyidina Musa and drowned their enemy. Therefore they are fasting on that day to thank Allah for that favor.” At that time the Prophet responded with the famous hadith, “We have more right to Musa than you,” and he used to fast that day and the day preceding it.
Allah Said: Invoke Blessings on the Prophet

FIFTH: Remembrance of the birth of the Prophet encourages us to pray on the Prophet and to praise him, which is an obligation on us through Allah’s order in the verse, “Allah and His angels are praying on (and praising) the Prophet; O believers! pray on (and praise) him and send him utmost greetings” (33:56). Coming together and remembering the Prophet causes us to pray on him and to praise him. Who has the right to deny the obligation which Allah has ordered us to fulfill through the Holy Qur’an? The benefit brought by obeying an order of Allah, and the light that it brings to our heart, cannot be measured. That obligation, furthermore, is mentioned in the plural: Allah and His angels are praying on and praising the Prophet — in a gathering. It is entirely incorrect, therefore, to say that praying on and praising the Prophet must be done alone.
The Effect of Observing Mawlid on Unbelievers

SIXTH: Expressing happiness and celebrating the Prophet on his birthday causes even unbelievers, by Allah’s favor and mercy, to gain some benefit. This is mentioned in Sahih Bukhari. Bukhari said in his hadith that every Monday, Abu Lahab in his grave is released from punishment because he freed his handmaid Thuwayba when she brought him the news of the Prophet’s birth. This hadith is mentioned in Bukhari in the book of Nikah, and Ibn Kathir mentions it in his books Sirat al-Nabi Vol.1, p. 124, Mawlid al-Nabi p. 21, and al-Bidaya p. 272-273. The hafiz Shamsuddin Muhammad ibn Nasiruddin ad-Dimashqi wrote on this the following verses in his book Mawrid as-sadi fi Mawlid al-Hadi: “If this, a kafir who was condemned to hell eternally with “Perish his hands” [sura 111], is said to enjoy a respite every Monday because he rejoiced in Ahmad: what then do you think of the servant who, all his life, was happy with Ahmad, and died saying, “One”?”

The Obligation to Know Sira and Imitate Its Central Character

SEVENTH: We are asked to know about our Prophet, about his life, about his miracles, about his birth, about his manners, about his faith, about his signs (ayat wa dala’il), about his seclusions, about his worship, and is not this knowledge an obligation for every Muslim? What is better than celebrating and remembering his birth, which represents the essence of his life, in order to acquire knowledge of his life? To remember his birth begins to remind us of everything else about him. This will make Allah happy with us because then we will be able to know the Prophet’s Sira better, and we will be readier to take the Prophet as an example for ourselves, to correct ourselves, and to imitate him. That is why the celebration of his birthday is a great favor sent to us.
The Prophet Accepted Poetry in His Honor

