And you may also have come across various CBD products in the market. While CBD products are praised for their health benefits, people barely get to understand. In this article, we will look at hemp, which is one of the main species of the cannabis Sativa plant. Is there a difference between hemp extract and hemp oil?

What is Hemp Extract?

Hemp and the cannabis plant are closely related, hence easily confused with each other. Hemp has a high level of cannabidiol (CBD) and low tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) levels, which is the compound that makes users high.

Hemp extracts have various uses such as making paper, soaps, balms, building materials, lotions and even hemp clothing. Hemp extracts support immunity, healthy skin and cardiovascular health hence the massive use in dietary supplements and beauty products

Hemp extracts are derived from the stalk, flowers and even seeds of the hemp plant. However, hemp extracts derived from industrial hemp do not contain THC and CBD. However, it may contain other plant compounds that can interact with the endocannabinoid system.

What is Hemp Oil?

Also referred to as hemp seed oil, this is a by-product of cold-pressed hemp seeds. It is an unrefined product and often has a nutty flavour and a green colour. Hemp seed oil does not contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) which is the psychoactive component.

Hemp seed oil has an array of skin benefits such as treating acne, psoriasis, eczema and lichen planus. It is often used orally or topically. Despite the health benefits, it’s advisable to seek medical professional help as hemp seed oil has negative side effects

  1. Most people know that hemp makes paper and fabrics and that American money used to be printed on hemp paper.
You write that hemp seed extract does not contain CBD or THC, is used for cosmetics or whatever else. What does the CBD come from then? Where is the part abt the weed oil that gets people high? That should be included in this. Good marijuana doesn’t even have seeds so I don’t know where this information comes from, doesn’t seem 100% accurate to me. I’ve known people to make marijuana oil in a process that involves Butane but that’s all I know about it. People can buy this kind of marijuana oil with
CBD, with THC, or both combined. Depends on the flower buds it comes from.

  2. American Paper money used to be printed on hemp paper. You have forgotten to explain where CBD comes from if it doesn’t come from hemp. You stated industrial hemp doesn’t have it, so where does it come from? You forgot marijuana oil that is concentrated and cannot possibly come from marijuana seeds because in super marijuana there are no seeds. So I cast a little doubt on this story.

  3. What about marijuana oil? That’s not included?
