Mazda 3 vs Mazda 6
Among the many car types of Mazda, the Mazda 3 and Mazda 6 are probably the most popular among common buyers. The main difference between the Mazda 3 and Mazda 6 is their classification and size. While the Mazda 6 is a midsize car, the Mazda 3 is a compact, which means that the Mazda 3 is slightly smaller than the Mazda 6.
It may not be very apparent when looking at the front of the cars as the Mazda 6 is only 3 inches wider than the Mazda 3, but the 13 inch difference in length would leave no doubt about which car is larger. This difference is very apparent with the volume you get inside the car. The interior of the Mazda 6 has an additional 7 cubic feet of space, which directly translates to more headroom, shoulder room, hip room, and leg room. The size difference is also reflected in trunk space because the Mazda 6 has roughly 5 cubic feet of additional trunk space. And even the fuel tank of the Mazda 6 is bigger. Roughly 3 gallons of additional fuel capacity is really good for those long drives.
Everything is really bigger with the Mazda 6, including the engine. Engine options for the Mazda 6 only include a 2.0L and 2.5L 4 cylinder engines. In contrast, you can get a 2.5L 5 4 cylinder engine with the Mazda 6 or you can get a 3.7L V6. The two options for the Mazda 6 put out a lot more horsepower than their counterparts. Even when you compare both 2.5L engines, the Mazda 6’s engine can put out a slight bit more.
Quite surprisingly, the Mazda 6 is able to achieve better fuel mileage over the Mazda 3. When comparing the fuel mileage of the 2.5L models, the Mazda 6 can get 21 city and 30 highway while the Mazda 3 can only manage 20 and 28 respectively. Of course, you get better mileage if you choose the smaller Mazda 3 engine or worse if you get the bigger V6 engine of the Mazda 6.
