Cable vs Network

Cable television is a system that provides various channels to the consumers through radio frequency signals transmitted using cables. Network television is a system of providing various channels to the consumers directly to their television through the air, which uses radio waves.

In cable television, cables are used to transmit the broadcasting programmes to the television whereas antenna brings the transmitted programmes to the television set in Network TV.

A network can also be said to be a distribution network for TV content, which has a central operation system.

Until the 1980’s, TV was not that popular and the programming was dominated by only a few broadcast networks. It was in the 1948s that cable TV was popularised. When the broadcast failed in regions where the reception of signals was limited, large community antennas were built and cables were run from it to the houses.

Now a day, people prefer cable to network. This is because cable TV delivers high quality sounds and pictures when compared to network TV.

When comparing the cost, cable TV is a bit costly. After installing an antenna, one can get network TV. But in the case of cable TV, there is a need for drawing cables and also set boxes in case, which is costly. The infrastructure that has to be developed in cables is more than that in Network TV.

Yet, an advantage of cable TV is that the service providers would offer bundled packages that would include Internet, telephone along withy the cables. When looking at the bundled packages, the cable TV is worth.
