Difference Between Catholic Bible and King James Bible

Catholic Bible vs. King James Bible

There has been a lot of confusion surrounding the Holy Bible that both Roman Catholic s and Protestants use, because of the varied versions that have been printed and distributed throughout the world today. It may be because of the never ending dispute between Catholics and Protestants on what should be and shouldn’t be included in the Christian Bible that lights the continuity of the said argument.

The Catholic Bible is actually the generic term for the Christian Bible. By nature, it includes the so-called Old and New Testaments. It includes the 5th century Latin Vulgate, which is primarily St. Jerome’s work.

Conversely, the King James Bible version is just one of the many versions of the Holy Book circulated throughout. Some of the other versions made or edited by Roman Catholics include: The Latin Vulgate itself, the Douay-Rheims Version, The Jerusalem Bible and the New American Bible, amongst many others.

At the dawn of the 17th century, the making of the King James Bible version was initiated by the English King James the First. It was said to have been completed around 1611. The King James Version (KJV) is regarded as one of the first English translations of the Catholic Bible, with the Great Bible and the Bishops Bible as its first two English predecessors. The KJV was translated or written with the use of the most original manuscripts in Hebrew and Greek. The problem with the translating process at that time was that the translators were mostly pure Englishmen, with limited knowledge of Hebrew. There were also a small number of texts to which their new version had to be based, including the Greek Textus Receptus for the New Testament and the Hebrew Masoteric for the Old Testament. Their translation also included the Apocrypha, although newer versions of such do not include the said books. Moreover, the scholars who were tasked by the king to do the translation asked for little or no help from anyone in translating the Catholic Bible. The result is a book that contained lots of errors. No wonder there has been many revised versions of this English Bible, named the New King James Version.

Overall, no matter what Bible version you are reading, more or less the message remains the same. Even if the phrasing and wordings are somewhat altered, almost all Bible versions, including the KJV, tells of the same message about God. All in all:

1. The Catholic Bible is a more generic term for the Holy Bible.

2. The KJV is just one of the many other versions of the Holy Bible.

Here are some of the interesting questions:

So what bible do Catholics use? Roman catholic bible?

Catholics use the New American Bible.

Was king James catholic?

King James was brought up in the Presbyterian church. He was baptized in a Roman Catholic church and learned Anglican during his rule.

In my view this is the best possible way to increase the confusion.

    • i think so too..^^ lol

      • King James was not English!!!! In May 1601, King James VI of Scotland attended the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland at St Columba’s Church in Burntisland, Fife, at which proposals were put forward for a new translation of the Bible into English. It is not a problem that the bible was translated by 47 English speaking scholars as its very purpose was not to make a bad translation good, but a good translation better, and says that “we do not deny, nay we affirm and avow, that the very meanest translation of the Bible in English, set forth by men of our profession … containeth the word of God, nay, is the word of God” in English!!

        • Its all a plagerism and lie.
all can be traced back to mesopotamia, summeria.
same shit, names changed, stories ellaborated and twisted.
          egypt twisted it after mesopotamia.
then all the kingdoms plagerised since.
The only way and answer tom live life towards what we call the creator or creation, is…

          as pure as pure water.
after all it is the best conductor of energy.
all the other crap, back to the abyss with it.

          • Stop trying to sound smart. Your so obviously trying to say “evolution” is where we came from and not God. Using big and confusing words must make you feel somewhat special aye… i could use big words also but i like people to understand what i say.

          • AMEN!

          • If u studied u could sound intelligent like him instead of sounding like someone who does not read or study. The Bible tells u in all getting get understanding.

Black people have melanin aka carbon in their skin which directly links them to the sun and the universe. When they don’t get enough sun, they suffer from vitamin d deficiency. This can be proven.
Faith is just a means to keep u believing in things/ideas/concepts u can’t prove. You are the God u seek. It makes u weak to give your power to an unidentifiable entity whom the human brain won’t whole heartedly let u believe in. The human mind needs proof to accept truth. For instance someone can tell a child a stove is hot but he or she won’t believe it until they touch it and FEEL that it’s hot. A woman can be told her man is cheating but won’t accept it as fact until she witnesses it. Point being the human brain requires confirmation to accept things/ideas/feelings as truth. We know there is a force greater than ourselves. That goes without saying but religion is a construct created by the few to control the many. The Hebrew Bible aka the Tanakh was written by God’s chosen people. The New Testament was written by Greeks who would have been seen as gentiles. Notice that in the New Testament there is a change in attitude regarding gentiles. NOT TO MENTION THE APOSTLES ARE GREEK. Find me Mark, Paul, Peter, John, or Matthew in the Middle East prior to the fall of Israel to Greeks then the Romans. As a degreed historian, Niece of a Pastor, daughter of a Muslim, and teacher of History and world Geography we must learn to research and study to show ourselves approved to debate religious theory. Repeating concepts and stories you’ve been told is not studying. It is imperative that we study history in addition to reading the Bible. This is so One can learn to put things in perspective and gain insight as as a result of studying and validating or invalidating belief and practices.
King James unified the Scottish and English crowns. At this time England had been at odds with the Catholic Church because his Uncle Henry VIII changed the religion of a nation bc he wanted a divorce which the Pope wouldn’t grant bc his first wife Catherine was the cousin of the Holy Roman Emperor. Not to mention this is the same King that allowed for and signed off on the capture of women, men and children of color from Africa and other the lands the slave Master doesn’t mention in their history books to be brought to America as slaves. Remember Jamestown is named after him. Ask yourself what God fearing man would knowing sentence millions of people to death and servitude. That should let u know there was motive behind translating the Bible.
If u only read KJV Bible, a translation that influenced by English thinking, culture and beliefs u limit what u know. Plus people from England(Angles and Saxons) are from the Scandinavian peninsula. One could surmise they had no background, nor education. To attempt to translate a book written in Hebrew and Aramaic by British scholars is laughable at best. How man Hebrews or Arabs had they encountered for that matter.
basing a position off one source has never been a demonstration of research or intelligence. When u research all of us have been taught to use multiple sources.

