Difference Between Adenomyosis and Endometriosis

Adenomyosis vs Endometriosis

Females are considered as the bearer of life and the hope of an entire species. This is especially true for human beings. We consider our females as the ones that deliver our offspring and with that, promote the survival of the human race. Although males and females may be almost structurally the same, given they both have the same number of organs and systems, they differ in one system, and that is the reproductive system. This is because females bear the sole responsibility of giving birth and of raising a child for 9 months inside their own womb. And also, we have to know something about the reproductive systems and the disease conditions associated with it.

The female reproductive system is entirely different with that of its male counterpart. The major parts of this system include the vagina, ovaries, fallopian tube, and the uterus. Furthermore, the reproductive system behaves in a more different way, with monthly maturation of a fertile egg cell that lies and waits for sterilization. On the other hand, the other parts prepare for fertilization, and among them, the uterus has a major role to play. The uterus undergoes changes in response to the different hormones secreted when a female is fertile. These changes occur without problems and women seldom experience any pain, although they may feel subtle hints and changes regarding their body.

But still, there are times wherein problems and conditions do occur. The reproductive system is entirely susceptible to hormonal changes or even due to genetic factors. Usually, the uterus is affected, but other times, abnormal growth may also occur in other areas of the reproductive system. Although there are many conditions that affect a female’s reproductive system, there are two conditions that may not be entirely differentiated from each other. And these are, Adenomyosis and Endometriosis.

First is adenomyosis. In this condition, the endometrial tissue, which is normally located lining the outside of the uterus, abnormally grows inside and located in the muscular walls of the uterus. Aside from that, this condition occurs when you already delivered a child, and usually develops later in life. This is entirely different from that of endometriosis.
On the other hand, endometriosis is a condition wherein there is an abnormal growth endometrial tissue in other areas of the reproductive system other than the uterus. In this case, endometrial tissues may be found in the ovaries, fallopian tube, and even near the pelvic area. And also, this condition may occur even when you have not delivered a child yet.