EIGHTH: In the time of the Prophet, it is well-known that poets came to him with all kinds of works praising him, writing about his campaigns and battles and about the Sahaba. This is proved by the numerous poems quoted in the Siras of Ibn Hisham, al-Waqidi, and others. The Prophet was happy with good poetry since it is reported in Bukhari’s al-Adab al-mufrad and elsewhere that he said: “There is wisdom in poetry.” Thus the Prophet’s uncle al-`Abbas composed poetry praising the birth of the Prophet, in which are found the following lines:
When you were born, the earth was shining, and the firmament barely contained your light, and we can pierce through, thanks to that radiance and light and path of guidance.
This text is found in Suyuti’s Husn al-maqsid p. 5 and in Ibn Kathir’s Mawlid p. 30 as well as Ibn Hajar’s Fath al-Bari.
Ibn Kathir mentions the fact that according to the Sahaba, the Prophet praised his own name and recited poetry about himself in the middle of the battle of Hunayn in order to encourage the companions and scare the enemies. That day he said: “I am the Prophet! This is no lie. I am the son of `Abd al-Muttalib!”
The Prophet was therefore happy with those who praised him because it is Allah’s order, and he gave them from what Allah was providing him. If we get together and do something in order to approach the Prophet, we are doing something to approach Allah, and approaching the Prophet will make Allah happy with us.
        Singing and Recitation of Poetry:
It is established that the Prophet instructed `A’isha to let two ladies sing on the day of `Eid. He said to Abu Bakr: “Let them sing, because for every nation there is a holiday, and this is our holiday” [Agreed upon]. Ibn Qayyim in Madarij al-salikin comments that the Prophet also gave permission to sing in wedding celebrations, and allowed poetry to be recited to him. He heard Anas and the Companions praising him and reciting poems while digging before the famous battle of the Trench (Khandaq), as they said: “We are the ones who gave bay`a to Muhammad for jihad as long as we are living.”
Ibn Qayyim also mentions `Abdullah ibn Rawaha’s long poem praising the Prophet as the latter entered Mecca, after which, the Prophet prayed for him. He prayed that Allah support Hassan ibn Thabit, with the holy spirit as long as he would support the Prophet with his poetry. Similarly the Prophet rewarded Ka`b ibn Zuhayr’s poem of praise with a robe. The Prophet asked Aswad bin Sarih to make poems praising Allah, and he asked someone else to recite the poem of praise of 100 verses which Umayya ibn Abi al- Salt had composed. Ibn Qayyim continues, “`A’isha always recited poems praising him and he was happy with her.”
This Umayya ibn Abi al-Salt is a poet of Jahiliyya who died in Damascus before Islam. He was a pious man who had relinquished the use of wine and the worship of idols, as related by Dhahabi in Siyar a`lam al-nubala’ (2:23).
Part of the funeral eulogy Hassan ibn Thabit recited for the Prophet states:
I say, and none can find fault with me But one lost to all sense: I shall never cease to praise him. It may be for so doing I shall be for ever in Paradise With the Chosen One for whose support in that I hope. And to attain to that day I devote all my efforts.(1)
        Singing and Recitation of Qur’an:
As Ibn al-Qayyim says in his book, “Allah gave permission to his Prophet to recite the Qur’an in a melodious way. Abu Musa al- Ash`ari one time was reciting the Qur’an in a melodious voice and the Prophet was listening to him. After he finished, the Prophet congratulated him on reciting in a melodious way and said, “You have a good voice.” And he said about Abu Musa al-Ash`ari that Allah gave him a “mizmar” (flute or horn) from Dawud’s mizmars. Then Abu Musa said, “O Messenger of Allah, if I had known that you were listening to me, I would have recited it in a much more melodious and beautiful voice such as you have never heard before.”
Ibn Qayyim continues, “The Prophet said, “Decorate the Qur’an with your voices,” and “Who does not sing the Qur’an is not from us.” Ibn Qayyim comments: “To take pleasure in a good voice is acceptable, as is taking pleasure in a nice scenery, such as mountains or nature, or from a nice smell, or from good food, as long as it is conforming to Shari`a. If listening to a good voice is haram, then taking pleasure in all these other things is also haram.”
The Prophet Allowed Drum-Playing For A Good Intention:
Ibn `Abbad the Muhaddith gave the following fatwa in his “Letters.” He starts with the hadith, “One lady came to the Prophet when he was returning from one of his battles and she said, “Ya Rasulallah, I have made an oath that if Allah sends you back safe, I would play this drum near you.” The Prophet said, “Fulfill your oath.” The hadith is found in Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, and Ahmad.
Ibn `Abbad continues, “There is no doubt that the playing of a drum is a kind of entertainment, even though the Prophet ordered her to fulfill her oath. He did that because her intention was to honor him for returning safely, and her intention was a good intention, not with the intention of a sin or of wasting time. Therefore, if anyone celebrates the time of the birth of the Prophet in a good way, with a good intention, by reading Sira and praising him, it is accepted.”