            REALLY IMPORTANT POINT
The Israelites were given God’s word not Greeks hundred’s of years later. Another thing why would an Arabic man have a Spanish name. Yeshu’a would more likely translate to Joshua not Jesus. think back to which European nation spread Christianity to the new world first. It was Spain.
            MOST IMPORTANT POINT
Last but not least the people living in Israel are not the descendants of the tribe of Judah. They are Edomites aka Turks specifically Khazars. The King OF Khazaria was shopping religions and the Samaritans who live in northern Israel which was after the country split into 2 kingdoms after Solomon’s death, convinced the king of khazaria To choose to practice their religion. This where the term Jew was born. The chosen people of the most high are Israelites not Jews. The term Jew is purposely misleading. It wasn’t even the tribe of Judah that convinced the King to begin practicing Judaism, a term that neither Abraham nor Jacob nor Saul or David or Solomom used to reference themselves. The word “Jew” did not come into existence until the year 1775 A.D., whereas the occurrences in the bible took place from around 4000 B.C. to 70 A.D.The Greeks even told us in the book of Revelation chapt 3 verse 9 that they are frauds. Hitler told the world also but was killed after he said the black people in America are the real Jews. The west practiced appeasement until he attempted to delegitimization Jews their and their false claim regarding the holy land. Nasser, the Egyptian President even states that the Jews left black and came back white and as a result Israel invaded Egypt under guise of protecting French and British owned Suez canal for it. The Jews who reside in Israel do so at the convenience of the west. The stole Canaanite aka Phoenician aka Palestinian land to place a nuclearized nation in the middle under the guise of it being their promise land. We have been misled, ran a muck, and bamboozled.

Study Egyptian History, the Holy Trinity is a construct they devised which originally meant:the the father, the mother, and child. The Son of God(Horus and Egyptian deity whose father was Osiris and mother was Isis) is their concept. also they meant So if God as the Sun of God. They worshipped the sun because they understood that people of color had a direct connection to the Sun. Read about Horus, Whose life Jesus was modeled after. this Egyptian History took place way before Christianity was even thought of. All u have to do is study history and everything will start to make sense and U will be able to decipher/use discernment to distinguish fact from fiction.

          • TO CLEAR THINGS UP EVERYONE WHO COMES ON THIS PAGE: Every single one of us seems to be some how similar or varied on this topic, and why because we weren’t alive when this took place. I’m not going to take sides on either one for the people who are looking for a difference on how they work. I believe learning is something we should all be able to learn and understand so we can better help ourselves.
I was raised as a catholic attending their private school, and then I got saved though a Baptist, who are exactly like Christians but they were around before the catholic religion they weren’t a spin off like Christians. Do the history 🙂
Catholic Church and Bible- First off the obvious the catholic bible has more books. Some phrases are worded differently but generally have the same meaning. The other books that the KJV bible doesn’t have, have different disciplines added to the lessons. As for the church, I’m not sure about other catholic churches but the one I attended most of people who attend don’t read there bible, (please Catholics don’t be offended if you do, but I know the majority of you don’t unless you take the bible class.) The whole ordeal with Mary, and the saints. Let make one thing clear I grew up as one, they aren’t that is (are not) worshiping them like cow idol, or at least that’s not the intention, they believe that they (Mary and Saints) should be honored and that they help you grow closer to God. The church is traditional and strict on rules and policies.
Baptist/Christians church and bible- Less books, people tend to read there bible more because it is used during services. They go through most all sections of the bible. They tend to connect bible verses together that have similar meaning. They aren’t as strict, but (I’m not sure about yours) but mine is VERY supportive on your growth in Christ(or walk as they call it). I’m new to this so my facts aren’t the best. I’ll have to update as I grow.

BUT PEOPLE: This isn’t about religion I would just like to point that out. This is about growing with god and going home to heaven. For those of you who are confused and searching for an answer or answers, I understand me to. Just a bit of advice though, find a church that fits what you think is JUST. To me that was a place were the people actually cared about you. When you went there for the first time you didn’t feel awkward because everyone welcomed you. You felt like it was home. When you didn’t come to church they would call you or visit your home to make sure you were okay. They were willing to do anything to help you get to heaven and help you understand your bible, and that folks is were I go to church. thank you god for that blessing. And like Jesus who said “Come as you are.” I don’t care what you are, I just want to see you in heaven with me 😉
Lastly for all those saying the bible is just some fairy-tale story, I am saddened for you, because you are the one who is blind even the Jesus says Joh_3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. GOOD LUCK EVEYONE

          • First off Mary and the quote saints you speak of are dead or as God says asleep. The Holy Spirit is the only
Way we draw closer to God by being taught by the spirit praying in the spirit . First you must receive the Gift of salvation then making Jesus your lord and savior . No where in scripture
Does it say anything about praying to saints or Mary or reciting a rosary it does say don’t pray vain repititious prayers and don’t follow rules and traditions of men

          • You are so very wrong wemail as catholics do not pray to saints that is one of the biggest misunderstandings about our religion

