HTC Pyramid VS Apple iPhone 4

Naming a smartphone involves a bit of imagination from manufacturer in order to intrigue and entice buyers. What is now known to be the HTC Sensation was once rumored to be the HTC Pyramid. The difference between the Pyramid and the iPhone 4 that you would easily notice is the size of their screens. While the iPhone 4 has an average 3.5 inch screen, the Pyramid has a monstrous 4.3 inch screen. Having a large screen has its pros and cons. On one hand, you get more viewing space and you can watch movies or browse the internet with relative ease. On the other, users with small hands may have difficulty operating the phone with just one hand.

Another difference between the Pyramid and the iPhone 4 is the hardware powering them. The iPhone 4 has the A4 chipset that has a 1Ghz processor underclocked to 800Mhz. That is a lot less powerful than the 1.2Ghz clock speed, not even considering that it has two cores, in the Snapdragon chipset of the of the Pyramid. Increased processing power is always desirable especially when you have multiple apps running at the same time.

And then, there’s the camera. The iPhone 4 has a 5 megapixel camera, which is pretty good. But, the Pyramid ups this with an 8 megapixel camera for larger and clearer pictures. It is also equipped with dual LED flashes for even better low light photos. Video recording capabilities of the Pyramid is also better than that of the iPhone 4; with the two phones recording at a maximum 1080p and 720p respectively. The ability to record at higher resolutions though, is not due to the cameras as both cameras are able to do this. The iPhone 4 is not able to record at 1080p because of the processor’s inability to process the images fast enough.

Lastly, large amounts of internal memory is one of the key characteristics of Apple products; the iPhone 4 comes in 16Gb and 32GB models. This is necessary as they do not include a memory card slot. While the Pyramid just has a gigabyte of internal memory, the supplied 8GB memory card supplements the storage capacity and can even be replaced with higher capacity memory cards at the user’s pleasure.
