Realtor vs Broker

The terms “realtor” and “broker” or “real estate broker” are titles that have been used interchangeably by some to refer to those who specialize in the trade or transactions relating to real estate. However, these two are different from each other, and a clean line of distinction must be drawn between them.

You cannot blame people who are not well versed with the industry of real estate to claim that a realtor and broker are one and the same. In some aspects, they are actually right because a broker can be a realtor, but not all brokers are considered realtors. In addition, several countries observe different approaches in real estate, and this includes the overlapping in roles between estate brokers and estate agents. Some nations even consider agents and brokers as one and the same.

That’s why they are often the top pick for most buyers or sellers. Most especially, in larger suburban to urban areas, realtors are more preferred as opposed to brokers. In a smaller town, however, a generic broker can just serve for the same purpose.