          • Amazing Well put!!!✝️✝️✝️❤️❤️❤️

          • Mae,

I enjoyed reading your comments, as I could truly feel your zest for community in spirit, church, growing faith and a an open beart and mind… But I must admit, I’m quite confused by a few things you mentioned…
You said you were raised Catholic, “went to their school”, but then later you were “saved by a Baptist”? And that Baptists are just like Christians?
Here lies my confusion and subsequent questions: If you were raised Catholic, I’m assuming you were most definitely baptized in the Catholic Church, as any Catholic knows, babies are baptized shortly after birth, then in first or second grade children receive their first Holy Communion, and then become confirmed through RCIA in their teen years, accepting Catholicism and its teachings as their path for life in Christ. May I ask WHY you would need to be saved by a Baptist, if you were indeed raised Catholic, as you stated? What could a Baptist offer you in the” saving department that Baptism, receiving of the Holy Sacraments and Confirmation of Faith as an adult, COULD NOT?
I hope you have learned since writing your comments that there is a difference between the word religion and the denominations of religions. You seem to be confused about denominations of Christianiity. The Baptist Church is a denomination of Christianity. So is the Episcopal Church, Presbyterian, Lutheran, ETC. This is a common thing I read or hear about from others quite often. Especially with Evangelical Christians, who believe Earth is only 7000 years old and use the term “Christian” in such a way that I truly think they believe that Christianity began in the United States.
I do my best to try to educate myself on topics I do not understand. Evangelical Christianity is one of those topics that still baffles me, but I remain open to others paths and beliefs. Just like I truly appreciate those that don’t judge me for my own beliefs regarding Christianity.
I was not aware that the Baptist church preceded the Roman Catholic church.
I am a scientist.I am a Catholic, too. But I am human, first and foremost. I make mistakes and have opinions. But I am always striving to learn more from others I may not agree with.

          • The catholc church is un biblical most catholics dont know because they dont read the Bible.
Jesus is the way not the pope or the AntiChrist unbiblical catholic church.

          • That is not true we read it and we go through the whole bible in church through a three year period. Maybe you should check into it more before you say something and on top of that our whole mass is based on the Bible.

          • James i suggest you read christian history before making a comment that has no sense. Sounds like you have heard this about catholics but never really took the time yourself to read the full history of christianity.
Catholic religion has been on this earth for 2017 years. Protestanism only 500 years and 30000 denominations.Every protestant has copied parts of catholicism throughout the years such as the trinity, communion,
And yes the holy bible. Catholic priest wrote it.Our masses or church service has an hour of the bible and psalms everyday from beginning to the end. We dont memorize verses we say them and pray them. Protestants memeorize them. No point as far as im concerned.
I can go on and on but please do the research yourself. Dont let others influence you.

          • Are you a born again? Cause born agains give other Christians a bad name.

          • Appreciated your thought process and explanations, excellent, thank you

          • Hi Laura!

One Lord, one faith; one baptism (search blueletterbible.org, i.e.

One God: Jesus (not a property noun, yet a title)
One faith: no denominations: there is only one God to follow (shall we [people] boast of salvation bring of us no, God forbid – Here is a jealous God! (See these words at blb.org as well).
One baptism: John baptised Jesus to reveal the Son of God… Thereafter the baptism is by the Holy Spirit (for believers); fire (non-believers)!

God (Spirit), manifested Himself in flesh (we are made in his image man; woman from man), i.e., Jesus, Jehovah, El… All the titles became flesh (one) and dwelt among us! Whomever believes on this and confesses the same, continually, will have eternal life! It’s a predestined Determination; we’re already chosen… Now is manifestation. All things were created in those 6 days; the 7th day was the beginning of forever… Life is perpetual (here first then eternal life OR eternal damnation).

            Hope this helps!

            Jesus is Lord
            Romans 10:9-11

          • OF WHAT RELIGION DID GOD SAY HE IS? ,,,,,,,OF WHAT RELIGION DID JESUS SAY HE IS WHEN HE LIVED ON THIS EARTH. WHAT WAS THE NAME OF THEIR RELIGION. THE BIBLE IS A HISTORY BOOK OF THE CONSEQUENCES THAT HAPPENED TO PEOPLE THAT DISOBED GOD. ITS A BOOK OF COMMANDMENTS AND CONSEQUENCES WHEN YOU DO NOT DO WHAT IS BEST FOR YOU. BELIEVE IT OR NOT,,,FOR ONE DAY YOU WILL STAND BEFORE GOD. ARE YOU READY TO MEET YOUR MAKER,,,GOD.

          • I, too, was born again through the Baptist church. I was born and raised Catholic but am now a truly born again Christian. Read Mark 16:16 in kjv: He that beliefeth and is baptized shall be saved but he that beliefeth not shall be damned. Infant baptism has never been valid. Belief comes FIRST and the RCC changed ‘damned’ to ‘condemned’ and so not the same! Please, I emplore you to get to your local independent Baptist church and chat with the pastor. All are regerated christians!! So much more to learn!! God bless you all!!

          • Read Acts 2:37-47. The household, one could assume, included infants, toddlers, teenagers, adults. They were baptized and were added to the number of believers as the Apostles did what Jesus told them, ” to go out to all the nations and baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:18-19)

          • Please tell me which bible to read. I also was raised in catholic schools. Baptized.communion and confirmed. I like your thought process. I just would love to read the bible. Just confused on which one to purchase. Please asvise. God bless you!

          • Talk to your priest or go to a Bible study at your Catholic church. They will guide you in the right path.

          • Try The Authorized King James
            Amen

The Holy Spirit leads me to say…Calling Calling Calling Christ Jesus..
            Amen

          • History of the Catholic faith started when Jesus handed the the keys to St Peter and made him the first pope of his church.one church not churches.
All churches were catholic until the 1500s. If you study history you will find this. The Catholic church still stsnd 2017 years later because Jesus promised that ir would never get defeated. Over 1 billion followers.
Baptist church congregation in the United States, founded by Roger Williams in Providence, Rhode Island in 1638. The present church building was erected in 1774–75 and held its first meetings in May 1775.
Man made and followers of the crazy heretic Martin Luther. I suggest you read
The history of the churches before you let some false pastor give you lies.
I pray you come back to the one true church.