The Prophet Emphasized the Birthday of Prophets

NINTH: The Prophet emphasized in his hadith both the day and the place of birth of previous prophets. Speaking of the greatness of the day of Jum`a (Friday), the Prophet said in his hadith: “On that day [i.e. Jum`a], Allah created Adam.” This means that the day of Friday is emphasized because Allah created Adam on that day. That day is emphasized because it saw the creation of the prophet and father of all human beings. What about the day when the greatest of prophets and best of human beings was created? The Prophet said: “Truly Allah made me the Seal of prophets while Adam was between water and clay.” This hadith is related by Ahmad in the Musnad, Bayhaqi in Dala’il al-Nubuwwa and others, and is sound and established as authentic. Why Bukhari Emphasized Dying On Monday
Imam Qastallani said in his commentary on Bukhari: “In his book on Jana’iz (Funerals), Bukhari named an entire chapter “Dying on Monday.” In it there is the hadith of `A’isha relating her father’s (Abu Bakr al-Siddiq) question: “On which day did the Prophet die?” She replied: “Monday.” He asked: “What day are we today?” She said, “O my father, this is Monday.” Then he raised his hands and said: “I beg you, O Allah, to let me die on Monday in order to coincide with the Prophet’s day of passing.”
Imam Qastallani continues, “Why did Abu Bakr ask for his death to be on Monday? So that his death would coincide with the day of the Prophet’s passing, in order to receive the baraka of that day… Does anyone object to Abu Bakr’s asking to pass away on that day for the sake of baraka? Now, why are people objecting to celebrating or emphasizing the day of the Prophet ‘s birth in order to get baraka?”
The Prophet Emphasized the Birthplace of Prophets
A hadith authentified by the hafiz al-Haythami in Majma` al- zawa’id states that on the night of Isra’ and Mi`raj, the Prophet was ordered by Jibril to pray two rak`ats in Bayt Lahm (Bethlehem), and Jibril asked him: “Do you know where you prayed? When the Prophet asked him where, he told him: “You prayed where `Isa was born.”(2)

The Ijma` of `ulama on the Permissibility of Mawlid

TENTH: Remembering the Prophet’s birthday is an act that all `ulama of the Muslim world accept and still accept. This means that Allah accepts it, according to the saying of Ibn Mas`ud related in Imam Ahmad’s Musnad with a sound chain: “Whatever the majority of Muslims see as right, then this is good to Allah, and whatever is seen by the majority of Muslims as wrong, it is wrong to Allah.” History of The Celebration of Mawlid: The Mawlid in Mecca According to Muslim Historians Celebration of the Birthplace of the Prophet
Mecca, the Mother of Cities, may Allah bless and honor her, is the leader of other Islamic cities in the celebration of Mawlid as in other things. In his book Akhbar Makka, Vol. 2, p. 160, the 3rd- century historian of Mecca, al-Azraqi, mentions as one of the many places in Mecca in which the performance of salat is desirable (mustahabb), the house where the Prophet was born (Mawlid al- Nabi). According to him, the house had previously been turned into a mosque by the mother of the caliphs Musa al-Hadi and Harun ar-Rashid.
The Qur’anic scholar al-Naqqash (266-351) mentions the birthplace of the Prophet as a place where du`a by noon on Mondays is answered. He is quoted in al-Fasi’s Shifa’ al-gharam Vol. 1, p. 199, and others.

Earliest Mentions of the Public Mawlid

The oldest source that mentions a public commemoration of the Mawlid is in Ibn Jubayr’s (540-614) Rihal (“Travels”), p. 114-115:
“This blessed place [the house of the Prophet] is opened, and all men enter it to derive blessing from it (mutabarrikin bihi), on every Monday of the month of Rabi` al-Awwal; for on that day and in that month was born the Prophet.”
The 7th-century historians Abul `Abbas al-`Azafi and his son Abul Qasim al-`Azafi wrote in their unpublished Kitab ad-durr al-munazzam:
“Pious pilgrims and prominent travellers testified that, on the day of the mawlid in Mecca, no activities are undertaken, and nothing is sold or bought, except by the people who are busy visiting his noble birthplace, and rush to it. On this day the Ka`ba is opened and visited.”
Ibn Battuta’s Account of the Mawlid
The famous 8th-century historian Ibn Battuta relates in his Rihla, Vol. 1, p. 309 and 347, that on every Friday, after the salat, and on the birthday of the Prophet, the door of Ka`ba is opened by the head of the Banu Shayba, the doorkeepers of the Ka`ba, and that on the Mawlid, the Shafi`i qadi (head judge) of Mecca, Najmuddin Muhammad Ibn al-Imam Muhyiddin al-Tabari, distributes food to the shurafa’ (descendants of the Prophet) and to all the other people of Mecca.

