American vs French Manicures

One of the main differences between the American manicure and the French Manicure is the color of the tip of the nail. The French manicure has a white tip with a pink base. On the other hand, the American manicure also comes with a white tip, but it’s base is a light beige.

It is said that Max Factor invented the French Manicure in the 1930’s. However, it is hard to trace the origins of the American manicure.

Unlike the French manicure style, the American manicure comes in a softer version. While the American manicure uses creamier colors, the French manicure uses stark white colors. Well, the American manicure is considered to have a more natural look, which give the nails an untouched look. When using the American manicure, the nails appear to be clean, and more polished.

When compared to the American manicure, the French manicure only coats a quarter of the nails. Some people consider the French manicure to have a very sophisticated look.

When talking of the colors used for the tip, mostly Orly White or Alpine Snow are used for the French manicure. On the contrary, Swedish Nude and Kyoto Pearl are used for American Manicures.

Unlike the French manicure, the American manicure offers incredible simplicity. Another difference that can be seen between the two manicure styles is in the shape of the nails.
