MCAT vs PCAT

MCAT, or Medical College Admission Test, is an examination for getting admission to medical studies. PACT, or Pharmacy College Admission Test, is the exam for getting admission to the pharmacy colleges.

The PCAT has seven sections which takes about six hours. The sections include: quantitative ability, verbal ability, chemistry, biology, writing sections, and a comprehension section.

The MCAT consists of four sections like: physical sciences, verbal reasoning, writing sample, and biological sciences.
In both the MCAT and PCAT exams, no penalty or negative marks are given for wrong answers. Moreover, no calculators are allowed in both tests.
Though both the tests have biology, it is less intensive in the Pharmacy College Admission Test than the Medical College Admission Test. In PCAT, biology topics cover different phyla and categories like that. On the other hand, the MCAT has topics related to the human body and bacteria.

One of the main differences between PCAT and MCAT is in the focus of the examination. In PCAT, the main focus is on the content whereas the MCAT is less focused on the content. In PCAT, one should have the knowledge of the things that could be asked. In MCAT, the test primarily focuses on critical thinking by asking you to read the given passages and then answering the questions.

PCAT gives more emphasis on test-taking ability. MCAT gives emphasis on retrieving knowledge. This means reading long passages and quickly answering questions.

When comparing the questions, MCAT has harder questions than the PCAT. This means that the MCAT is slightly more difficult than the PCAT.