        • Salaam Mr Shariq

Most of the points you made are from authentic sources but the problem is you want to interpret them the way you want.

You can quote Ahadith or verses from the HolyQuran all day long but the fact remains you cannot give one piece of evidence which says CELEBRATE MAWLID either from Prophet PBUH or from Allah SWT or indeed any of the Sahabas RA.

You fail to see realise the problem with your beliefs. You have eyes yet your are blind, you have ears yet you are deaf.

When a person is walking and looks up and sees a bird flying across the sky and he says Subhan Allah, the person is celebrating the creation, power and greatness of Allah. When a person eats and then burps, he says Al Hamdu Lillah, he is celebrating the favour of Allah SWT.

When we realize and acknowledge the favour of Allah even without using our tongue we are still celebrtaing and praising Allah SWT and his favours.

Many people donot have a problem with the Mawlid it self, its what happens during the celebration is what is a problem, but the barelvis do not wish to tackle the problem instead say it is all allowed.

When the Barelvis celebrate the Mawlid they do many things which are against Sharia. For example:-

Pay thousands of pounds for huge cakes to show their fake love for Prophet Muhammad PBUH, while their brothers & sisters are dying around the world due to starvation. The bigger and more expensive the cake the more respect is given Astagfirullah. Would not you be showing more love by giving the thousands to the starving and feeding them, would you not be closer to Prophet PBUH and Allah SWT for doing what they would do? Cutting cakes is what the pagans did and do today, we are forbidden from copying any acts of the pagans, christians etc …

Putting up lights like the christians on christmas and the excuse of the barelvi ulema is that they represent DIYAS (candles) Astagfirullah, they even want to make excuses for something plain and simply wrong. We cannot and must not copy or mirror the non-muslims. the hindus use diyas and lights for there celebrations yet you dont want to be left out.

Setting out a chair all decorated and blinged outwhile in your gathering. Suddenly everyone is asked to stand as Prophet PBUH has arrived, Astagfirullah, you people are so lost which one of you can see the Prophet PBUH walk into the room???? All the ignorant people stand and start reciting Durood waiting for Prophet PBUH to take his sest andthen are told to sit as the Prophet PBUH has sat, Astagfirullah even when i type this i get so angry at your deviant beliefs and the nerve you have to pointthe finger at others.

You put out salt, sugar, flour etc. and cover it and look for signs after your Mawlid has finished. Many ignorants then ay Prophet PBUH has left his finger prints in the salt or the name of Prophet PBUH or Allah SWT has appeared on it, Nauzubillah, lost people will remain lost until they do not turn to the Sunnah

Men and women intermixing in large gathering of Mawlid in parks etc. marching on the streets together. women dressed to the 9’s with faces plastered with make up as there is no problem because the are celebrating Eid. A 3rd Eid which dosentr exist as Allah SWT mentioned in his Holy Quran that i have given you 2Eids yet you have given yourselves a 3rd Eid because you know more and have hidden secrets

Sitting in the Mawlid gtherings and listening to the Ulama bad mouth other Muslims because they didnt attend their fireworks display which they call part of the Mawlid, little do they realise the concept behind firworks and the beliefs of pagans for which they use fireworks for there rituals, like the chinese, hidus and ancient pagans using fire not to mention again a waste of money which could be used for good causes

The s called Sunni Ulema who arrive to the Mawlid in horse carriage, bentleys, limosinese etc at the expense of the common man, Astagfirullah yet these miscreants are worshipped and prostrated to

The above are just a few examples many more can be given. No one can deny the aboveas other than the truth. You are free to see for yourseles, watch NOOR TV, UMMAH CHANNEL, TAKBEER TV, INTERNET VIDEOS, YOUTUBE etc,,, We are Muslims and not pagans so why are you acting like them and taking on there traits? No one has said do not love Prophet PBUH, you have to love Prophet PBUH more than yourselves, your families etc. but remember intention is greater than the pride of showing big cakes and lights withg fireworks. A person can sit at home or the Masjid and remenber Prophet PBUH alone or in a gathering and his sincerity accepted and rewarded even though he never had a penny to spend in the rememebrance of Allah SWT or his Prophet PBUH but the love in his heart is known to Allah and better than all the actions of the fake cake and firelworks people.

