Honda Accord vs Mazda 6

Both these cars are actually targeted at the higher end of the mid size car market.

Accord 2010 is built on a platform that was first introduced in 1976 and has undergone various design and technology upgrades since. The Mazda 6 comes on a platform that was first introduced in 2002 but has already proven itself.

Let us compare the 4 door sedan from both these models. Accord 2010 comes with a 2.4 liter I-VTEC engine that delivers 177 BHP. Mazda 6 comes with a 2.5 liter DOHC engine that delivers 170 BHP. The fuel economy offered by the Accord as claimed by the company is 22 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway. Mazda 6 on the other hand is offering 20 MPG in the city while 29 on the highway.

As far as the dimensions of the car are concerned both the cars tie almost neck to neck with all the safety features as well as the dimensions. The Honda Accord however offers a few conveniences not offered by the Mazda 6 like keyless entry and folding side mirrors. Not many differences in the features apart from these.

The Honda Accord Sedan LX Manual Transmission is listed at a base MSRP of USD 21,055/- whereas the 2010 Mazda 6 i SV is listed at a base MSRP of USD 18,450/-. Adding a destination charge for Accord and Mazda of USD 710/- and USD 750/- respectively the comparable price works out to USD 21,765/- for an Accord and USD 19,200/- for Mazda 6.
