The iPhone 4 and 4s are two of the dominating models of iPhone before the release of the iPhone 5. They might appear to be very similar to the untrained eyes, but are practically a lot different in many features. Let’s check out the basic differences among the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S.

Although both the phones are quite similar from the exterior, the iPhone 4S features an access panel on the right side of the body for Micro SIM card. On the iPhone 4S, the camera is 8 megapixel and shoots video at 1080p at 30 FPS, where the iPhone 4 has a 5 megapixel camera and shoots video at 720p at 30 FPS. The iPhone 4 models feature an audio playback of 40 hours, video playback of 10 hours and 3G internet of 6 hours. In the iPhone 4S, the 3G talk-time has been increased to 8 hours and the Wi-Fi internet has gone down to 9 hours from 10 hours. The standby time has also reduced to 200 hours from the 300 hours on iPhone 4. Due to the improved graphics, the iPhone 4S consumes more battery power compared to the iPhone 4.

The iPhone 4S is a dual-antenna phone supporting both GSM and CDMA networks of varying frequencies. It supports a faster Bluetooth and HSDPA up to a maximum limit of 14.4 megabytes per second, whereas the iPhone 4 supports and older USB 2.1+ and the maximum speed of the HSDPA transfer is 7.2 megabytes per second. The iPhone 4S is a lot more powerful with an A5 processor compared to the slower A4 processor on iPhone 4. The processor speed is twice faster in iPhone 4S than the iPhone 4 and the graphic performance is seven times better than the previous model.

The iPhone 4 fully supports iOS 5, but partially supports iOS 6 and iOS 7. On the other hand, the iPhone 4S fully supports iOS 5 and iOS 6, but partially supports iOS 7.