The point im making is can your celebrations not be done without all the paganism i mentioned above??? Do you intend to show others your fake love or do you intend to show Allah for the sake of Allah SWT ???

Recently in the u.k. the christmas lights are put up at christmas and soon after the Mawlid starts and the Muslim Brother and Sisters put up their lights and my kids ask me why havent the christians not taken doen their lights its been so long. If a child of 5 is linking the lights to christmas it dosent take a genius to know if it is wrong or right. Again Islam is all about your intention not what you have in material terms, only Allah sees your true intention. If you give your Ulemas licence to run riot and every year they invite you to a new innovation soon your children will not know what the true Islam is, they will have a totally distorted religion and that will totally the fault of the forefathers.

1st it was Yaarwi now its Mawid tomorrow it will be someting else.

Your point about the Birth of the greatest of creations Muhammad PBUH on the Monday is true. So why are the Ulema not persistent about getting people to fast on the Monday as the hadith is as follows:-

Sahabas asked Prophet PBUH why he fasted on Mondays
Prophet PBUH replied i was born on Monday, i got my Prophethood on Monday, the good deeds of a person are taken to Allah SWT by the angels on Monday so i want to be in the state of fasting when my deeds are taken up. If any of you wants to celebrate my birth then fast on Mondays.

Tell me how many of you do the above, the above which is an authentic hadith and advice to you and me by Prophet PBUH? But no where is it said to us to celebrate the Mawlid as i mentioned earlier??? yet you want to argue about a point where your own Ulema cannot agree if Mawlid is Sunnah, Farz, Wajib more to the point there isnt even a consensus on when the Prophet PBUH were born!!! IF it was meant to be a date for us to rememeber specifically why Allah SWT hide it????

Overall the point is divisions have been created by marking another according to the love he has for Prophet PBUH. No one has the right to say a person or group love Prophet PBUH less than others based on whether they celebrate the Mawlid or not!!!! The perso or individuals you point at could well probably love Prophet PBUH more thn you could do in 10 life times, as he may follow all the Sunnah of Prophet PBUH while you stick to the Mawlid only.

The true Aashique Rasool are the ones who follow what Prophet PBUH taught us, what they did. The one who enjoins good and forbids evil. The one who is willing to sacrificr his family for Allah SWT and his Rasool SAW. Celebrating Mawlid does not make you a lover of Prophet PBUH. Soon enough if things continue you will see a new breed of Muslims, there are the ones who you will see in the mosque on Jmmah only, or the one you will see on the 27th of Ramadhan and the ones you see at Masjid on Eid only. The new breed is the one you will see only on the Mawlid. Just as the christians went to praying daily prayers, to sunday church and now to the 25th of December the birth of their Prophet Isa AS.

The true lover lives his life according to the Sunnah of what has already been prescribed to us Muslims, so stick to it and stop innovating. But if you feel you are qualified or holy enough to introduce new things in to a already complete religion of Islam then be it on your own head.

          Wasalaam

NO INTENTION TO HURT ANYONES FEELINGS, BARELVI, WAHABI, AHLUL HADITH, SALAFI, DEOBANDI YOUR ALL MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN ISLAM …

FORGIVE ME IF I HAVE HURT YOUR FEELINGS …

          • Hussain- it may be also the possiibiity that u r interpreting the way u want to..

Volume 7, Book 62, Number 38: (Sahih Bukhari)
Narrated ‘Ursa; Thuwaiba was the freed slave girl of Abu Lahb whom he had manumitted, and then she suckled the Prophet. When Abu Lahb died, one of his relatives saw him in a dream in a very bad state and asked him, “What have you encountered?” Abu Lahb said, “I have not found any rest since I left you, except that I have been given water to drink in this (the space between his thumb and other fingers) and that is because of my manumitting Thuwaiba.”
Abu Lahab freed Thuwaiba on joy at birth of Prophet (salallaho alaihi wasalam), even the worst of Kufaar and greatest of enemies is given relaxation in his Adhaab due to freeing Thawaiba by pointing with his finger, so Imagine the situation of a momin who rejoices on Mawlid, detailed explanation of this hadith shall be given in the last section of Verdicts from classical scholars.
Volume 1, Page No. 241, Hadith No. 448 (Sunnan an Nasai’i)

Hadrat Anas bin Malik (ra) narrates that Prophet (saw) while mentioning his journey of Miraaj said: Jibril (a.s) asked me to get off from Buraak at Bethlehem and told me to say the prayer there, after which he said: Do you know where you have prayed (O Messenger of Allah)? You prayed at Bethlehem where Isa (a.s) “was born”.

