Pregnancy vs period

Pregnancy and period are stages that a normal woman encounters. It means she have healthy ovaries to be able to experience these two wonders. These are the characteristics that set women apart from men. And these are the characteristics that really make women a woman. The absence of the other means the presence of the other. A woman gets her period once or twice a month to tell her body’s cleaning itself and she’s not pregnant. If her period does not arrive, it could mean a lot of different things like abnormality inside the ovary OR it could mean that she’s pregnant. A woman’s first ever encountered symptom when she’s pregnant is the absence of her menstrual period. After pregnancy the regular menstrual cycle occurs again. So the absence of the other means the presence of the other.

Pregnancy, to begin with, is a difficult stage for a woman. It’s very uncomfortable because the mother will have to suffer from different symptoms such as weight gain, constant nausea, morning sickness, swollen ankle, constipation, back pain, breast swelling and a lot more difficult but normal pregnancy symptoms. Plenty of women consider it a blessing and others consider it as a curse. It varies really. Although it is a common occurring, the experience would be totally different that is why opinions also vary. Pregnancy is considered as the stage of a woman’s life that completes her. Although in this modern times the view about pregnancy as what completes a woman has become limited, there are still those who are more than willing to give their lives just to give life in this world. Pregnancy in medical terms is described as the carrying of an offspring known as a fetus inside the womb. It ideally lasts for 9 months, lesser than that occurs only when something bad happened inside and outside a mother’s womb. 9 months is the entire duration for an embryo to develop into a full blown baby. Pregnancy occurs when a sperm cell meets a healthy egg cell inside the uterus. Fertilization occurs then voila! Pregnancy. But it’s not as easy as it sounds because thousands of women out there, even though they are fertile, have difficulty getting pregnant. That is why options such as adoption and artificial insemination became available. Did you know that the youngest woman to have borne a child was 5 years old?

Period on the other hand is called menstrual cycle in medical terms. It’s every girl’s passage to become a woman. It’s the first sign of puberty that occurs when a girl hits 8 to 12 years old. Although some cases have it earlier or later in life, the normal would be about before a girl enters high school. Some signs of puberty involve rounding of the hips, growth of the breast, prominence of cheek bones, the very first period, and other developments caused by the hormones. Vaginal discharge also occurs 6 months before a girl’s first period. These are just some of the noticeable changes that normally freak out girls that is why some girls are anxious to arrive at this turning point in their lives.

SUMMARY:

Both period and pregnancy are normal stages that a woman should pass in her life.

Both are perceived as uncomfortable stages, however, makes a woman feel complete.

The absence of the other could mean the presence of the other.