          • You’re an idiot!!! You make absolutely no sense. Certainly all you have is a bunch of unsubstantiated oral fecal spew. I suppose your RNA and DNA is nothing more than a whacked out code Republican National Association and Democratic National Alliance. Or perhaps its your chemical compound for creating the drugs you’re on. Let’s just say the best part of you ran down your momma’s leg after your daddy retracted.

          • @ Brian and @ Chuck:
Please explain me what energy IS?

          • You’re kidding right? Ok. You believe yourself. But where did these molecules come from? Got an answer for that? All right. Where did that come from? Something can’t come from nothing. They just don’t ‘pop’ up one day and make everything you see in this world and beyond. Me, I believe God created it all.
“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.”
            I’m confident of it.
But don’t down me just yet. Wait until the world ends and then we can see who was right. I think that’s fair.

          • The fool says in his heart, “There is no God!”

          • First off your idea of how life began is completely inaccurate. The big bang produced the first element. That element was hydrogen (Evolution, your theory not mine). From hydrogen you can only fuse to iron. How do you suppose the rest of the elements came to be. So the stars are the engines for all elements. So now we have a chicken and the egg problem. What say you? Lastly we did not evolve from a bowl of soup. There is no proof whatsoever that we came from non life. Life cannot under any circumstance come from non life. If what your saying is true then it would have been replicated in a lab. It has never been replicated. Its the atheists weak attempt to refute God. Lastly while the atheists were pondering and even celebrating the discovery that the earth was round all they found after hundreds of years of debate was the fact that in Isiah 40:22: the Bible says,”He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth.” So for many years the Bible was right and atheists were wrong. BTW there is clear evidence of a massive uniform flood exactly when the bible said it happened.

          • The “Big Bang”: He said, “Let there be and it was so”… BANG!

            JESUS IS LORD!
            ROMANS 10:9-22

          • Just for clarification, “pure water” is not a very good conductor. In fact pure water is a very good conductor. The electrolytes, I.e. Sodium and by extension sodium chloride, however, are decent conductors. Re-examine thine periodic table before thee speaketh on the divine word.

          • Sorry, I meant pure water is an excellent insulator.

          • Brian you are like a ranting idiotic lunatic professor

          • Big bang = big stupid. Plus it has nothing to do with the topic of this page, i.e. the difference between the KJV and Douay/NABRE. So shut the hell up, you simpleton.

          • There is more to that… Jesus is creator, same God from old testament… Not knowing the truth, doesn’t make one right to speak what ever comes to mind… God created man, and all things geared towards is…

          • KJV:
            John 1:1-3
In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was god.
            2. He was in the beginning with God.
            3. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

            Genesis 1:1
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

One idea that I have gotten from every religion or belief is that there is a supreme being that exist or should I say idea.
Man does not have all the answers to what has been created or designed. And when they find something , they claim that they discovered it, not knowing that it had been or is being created.
We all want to take credit for what was, is, and to come.
In the End, you will be answered And what a surprise it is going to be. May God bless you and keep you.

          • If its that easy then do it yourself.

          • You are a complete fool. For you to speak as if you have the ultimate answer above all who have studied the Word of God and it’s history. Science is not denied and above all Christ is not and should not be denied.

          • You’re crazy!

          • That’s why people who had NDE and I mean atheist were turned into hell pit. As we say ‘of good intentions is hell full of’… But I guess this does not going to change your mind because you are a very rational person and what cannot be proven scientifically is not true. Well if you do some recearch you will find the true, and the truth will set you free. Jesus’s words. Don’t tell me you don’t believe in Jesus either, well why? He divided the ages didn’t he? Or was it men of science who did it. Although they got it wrong because Today is proved that Jesus was born in the year 6 AD. Many people died on the fires of Catholic Inquisition for translating the Bible and many Christians die beheaded on the Middle east. I am loosing my time answering to you because I would like you to acknowledge that heaven is real, Jesus, God YHWH are real too. Just do some research and you will find it. Don’t think I always believe I had my doubts also long time ago. Another thing, what do you think about the theory of the earth and being flat? It’s difficult for me to accept it but I can give some thought about it. Is it possible? Can it be proven scientifically?

          • I Pray for Your Soul Brian and enlightening from Jesus Christ, 6yrs since you wrote this…I Pray you now have come to know Our Heavenly Father, Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and Our Spiritual Protector the Holy Spirit…The Trinity!

          • Exactly,
Dark complexion aka melanin aka carbon directly connects us to the sun hence the universe. Religion is meant to confuse and distract. Human nature is instinctively good. It is our interactions and the things we are taught that corrupt us.

          • Nicely put. I could not agree with you more.

        • @Brian:

Are you aware that astronomy proves Creation? Go to Jason Lisle’s account on YouTube, he is an astronomer who has a three-part lecture on this specific topic there.

          @Chuck

Remember what the Lord Jesus said: bless and pray for those who insult and spitefully abuse you. Do not curse them.

          @RD

It is actually the Second Commandment, which forbids the making of and praying to images, that was taken out and then the Tenth Commandment was split into two.

          • Why does any of this matter so much? If everyone lived by the golden rule the world would be a better place. Just this one conversation has everyone arguing and calling each other idiots for what they believe in. It never stops, anger, aggression, killing, occupying, this is what organized religion has given the world.
Kindness people, every thing comes down to that basic behavior, kindness. Stop the hatred, stop taking advantage of the innocent and helpless, take care of the environment around you, protect all animals from any harm, keep peace in your corner of the world. Live by the golden rule. It really is that simple.

          • Read about the Vatican during the WWII and how they were involved with Hitler and the consentration camps. Read about the three cities controlling the world. God is so not with the Catholic Church and all THEIR sins. They controlled their parishioners with excommunication and praying to false profits
instead of teaching the TEN Commandments which were sent by God to Moses.