So the Mawlid and the places where Prophets (A.S) are born are amongst Sha’ir (sings to be venerated) of Allah

I am from bareilly and all the allegations by you like cutting cakes and mixing of male and females are all utter nonsense ..bareilvis (ahle sunnat wal jamaat) are in majority. ..if few of them doing all this nonsense then u can’t blame all bareilvis to be bidati. just like osama was a terrorist doesn’t mean than islam preaches terrorism.. come to bareilly and c urself how we celebrate mawlid….there are black sheeps in every community…

      • i hope farhan and other will go through my post like he did saima’s… or should i post with some girls name

  43. This is a terrible article full of inaccuracies and biases. First of all, muslims are “muslims”, anyone who submits to God is a muslim.
Secondly, the labels Sunni or Wahabi put people under ecrtain banners even though not every “sunni” or “wahabi” might agree with everything other sunnis or wahabis believe in. Anyone who believes in one God, and believes in the Quran and accepts Muhammad PBUH as the final messenger of God, does not commit Shirk is a Muslim, leave the rest of the differences for God to judge. And please don’t call a person, or a group non-Muslim if the above criteria is met because it is forbidden in Islam to do so. And trust me, you gain NOTHING by calling someone non-muslim, you might only lose.

  44. BEWARE PEOPLE – PLEASE DO NOT FIGHT OR DIVIDE THIS GREAT COMMUNITY ,ITS ONLY ONE RELIGION AND ONE ISLAM AND WE ARE ALL MUSLIMS .THERE IS NO GOD BUT ALLAH AND PROPHET MOHAMMAD ( MAY PEACE AND BLESSINGS BE UPON HIM ) IS THE LAST AND FINAL MESSENGER OF ALLAH .

LOOK AT WHAT THIS SO CALLED JILLANI , i don,t think he is a muslim has to say and staying clean and creating trouble among the community .

    • Yes you are right, but the sad thing is, the “modern muslim” is so easily corrupted, as you see, even belieiving what any ignorant person, any non-believer, any enemy of Islam says… sad situation really, and those who turn away from Allah, Allah does the same to them, as we can clearly see thorughout the ‘Muslim world’. Allahul Musta’an

      • Jaza-kumullah khairan , Finally i see or read someone with a sense of Islam and its understanding here , what we see here is a total game plan from the enemies of islam with muslims names and conflicting comments to have divisions and to have it argument-ed on a false basis , ans as you see the so called modern muslims fall trap to this potholes dug by the enemies of islam .

Please enlighten the innocents from this boogie traps set by the enemies of slam .

  45. I beleive abuses and false information is very ok here to create divisions and trouble , but someone with the truth and the right info will be told as AWAITING YOUR COMMENTS OR RATHER YOUR COMMENTS IS AWAITING MODERATIONS .

