Difference between RDF and OWL

RDF vs OWL

The semantic web makes use of RDF and OWL which occur in two layers. A background check of the two is very important in giving necessary details of the specific differences between the two. RDF in actual sense is an acronym for Resource Description Framework while OWL, on the other hand, is an acronym that refers to Ontology Web Language. RDF is a special framework found online that is tasked with the representation of online exchange of data. OWL, on the contrary, is a special language used in the description of ontologies online.

There are numerous differences that bring in the challenge of identifying which of the two ought to be employed, depending on the specific circumstances. It is these differences between these two very common languages in the semantic web. It is of importance to note that the two technologies are controlled by RIF, also referred to as the Rule Interchange Format. RIF was developed to assist in the control of the different need values online.

RDF refers to only the structure of data as is available and it ought not to be confused with OWL. A mention of OWL brings reference to the different semantic relationships of which bring in various programming practices. OWL in many cases makes reference to the C structure.

RDF mainly functions in the definition of additional structure to triples. In simple terms, triples can be referred to as the data normalization of which is applied in various extremes. Their source is varied and a single specific database is used, thus eliminating the need to make use of reconfigurations.

When it comes to the schema, the use of RDF, which is legally used in the creation of various classes and relationships, is employed. This schema functions in definition of various classes that are used in direct representation of the object, subject and predicate. It can therefore be concluded that the use of RDF can be employed in the making of RDF and other relationships between them as well.

Exportation of content in RDF is allowed and this makes it quite easy to make content that is robust and can be used in numerous other formats such as RDF and XML to even non XML formats such as N3. In as much as RDF+XML can be used, it comes with its fair share of shortcomings. To avoid problems with RDF, it is recommended that the use of N3 be employed, as it is quite easy to read and it has strict subsets which specifically reduce problems. RDF should therefore be understood as a great method of working with Triples and not as a unique format on its own.

OWL is also unique in that it allows for a person to talk about many similar issues. It can thus be used when doing a comparison or working with similar items. OWL makes use of this method to join data in many different sites. It should also be mentioned that the use of OWL is the best solution to use when there is a need to make implicit inferences.

Summary

RDF refers to Resource Description Framework
OWL refers to Web Ontology Language
Definition of additional structure to Triples makes use of RDF
Whenever OWL is used, it refers to C structure language in many instances
RDF used in legal classes and relationship creation
Exportation of content easy on RDF
OWL is excellent for making comparisons
OWL is an excellent solution when there is a need to make implicit inferences
