Differences Between MS Outlook and MS Outlook Express

MS Outlook vs MS Outlook Express

Microsoft Corporation is the world’s dominant computer developer and manufacturer. It started gaining fame with its Disk Operating System (DOS) computer operating system. From there, it moved on to other software programs including MS Outlook for Microsoft Office and MS Outlook Express for Internet Explorer.

MS Outlook is a messaging and collaboration client that is used in Microsoft Office, Exchange Server, and Internet Explorer 5.5. It is a personal information manager that offers users complete integration of email, calendar, and contact management.

It makes communication and information sharing more effective because it helps with organizing the information stored in Microsoft Office applications. It is designed for use with internet, voice mail, and other communication systems that support Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI).

MS Outlook Express has a different application from MS Outlook. Although they share a common architectural philosophy, they do not have the same codebase. Ms Outlook Express uses the Windows Address Book to store information.

It has several versions of Microsoft Windows and is included in the Internet Explorer 4.0 and 6.0. It is being replaced by Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail. Unlike MS Outlook it does not have a documented object model. This means that access and control of MS Outlook Express messaging applications and plugins are not officially documented and supported by Microsoft.

It is built on open standards and can be used with any internet standard system like Internet Mail Access Protocol (IMAP). It allows users to take advantage of new technologies but it is known to have many setbacks. It does not allow message storing in a server and can only be used in a single computer.

It also does not have a spell checker and can have security problems. When using MS Outlook Express, users often experience email virus infections due to its support of HTML e-mail and scripts. A new version has been developed to address this problem but future support for MS Outlook Express will eventually be discontinued in favor of Windows Live Mail.

  1. Outlook Express is impossible to use. first it asks you for your email address and pasword. But them it asks you for your incoming POP server-I don’t know that. and then it asked you for your outgoing SMTP server-I don’t know that. And so I cannot set it up because I don’t know what my POP server is. And most other people don’t know either. I now have Windows 7 which has Windows Live Mail but it has the same system as Outlook express. I think it could be a later version of it. And all other email clients I have tried are the same as Outlook express so you cannot use them. I think that they should re name Outlook Exprees and other clones of it,Windows Live Mail,SeaMonkey Mail and others- THE EMAIL THAT NOBODY CAN USE. Because all the people I know including me cannot get them set up and runing to use them. Andrea Borman.