  46. No matter how much you argue…Wahabi vs Sunni vs Sufi vs Shia vs everything else… At the end of the day when Judgement Day Comes and InshAllah it is soon..It’s a good thing Allah is still holding us on this planet…We don’t even deserve to breath the air on this earth even if Jannah is what I’m fighting for… This has come to the point where everything is about power and control.. I’ve seen what Wahabis do (reading Quran laying down..legs crossed over one another..Killing innocent people..etc) I’ve seen LIVE what Shias do..Because I had a Shia friend and I didn’t know that until I saw what they were doing…Hitting themselves…Bleeding..Screaming…I was just praying to Allah to get me out of there… when clearly it says You cannot hit yourself on any part of your body…Also Reading the Qur’an while a women is menstruating is STRONGLY forbidden..but guess what she did that too.. and I clearly told her that those things are forbidden if Allah says the forbidden then it is 100% like that… not some Scholars..Imams..etc how do we know that those people are not being punished right now…Only Allah knows EVERYTHING… You people say you believe in Allah…Then stop arguing over the internet and go help out Muslims over in other counties who have nothing to eat… When the heart dies..a person doesn’t even know that he is committing sin…..It is sad of what has become of this world…and noone else but us are destroying it..instead of all Muslims becoming STRONGER and unite as one…we are all fighting against each other..on top of that we have CHRISTIANS..JEWS..CATHOLICS all against us… More people are now converting to Islam and to me they are better Muslims then the once who were born Muslims.. They follow the Quran..and Sunnah..and that’s it…No sheiks or w/e else exists…Allah and Quran….When we stand in front of Allah we will see who followed what wrong… I’m just Muslim…nothing in between.. Allah didn’t make four Qur’ans one for Sunnis…Shias..Wahabis.. Sufi.. ITS ONE QUR’AN FOR ALL MUSLIM PEOPLE ….. FOLLOW THE QURAN the words of ALLAH….not the words of HUMANS…Peace out I hope one day Muslims will unite as brothers and sisters…but that will never happen..Anyway Good luck to everyone on Judgement Day….

  47. As-salam-o-alaykum, as I read all of comments i want to tell you all that 1st beware of West. And as our beloved prophet’s word the Qayamat will near1400 sidik and muslim will in great trouble and their Iman will also in trouble, they even face war b2in them. And muslim will blamed every where. 72 firkas will arise. Around the world mainly muslims are in 2 categories Sunni/Shiha. And one thing all firkas came after Sunni. Means 1st Sunni is baseground of all. Allah dedicated all universe and outside of universe to our beloved prophet. So plz keep your Iman. Cause its not acceptable at qayamat even you make tauba and want to take Iman on Allah and our beloved prophet Hazrat Muhammad Sallalahu Alehe Wasalam. My hatest are not any muslim firkas, most hatest are Americans and Israelies. Plz condemn the war against Muslims or East. Sukriya all of you 4 comments. Lastly i want 2 tell we all have iman in ancient India due to KGN. Its the karam of KGN. Neither we would Kafir. Allah sab ko sheratal mustakim par wasile se chalne ki taufik ataa farmaye, Aamin.

  48. By ‘Sunni’ you clearly mean ‘Sufi’.

  49. Assalamualaikum all..
we muslims r thankful to u dat u have considered seeking knowledge about the religion of truth i.e ISLAM.. but more than justifying the differences there is more of criticism..d real essence of islam lies in the unity.. we r all just muslims.. a person who divides islam into sects is not a muslim..had u understood the concept of islam, ur topic would hav been ‘the unity among the muslims’ ..Brother, i invite u to the religion of truth n success..may Allah grant u success in this, aameen..

  50. wahabi people are really correct in their acts according to islam and to society in this site it is said that wahabi’s dont allow their women to drive cars ect which is totally wrong

  51. Nawab Saddiq Hassan Khan Bhopali said:
“What is wrong in it if we cannot do dhikr of Prophet (salallaho alaihi wasalam)’s Seerah, his Hidaya, his Birth and his death everyday, then we should do it every month and the days of Rabi Ul Awwal should not be left empty”
    He writes further:
“A Person who does not get happy upon incidents of Mawlid and does not thank Allah for such a great blessing then SUCH A PERSON IS NOT MUSLIM”

  52. Wahabi is creation of Zina it is realy true

  53. children that born with Zina is Called WAHABI and Majority in saudi Arabia, Pakistan Afghanistan, India, Libia etc. Siphay Sahaba is a creation of Zina in Pakistan

  54. actually everything is correct in it except of the last part.

“1. Wahabi Muslims are followers of Muhammad ibne Abdul wahab present in the 18th century in Saudi Arabia whereas Sunni Muslims are followers of Prophet Muhammad and his companions.”

actually we Wahabi/Ahl-e-Hadees/Salafi are the true followers of Muhammad [SAW].

We only believe in ALLAH. no one else. nor any tombs/ta`wees/saints etc other shit.

and we strictly follow whatever Muhammad [SAW] has asked us to do.
    thats all

    JazakAllah Khair.