          • Read your history!!!! It was Pipe Pius XXII who actually tried to get RID of Hitler and the NAZIS!!!! The ONE TRUE HOLY CATHOLIC CHURCH helped Jews and others escape from Germany and other countries occupied by the NAZIs by providing fake papers, money, and by adopting orphaned children!!!! AGAIN READ YOUR HISTORY!!!! But then again so much about our Chruch and Religion has been twisted by liberals and the anti-Catholic media and left that no one actually knows this. For more information try reading a book called “Church of Spies” or for that matter any book about Pope Pius XXII!!!!

          • I’ve read differently.. He was on it with Hitler from what I’ve read on the book.. The woman that rides the beast

          • Dear, Michael
There is a book called the Pianist, it depicts the life of a musician during the occupation of Poland by Germany. In the book there is a final character that helps the musician survive. Reading the background of the final character fortified my Faith. I recommend this book if you ever have time.
Catholics did not agree with Hitler’s ideology.

          • They have corrupted our minds and spirits with the hate that is generated as a result of religion.

        • So? King James was Scottish and Protestant. That does not make the Bible any less the Word of God.

          • I was disappointed by the level of both the original article and the debate in the comments. I would have expected a focus in both on the quality of the translation(s) and the differences in the outcome and the consequent differences in interpretation.

The descent into name-calling and partisanship in the comments is entirely inappropriate, especially as the truth or otherwise of the original is an entirely separate topic. Whether one regards the Bible as divinely inspired or as a collection of myths is not really relevant to the question at all except in so far as the inconsistencies that might lead one to question the validity of the Bible might have arisen as translation errors.

    • Yeah..that final remark confused me even more confused..:(

    • this article is a joke. it is painfully obvious that whoever wrote it holds an extreme bias towards england, Protestants and the King James Bible.
catholics are taught to highly distrust the King James and it would seem this article reflects that type of unthinking distrust.
when a priest or pastor says something its up to those that spend their time listening to him to check them out.
priests and pastors can be idiots like the rest of us.
dont believe propaganda that any system puts out, do some reaserch and compare the two as well as taking a serious look into the political and social events of history that may have influenced each…..before forming a conclusion.
the person that wrote this is way way off the mark.

      • At the time it was written there was a long going feud between the Irish Catholics and England. ANYTHING out of England was suspect and the bible was no exception. Hard to preach love and peace and then exploit the Irish from the late 1100’s and yet still occupy Celt soil. No wondering why there.

    • The author wrote about diffrence between Holy Bible and Catholic bible but in what he wrote i did not see the diffrence he points out.If diffrent in translation ,he surpose to give us examples from so call holy bible and Catholic bible to back is words.

    • KJV was the completed and wholed truth translation.

    • The current KJV bible contains only 66 books, while the Catholic bibles contain 73. This is a SIGNIFICANT difference which the writer appears to have overlooked.

As part of the Protestant Reformation, 7 books were eliminated supposedly because these 7 books (deemed “apocryphal”) were removed in the Jewish Council of Jamnia in 90 AD (which has never been fully verified): Judith, Wisdom, Sirach, Baruch, 1 & 2 Maccabees, Esther 10:4-16-16:24 and Daniel 3:24-90 and 13:1-14:42

“Coincidentally,” by deleting these books and sections, several Catholic teachings (including the existence of Purgatory / state of purgation) were negated by the Protestants.

Interestingly, the original KJV (not the one we see used today) had 80 books.

      • You can still find some KJVs with the Apocrypha, but its hard. It is much easier, however, to find the KJV Apocrypha on its own. You can get it in a thin red hardcover on amazon for like $12 and they usually have a copy at Barnes and Noble brick and mortar stores. Also, if you buy Sir Lancelot Brenton’s LXX Septuagint, it includes the Greek of the Septuagint with his translation into English, where his translation of the Apocrypha is simply the KJV Apocrypha except for in the books only accepted by Greek Orthodox (3rd and 4th Macabees, Psalm 151) which he had to translate himself since the KJV didn’t include them.

      • There is no purgatory it’s a notion made up by Catholics to think we can buy our way in heaven . The Roman Catholic Church has no authority
According to God Himself. They made up the religion to capitalize
        Monetarily

      • Kjv 1611 has the apocryfa books

    • It is without saying that people religious or nonreligious will say various vers of the bible have ‘errors’

The question is not whether they have errors but rather in what perspective they are translated towards.

The King James Vers compared to certain versions has intended translation.

Translations of Bible texts go down between whether they are literal word by word translations or whether they are intended meaning translations.

      Some are hybrids of both.

      • Amen. All you commenting have a passion to defend Christ! Makes no difference how you got there you believe in the Lord.
we should all put petty differences to the side and focus on the non believer. Let’s save him together! With all the knowledge out there come up with a verse or loving thought to help him find comfort in. To have him doubt the boom factor. He is reaching out and you’re all blowing it.

    • NO – the King James Bible is not “just another version”. That is what satan wants us to believe – the King James Bible is the God of the Bible’s preserved Written Word – it is THE Word – the ORIGINAL – it is NOT a “version”.
      .
These facts are backed up by the Rcc’s own teachings – as well, you can view these photos for yourself. Most normal God fearing persons know full well that anyone who engages in such things are not – nor from – the God of the Living Bible. http://ivarfjeld.com/category/vatican-skulls-and-bones/ .
      .

