If you believe that the world of television and motion pictures is glamorous then you’re not wrong! But the hard work and commitment shown by the artists for the success of a movie cannot be overlooked.

A magnificent piece of art (documentary), a best television show, and the most inspiring motion picture cannot be arbitrated just on the basis of money and views and opinions offered by critics. To justify their worth in front of the whole world some prestigious awards are given to them. They are given to those stars and artists who were directly or indirectly associated with that television show or motion picture. Awards are given in various categories to encourage the winners and to inspire others.

The preeminent awards in the field of motion pictures and arts include The Golden Globe Awards and The Academy Awards.
The Golden Globe Awards are distributed annually by the HFPA i.e. Hollywood Foreign Press Association. It is given in both domestic and foreign categories. The Academy Awards popularly known as the Oscars are undoubtedly the most prestigious in all awards. It is awarded by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The Golden Globe Awards are always followed by the Oscars. In other words, we can say that, the Oscars are always preceded by The Golden Globe Awards.
The first Academy Awards ceremony was held on May 16, 1929. The venue for the ceremony was Hotel Roosevelt located in the Hollywood. The first Golden Globe Awards ceremony was held in the year 1944 (in the month of January). The venue for the ceremony was the 20th Century Fox studios located in the Los Angeles, California.

The Golden Globe Awards are given to all the forms of media, but Academy Awards are given only to the motion pictures (including both documentary & animation feature films). Yes, in case of Oscars separate awards are given to writer(s), an original music score, cinematography and screenplay. Posthumous nominations and awards are common in both Golden Globes and Oscars.

The voting system followed by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (for Golden Globes) and American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (for Oscars) are quite distinct from one another. The voting in Golden Globe is done by the international journalists who are living in Hollywood and are affiliated with the media outside the USA. In case of Oscar, the voting is done by the academy’s committee members. The voting bloc is divided into different categories like for actors, directors, writers and so on. Presently, the actors comprise the major voting bloc in the Oscars.