  55. u guise r fitin ovr these sects ov islam when allah said those hoo do not argue when they are in the right but still stop r assured a place in jannah so stop debating and appreciate that Allah swt has guided you correctly!!

  56. Allah knows the best who is right or wrong..
you may call me a wahabi or even kafir i do not mind. but listen we love muhammad and other prophets more than our life, but they were human, we donot follow any imams because we follow quran and fully authentic hadiths… we do not believe what our parent and ancestor did were right or wrong bcoz on day of qayamat every relationship other than of muhammad will be broke…

we do not ask fortunes and favours from grave bcoz allah was, is, and will be present.

do u think allah has opened his office on a particular grave then think.

allah has forbidden ziyarat of every site other than masjid al haram, masjid al nabawi and masjid al aqsa

but today most of muslim do not know the importance of masjid al aqsa but knows about dargah of falan falan baba. i do not blame the deceased in grave bcoz he might be a true muslim but still one may doubt.

one may argue what he asked on particular grave was given but allah may check your level of iman as He did in case of abraham p.b.u.h

every thing new in din is bidah and every bidah leads to jahannam.

muhammad s.a.w had prophesized there would be 73 sects in islam outof which only one would taste jannat.

YOU MAY CALL ME A WAHABI OR KAFIR OR ABUSE ME

    BUT I BELIEVE I AM A MUSLIM

    • Ten (10) PROOFS from the Qur’an and Sunnah that Celebrating the Nabi’s birthday is accepted in Shari’ah.

  57. dear all, salam alykom,,

I am really surprised that there is difference between Sunni and Wahabis.. first every body need to know that the followers of Mohamed ibn Abdul wahab shall be called Mohamadees!! not wahabis!! and this name has been given to the followers of Imam Mohamed ibn Abdul wahab by the Britain people to let the people be scared from them after they saw that his message has been spread through Arabian peninsula.

In Fact, Imam Mohamed ibn Abdul wahab was teaching the correct religion of the prophet Mohamed -peace be upon him- and to get more knowledge on this please visit http://www.islamqa.com and http://www.islamway.com

Islam is the truth religion and if you really want guidance you shall ask ALLAH trully from your heart and ALLAH will not let you alone.

    • oh really.. your imam abdul wahab was preaching the true religion of MUhammad sallalahoalaihewasalam. to kill your own muslim brothers …even animals killed other animals not their own species… and ofcourse british not only give u ur name wahabis but actually they created you ..and its always parents to give name to their children… so u shud thank them for creating and giving name… the condition of muslims is pathetic just after u guys came into existence and controls the saudi arab the centre of islam ..before that under ahle sunat wal jamath rule islam was ruling the world ..go and learn some history…

  58. Salafi or Ahlul Hadith & Deobandi both are Wahabis. Both of them follow the teaching of Mohammed bin Abdul Wahab Najdi and YAZEED.

Wahabi are not Sunni. Wahabi are Fake Sunni.

    Sunni are Sufi.

  59. As-Salamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh
Wahabi’s are not people that follow Muhammad Abdul Ibn Wahab instead of the Prophet Muhammad Sallahu Alaihi Wasallam for Muhammad Abdul Ibn Wahab teaches the people from Quran (The Words of Allah) and hadeeth (The Sunnah of the Prophet Sallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and are known as Ahli Sunnah Wal Jammah. These are people who strictly follow Quran and Sunnah to the understanding of the Salaf (Pious Predessors e.g. Sahaba’s Tabiain and Atba Tabiain) and talking about four iman’s they indeed love them and Muhammad Abdul Ibn Wahab also follows them and another thing is that Al-Wahab is Allah’s Name and was giving to the people who are stictly upon Quran and Sunnah and who teach tawheed. Akhi’s stop assuming what you think they are and what their upon for Allah is the knower of the seen and unseen and knows what conseal and reveal. If any doubt in what I’m saying than check this video by Abu Mussab – Exposing Wahabism

  60. WOW, change the title right now. Sunni’s are the actual true followers of Islam. They do not celebrate the birthdays of the Prophets, let alone saints. They do not believe Prophet Muhammad is on this Earth as Nur, wow. Ignorance at its finest. If anything, this article should be titled “Suffi vs. Wahabi”, not Sunni.