…The Rcc teaches their followers to confess their sins to their priests or pope for forgiveness. Yet, the God of the Bible says Jesus Christ is the only one who can forgive our sins..
      .
…The Rcc collects bones, flesh, organs, blood and complete skeletons – I’ve read that the Rcc is the largest ‘bone collector” on the planet. They refer to these body parts as “relics” – but they are what they are – dead bones, flesh, blood and organs. They claim to have the head of John the Baptist – as well as the foreskin of Jesus Christ (???) – – -Yet, the God of the Bible says to have nothing to do with the dead – His Word even refers to it as “necromancy” – and besides – collecting, storing and using the blood, organs and bones of dead men – for “adoration” or “veneration” or any other ceremonial purpose is – well, occult.
Below are links where you can see the photos for yourself – – –

…The Rcc claims that their pope is the ‘vicar of Christ’ – which means “Christ on Earth until Christ returns”.Yet, the God of the Bible says Jesus Christ is the only Christ – on this Earth and in all places – forever. – – Added note: God’s Word also says that the end time antichrist will set up shop in a place where he ought not to be – and claim to be Christ on Earth.
      .
…The Rcc conducts (practices) “mass” – which is where they take a wafer/cracker – the priest says a paragraph – which has to be said accurately, no mistakes – if they make a mistake, the priest has to start the ‘paragraph’ back over and say it again – til he says it perfectly – if they say it perfect, then they (Rcc) believe that they command (demand) Jesus to come down from Heaven – and enter the wafer/cracker – and then they eat the cracker/wafer – which they believe they are truly eating Christ’s body. Yet, the God of the Bible says Jesus died ONCE on the Cross – after that it IS finished. Jesus also doesn’t “comply” with any human man or woman.Other groups who repeat chants – and have to repeat it perfect with no mistakes – are witches and other pagan religions – only they call them spells and incantations. The God of the Bible warns us not to engage in witchcraft – sorcery or any other “familiar spirits”.
      .
…The Rcc forbids their priest (after they receive their “order”) and pope from marrying. Yet, the God of the Bible says it is better to marry than burn in lust….The Rcc teaches their followers to use rosary bead to count their prayers – to repeat the same prayer over and over and over and over……. Yet, the God of the Bible says not to engage in repetitive prayer – and rosary beads would also fall under “idolatry”..
      .
…The Rcc’s pope proclaims to be a “holy Father” – Yet, the God of the Bible says to call no man on Earth “Father” – “Rabbi” – nor “Master” – for we have but one Father in Heaven..
      .
…The Rcc claims mary is a virgin – and have deified her as their “goddess” and “saviour” – they claim she is their “intercessor” – there are countless photos of Rcc followers, as well as the pope himself kneeling and kissing the feet of Mary statues.
The God of the Bible says that Jesus Christ is the way,the truth and the life – no man cometh to Him except through Jesus Christ.
The God of the Bible says that Mary was in need of a Jesus, her Saviour – and that she had other children besides Jesus.
The God of the Bible gives us God’s Second Commandment – which forbids the bowing down to and worshiping images and statues. The Rcc’s “version” of God’s Ten Commandments has His 20 Commandment removed – completely. Then they’ve moved all of the other commandments down one slot – then split God’s 10th Commandment into two separate commandments – so that it “appears” to be God’s original Ten Commandments …. It is not.
      .
The Rcc teaches that their pope is infallible.
Yet, the God of the Bible says we are ALL with sin – and NONE of us are perfect or without sin. The only human being who walked this Earth was Jesus Christ.
      .
The Rcc teaches that God handed His Written Word – and all earthly authority over to the “church/pope” – – That is pure lunacy.
      .
The Rcc pope gives himself the title of “vicar of christ” – which means “christ on earth” – – – That is pure blasphemy. The God of the Bible doesn’t say one single word about Jesus Christ giving any earthly human being authority over Him – His Written Word nor His church.

      .
The Rcc claims that Peter is the “Rock” – yet, the God of the Bible’s Written Word tells us:
      .
1 Corinthians 10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
      .
Deuteronomy 32 I will proclaim the name of the Lord. Oh, praise the greatness of our God! 4 He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he..
      .
Ephesians 2 20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; 21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit..
      .
Colossians 1 15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy..
      .
2 Peter 1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: 2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord.
      .
Acts 10:25 25 And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him. 26 But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

      .
…The Rcc teaches its followers that Mary is their “intercessor” – that they have to go through Mary for her to communicate to God – on their behalf. Yet the God of the Bible tells us that we can communicate with Jesus any time we want or need to. The God of the Bible tells us that there is only one person we need to call on – by name – and that is the name of Jesus Christ – no one, the Bible tells us, comes to the Father except by Him. Period. Mary is dead in the grave – awaiting judgement just like the rest of us secular sinful human beings.
      .
…The Rcc re-assigns their (many) pedophile priests to other cities – instead of rebuking them and putting them out of the “church”. Yet, the God of the Bible says that it will be better for one to have a millstone around his neck and tossed in the sea – than for one of His children to be harmed. Period..
      .
…The Rcc sells “indulgences” – which is when a person dies the Rcc tells the family that in order to get their loved one out of “purgatory” they have to pay – per limb – to get their loved one’s entire body out of “purgatory” and in to Heaven. Yet, the God of the Bible’s Word does not mention one word about any such place called “purgatory” – and selling dead body parts that are in the grave? No true follower of the God of the Bible engages in that kind of stuff..
      .

      • I’m not catholic, but your information is so incorrect. You sound like your repeating what your protestant minister told you. Kind of like what Fox news does with a sound bite. You should take your claims and check them for accuracy before spewing hate.

        • The very fact that you referred to Christians as ‘protestants’ sort of negates your claim that you aren’t catholic.
          .
Christians -true followers of Christ – do not refer to themselves as ‘protestants’.
          .
The Rcc referred to Christians as “protestants” back when they were slaughtering them – beheading them – and burning them at the stake – for their belief in Jesus Christ.
          .

          • You mean like Henry the viii who slaughtered the clergy and those who believed in the old religion. A clergy that he himself received the sacraments from. Tens of thousands he murdered, burning the Churches, abbeys, and monasteries, only to claim he was the head of the Church. These were the actions of a monster, and men of Pride trying to reduce the Church to a mere puppet show for his own amusement.

