Difference Between Lumix TZ4 and Lumix TZ5

Lumix TZ4 vs Lumix TZ5

Although the Lumix TZ4 and Lumix TZ5 were introduced at the same time, they do not have identical specifications to give users the option to opt for a cheaper camera with moderate features or a pricier one with more. The main difference between the two would be their sensor resolution. The TZ4 has an 8.1 megapixel sensor while TZ5 has a 9.1 megapixel sensor. The resolution of the sensor dictates how fine your photo is or how large you can have it printed without any loss of detail.

Another change in the hardware of the TZ5 is the increase in the quality and size of its LCD. It sports a 3- inch LCD screen with 460k pixels while the TZ4 has a 2.5 inch LCD screen with 230k pixels. The bigger screen lets one see more of the image while the higher resolution lets one see more of the details, especially when zooming in to a photo one already took.

The TZ5 also has features that one would not find in its sibling. Although both cameras are able to record videos, only the TZ5 is able to record HD quality video at 720p. HD quality video means that photos would look better when viewed on a HD TV or a computer. The TZ5 also has the ability to correct red-eye effects, which occur very often when one uses the flash, right on the camera. This is not such a deal breaker as one can accomplish the same thing on a computer with any imaging software.

Although this might not be such a fair comparison as the cameras do not have the same resolution, it is worth noting that the TZ4 shoots faster at full resolution than the TZ5. The TZ4 is able to capture 7 images per second in normal mode while the TZ5 is able to capture only 5. These values would change depending on the settings one uses while one shoots the photos.

Summary:

1. The TZ4 has an 8.1 megapixel sensor while the TZ5 has a 9.1 megapixel sensor.

2. The TZ4 has a 2.5 inch LCD screen while the TZ5 has a 3 inch LCD.

3. The TZ4 cannot record a 720p video, which the TZ5 can.

4. The TZ4 lacks the red eye correction capability of the TZ5

5. The TZ4 is able to shoot more images continuously at full resolution than the TZ5.
