Nokia N97 vs Nokia N97 Mini

It is obvious by the name that the N97 mini is simply a smaller version of the N97; thus their biggest difference is size. But aside from the general size and weight, there are also a few things that are smaller on the N97 mini. The one we can easily see is the screen. Instead of the 3.5 inch screen on the N97, the mini only has a 3.2 inch screen; they are identical in all other aspects though and the mini simply has a higher pixel density than the N97.

Another area where the N97 mini takes a hit is in internal memory. While the N97 packs a whopping 32GB of internal memory, the mini only has a quarter of that at 8GB. A microSD memory card slot is available though, so you can simply add a card if you run out of space.

Many phones nowadays have FM radios as an alternative to the music player. What most doesn’t have is an FM transmitter. This feature is in the N97 but was removed in the N97 mini. The FM transmitter allows the N97 to transmit sound to any FM frequency within a short range. With it, you can stream your music to your car stereo, home stereo, or any FM radio. With the FM transmitter, you can easily stream to a great number of devices without the need for wires.

The N97 mini inherits the camera of its bigger sibling but with one minor, yet probably essential, omission. The N97 mini camera has a lens cover that should keep the camera lens protected from scratches and impact when it is not in use. This can be very helpful if you keep your camera in your bag or pocket where it can hit keys or other solid and sharp objects. The N97 mini doesn’t have a lens cover so you should be extra careful about where you place it. Having a scratch on the lens would ruin any image you take as the scratch would probably appear amplified in every photo.