        • When you can’t destroy the message – try discrediting the messenger, huh.
          .
What I wrote was not hate – it was – and is – facts – cold hard facts – which I understand that the Rcc (satan) doesn’t like dealing in facts – especially those that uncover his dark and vile agendas.
          .
You sound like a typical liberal – when you can’t argue with the actual message at hand – you go after the person who wrote or said it.
          .
It’s okay though – Jesus Christ will return soon – and you can explain to Him why you chose to follow an antichrist instead of Him and His Written Word.

      • well said ,Julita

      • You really need to check your facts!!!!!!!!! We as Catholics DO NOT AND I REPEAT DO NOT WORSHIP MARY OR THE SAINTS WE VENARATE THEM!!!! Also Jesus said to Peter in the Bible after asking him THREE COUNT THEM THREE (3) TIMES IF HE LIVED HIM. THEN HE SAID “YOUR NAME IS PETER (MEENING ROCK) AND UPON THIS ROCK I SHALL BUILD MY CHURCH AND THE GATES OF HELL SHALL NOT PREVAIL AGAINST IT. Juesus also told all the Apostles and Peter in particular “WHATEVER YOU SHALL BIND ON EARTH IT SHALL BE BOUND IN HEAVEN, BUT WHATEVER YOU SHALL LOOSE ON EARTH SHALL BE LOOSED IN HEAVEN”. Hence the Sacrament of Penance/Recocillation. That’s also mentioned in the Acts of The Apostles. It also talks of Mary’s Assention into Heaven BOTH BODY AND SOUL. Remember when they went to anoint Her body there was only LILLIES AND NO BODY IN THE TOMB!!!! It is also mentioned of her IMMACULATE COCEPTION AND THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION OF JESUS CHRIST!!!! REMEMBER MARYS COUSIN ELIZABETH THE MOTHER OF JOHN THE BAPTIST SAID WHEN MARY VISITED HER ” HOW COMES IT THAT THE MOTHER OF MY LORD AND MY GOD HAS COME INTO MY HOUSE? FOR WHEN I HEARD YOUR VOICE THE BABY LEPT WITHIN MY WOMB” REFERING TO JOHN THE BAPTIST!!!! WHAT ABOUT WHEN JESUS WAS BAOTIZED IN THE RIVER JORDAN BY JOHN “A CLOUD CAME OVER THE AREA AND A DOVE DECENDED UPON JESUS AND IT WAS HEARD “THIS IS MY SON. OF WHOM I AM WELL PLEASED. LISTEN YOU TO AND FOLLOW HIM”. JESUS JAD NO SIBILINGS!!!! MARY WAS BORN AND DIED A VIRGIN!!!! JESUS HAD COYSINS YES BUT NO SIBILINGS!!!! “HOW COMES THIS BY ME FOR I KNOW NOT MAN? FEAR NOT MARY FOR THOU HAST GOUND FAVOUR WITH GOD. THE POWER OF GOD SHALL OVERSHADOW YOU AND YOU SHALL CONCEIVE A SON AND HIS MAME SHALL BE JESUS.” RING ANY BELLS? IT SHOULD BECAUSE THAT’S WHAT THE ANGEL GABRIEL SAID TO MARY WHEN HE TOLD HER SHE WOULD BE THE MOTHER OF OUR LIRD AND GOD JESUS CHRIST!!!!

        • Finally, someone who actually did their homework. ” The Church is the pillar of Truth and of Understanding”. St. Paul tells our that.

      • During His teachings, Christ preached ” unless you eat my body, and drink my blood, you have no life in you” …many followers were horrified, and left Him….So, at the Last Supper, Christ took bread and said ” Take this and eat of it, this is my body, then He took the wine and said, drink of this, which is my blood,DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME”!! So, when you mistakenly, ridicule the priests when they follow Christ’s teachings to do this in memory of me, maybe you could ponder also, on His preaching “unless you eat my body and drink my blood, you have no life in you” We Catholics take His Words very seriously,,, ponder on That…..

      • U are the God u seek.

    • I think this sight is also confusing, I only wanted to know if the catholic doctorine teaches John 3:16 and Luke 24:5,6

    • No – the King James is not a “version”.
      .
The God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob authored ONE Holy Scripture – just one. And He commands us to obey that ONE Written Word. He also warns us not to add to – nor take from – His ONE Holy Written Word.
      .
Then mankind came along – yep, mankind includes the Rcc – and they decided to start adding to and taking from His Written Word. Then over the centuries, other generations began to write their own “versions”. And now we have over 300 DIFFERENT “versions” on the planet. Which is why we are now sitting here debating on “which version do we read from”.
      .
The King James AUTHORIZED 1611 is the only book on planet Earth that holds no copyright – never has – never will. The Rcc’s “version” – the NIV – the ESV – and all of the rest of these man written “versions” DO carry a copyright – i.e. they make $$$ off off their “versions”. – – In His Written Word, God promises us that He will preserve His Written Word for all generations.
      .
The Rcc – back in the Dark Ages/Inquisition – tried their best to destroy God’s Written Word – they tortured, slaughtered, beheaded and burned at the stake any one found to own the Holy Word – and/or read from it. Of course they failed because they were battling against the One True Living God – but that has never stopped them – after that, the started writing their own “version” – slowly over the centuries replacing God’s Word – with their own “version”. And now here in 2017, they (and their followers) try their hardest to convince the world that God’s Written Word belongs to them – that they (Rcc) gave the world the Bible.
      .
lol I have to laugh – but then I also sort of feel sorry for the Rcc and its followers – because hell hath no fury when you cross the One Living God – and His Written Word.
      .
Catholics need to – as God’s Written Word says – COME OUT OF HER lest you partake in her many plagues that are coming.
      .
      .

