Differences Between Dyslipidemia And Hyperlipidemia

Dyslipidemia vs Hyperlipidemia

In keeping our body healthy, there are some things that we need to be aware of, and not just the right kinds of food and knowing what types of food we should avoid. Another bit of information that would be useful would be a couple of terms that would explain to us the different levels of fat and cholesterol. In this article, we will be talking about the differences between dyslipidemia and hyperlipidemia.

What is Dyslipidemia?

Dyslipidemia is a condition in the body that is marked by abnormal concentration of lipids or lipoproteins in the blood. This means that your body has an abnormal amount, whether higher or lower, of lipids, and examples are cholesterol or fat, in your blood. Lipids are important in the body, but then again, just like everything else, if they are in excess, it will cause something negative. There are two types of cholesterol in the body: the good cholesterol, also known as HDL, also called high density lipoprotein; and the bad cholesterol, also known as LDL, also called low density lipoprotein. If you have dyslipidemia, the level of cholesterol is either too high or too low.

What is Hyperlipidemia?

Hyperlipidemia, on the other hand, is a condition wherein the level of fat and cholesterol in your body is too high.
In a nutshell, when you talk about dyslipidemia, it is the abnormal level of fat or cholesterol in your body, while hyperlipidemia is more on a higher level of fat or cholesterol. This is why you need to be more conscious of your diet, and this is not just all about your weight. Diet, as many people misinterpret and incorrectly assume, is about eating right … not eating less. When you read through many articles online and through books, you will notice that when people talk about diet, the focus is really more on lessening what they eat, but ultimately it is all about eating right.

If you feel that somehow there is something wrong with your lifestyle and how your body feels, whether it’s too light or too heavy, you might want to consult with a dietician, or simply visit your doctor to know what is happening to you. Some people may be a little heavier than what is ‘normal’ for their height and several factors, but they are physically fit, so there is really no big danger. Some may be really thin but are just as physically fit, so there is really no real danger there, either. Some people may ‘look’ right, but their diet is quite problematic, with too much fried foods, and many types of food that are in their diet that would ultimately be harmful in the long run. Then there should be a visit to the doctor to make sure that internally the body is still functioning properly.

SUMMARY:

Your body will always manifest problems that are experienced internally. When you don’t take the time to listen to your ‘body,’ eventually and one by one, the different parts of your body will shut down and function incorrectly. While your body has the right amount of fat and cholesterol, there might come a time when your diet, when not taken care of, will increase the fat and cholesterol in your body. Dyslipidemia is about having abnormal levels of fat and cholesterol. Hyperlipidemia is about having a high level of fat and cholesterol in your body.
One might think that both terms are basically just the same things, but they aren’t … not really. When we talk about symptoms, though, the similarities might come in. This is why you should be more cautious and watchful with your body and probably the little signs that it might show you, if there is something wrong.
Remember, it is all about eating …it is all about your diet. With the right kinds of food plus the necessary exercise, even if it is just a 10-15 minute walk around your backyard … that may be what your heart and body would need just to keep your heart pumping, and pumping correctly.

  2. Who wrote this article? This is unbelievably unhelpful. It literally says the difference is that both have high fat and cholesterol. Awful.
