Difference Between ISTJ and INTJ

ISTJ vs INTJ

People have varying personalities. Some are born nice. Some are born mean. With certain personality theories, people can always find themselves attached to a very particular personality trait. This trait fits them perfectly and describes why and how they are acting out. These personality types developed by psychologists and doctors can help people answer their own questions regarding themselves. The psychology of the mind is greatly embedded in these concepts to fully explain why a person is the way they are.

During the era of World War II, two women, one who is the mother and the other is the daughter ( Ms. Myers and Ms. Briggs) developed and published a book of 16 personality types. They did this in order for women to assess which type of job they are comfortable working with. By identifying certain dichotomies, people can identify what kind of certain personality they have. This is also based from Carl Jung’s psychology of personality.

Two of these 16 types of personality that will be discussed in this article are ISTJ and INTJ.
ISTJ is “Introverted Sensing Thinking Judging.” It is also known as the “Duty Fulfiller.” In this type of personality, the person can perform the tasks excellently because he or she has a strong sense of tasks plus motivation. He or she is a mostly quiet being who always wants peace and order. The person enjoys mostly working alone and can spend a lot of time working on a task he or she is very interested at. ISTJ people are also perfectionists and frequently do not have sympathy for other people’s emotions and feelings. ISTJ people, in summary, are effective individuals with great potential and capabilities. Examples of careers for ISTJ people are: doctors, lawyers, police, detectives, business executives, military leaders, and a lot more.

INTJ, on the other hand, is “Introverted Intuitive Thinking Judging.” It is also known as “The Scientist.” They live through ideas and judgment. They think for the long term and not the short term. They also see things in a bigger perspective rather than the small details. They are ambitious people. They also possess a great amount of self-confidence. INTJ’s are fond of thinking about themselves inside their minds than thinking about others and being more affectionate. They are also born leaders in their own ways. They are effective leaders who are doing things objectively rather than in a subjective manner which is the ideal. Great careers for this type of people are: scientists, engineers, professors, computer programmers, and a lot more.

The major difference between ISTJ and INTJ people is the sensing versus intuition portion which is the second letter of both words. In ISTJ, they use their sensing capabilities to act on or decide on a certain thing. In INTJ people, they use their intuitions when thinking and deciding. They are also quick in understanding concepts.

Summary:

1.ISTJ is more focused on the sensing aspect rather than intuition when thinking and deciding issues as opposed to INTJ.
2.ISTJ is also known as the “Duty Fulfiller” while an INTJ is known as “The Scientist.”
3.ISTJ people do tasks like being a follower while INTJ people create ideas for people to benefit from just like being a leader.
4.ISTJ careers are: doctors, police, and detectives while INTJ careers are: scientists, engineers, and professors.

  1. ‘N’ as abstract analyticals; ‘S’ as in grounded empiricists. INTJ as scientist. ISTJ as engineer.