      • The crown actually holds the copyright to that version. The book tells us to study to show ourselves approved. It is disingenuous to put inaccurate info out in the universe especially since we living in the age of Revelation(Information Age) there is no excuse for misinforming others. That is what a false prophet does and according to scripture the false prophet along with the beast will die the 2nd death in the lake of fire. I assume this means no reincarnation for u.

      • You sound like a born again , don’t get sucked in by those people , they are the biggest pains and are so self opinionated.

  2. Actually, the KJV translators had EXTENSIVE Hebrew knowledge. Many of them had studied it since they were children. To say that the KJV has weaknesses due to lack of translator knowledge of the original languages is a very uneducated statement.

    • I prefer the New Revised Standard Version for daily scripture reading. Although, I still keep my KJV right on the shelf next to my NRSV for comparison and reference.

      • kjv is not just a translation, it is the inspired word of God PRESERVED in the english language

      • KJV is protestant whilst Catholic bible has imprimatur written in. Steve Ray was born and raised Baptist but converted to Catholicism the true christian faith.

        • An imprimatur doesn’t actually mean anything, especially since Vatican II. The NABRE (the official RCC Bible in the U.S.) is one of the worst translations ever made, if not the absolute worst. Its probably even worse than the NWT of the Watchtower!!!! It really is THAT bad.

        • A Christian is Christ like. He is a Sabbath keeper and kept His Fathers feast with the apostles. He did not do away with the commandments but magnified them.
So if you do not follow the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob, Christ or apostles in what they did then guess what you are not a True christain. Nobody took anything away except the physical sacrifices because Christ the sacrificial lamb came with a new covenant which is spiritual. No man can come to Christ unless the Father draws him. We do not just go to a church we are called into “truth” followers of Christ. Protestants are protesters of the Catholic church, which means universal. You need history along side of the Bible to know the truth and when it was changed, by man.

  3. So is there a difference between the Catholic Bible vs. the NKJV Holy Bible? I just want to get on the right path to learning about God and his bible.

    • Suzanne,
Despite almost everything I’ve ever heard or read, the King James Version (not the new) has really stood the test of time and really does follow the Hebrew and Greek translations, better than most other versions that I’ve seen.

Sadly where most of the confusion seems to come in is when most people say, “it’s too hard to understand, so I go to other translations instead”, but IF YOU PRAY FOR GUIDANCE “BEFORE” you start reading, and ASK THE HOLY SPIRIT FOR ‘CLARITY AND UNDERSTANDING’ with what you’re about to read from the Word, He Will open your understanding in ways that you can not imagine.

I truly believe that there are books added to the Catholic Bible that would lead to much confusion, if you don’t weigh them by what the Lord has called us to do. In the mean while, you can do a comparsion for yourself, but ALWAYS PRAY FIRST for guidance, then let the HOLY SPIRIT SHOW you where the spirit of ‘error’ comes in so that you will know later on what to stay away from (the Hebrew texts are an excellent bench mark here, find a Messianic Rabbi who’d be willing to walk you through the scriptures and you’ll get even more ‘clarity’ as well).

Hope I was able to help you in some small way.

P.S. Wayne H you’re absolutely correct, pat they were most likely left out because of the ‘confusion’ that they may have caused the reader. Cory, if you believe in Jesus Christ (Yeshua Hamashiach in Hebrew), then ask the Holy Spirit to ‘lead you’ where to start first, in order to help you and your girl friend. bob, you’re right but we must continue to pray for EVERYONE to come to the love and knowledge of God and Jesus Christ. Saul, God/Jesus Christ ARE NOT A DENOMINATION this started with true God following, Christ saving ‘Judasim’ “first”. cory, jk ‘paganism’ because they don’t adhere to ALL of the doctrines listed in the Bible (still searching for verses about venerating Mary, using prayer beads, etc.). Thanks NoeaH and Chris. To one and ALL, whatever you do do ALL to the Glory of God, and seek the help and leading of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit for clearer understanding of ‘their’ Word (John 14:21 & 23). Take care and God bless.

  4. Think this is a Catholic based website. If you look at the history of the Catholic religion, it is based on paganism, so of course this site will say that the KJV is not all inspired by God and even based on Catholicism, which is a cult.

    • I’m a catholic high schooler and I have studied church history and all the many things the church as done since the last supper onward. I’m curious to why you believe the Catholic Church is a cult!

      • @cj, likewise I’m curious as to why you have the impression that Catholicism is based on paganism.

        • Just pick up an authorised KJ version and the new versions and compare and i can assure you that if you know english( even if just a little) the bibles are very different.unless ofcourse English has lost meaning or the dictionary definitions are wrong. And from the much i know about satan(the most subtil of God’s creatures) these alterations are not by mistake…
Read the KJV and if you can, read the Bible in its original tongues. The new versions are corrupt don’t be lazy

          • True”!!!!? Be Very Careful” !! When ” Choosing ” What you read”!!? The “(New”) Or Newer”?? Bibles” are writing by the “(Illuminati )” To misdirect you”!!? (mislead”) you to damnation “!!! Please pray for Guidance “!! Discernment”!!,?? ” God Bless” Everyone”!!! Amen”

The above video link discusses the many pagan practices in Roman Catholicism.

  5. I am not a catholic but i think statements like that just generate hate in which certainly was not Jesus teachings so maybe you should read a bit more of you bible of choice and see Gods love to all his people and a little less about which churches are right and wrong. Very few protestant churches actually follow only the bible and gospel exactly anyway and so consider your own ways before you consider other peoples

    • @ Andrew: I couldn’t agree more.

    • I do beleive the Catholic religion is the most true way to God. A lot of the comments I see here are hateful and from uneducated people. I have done research on other Christian religions by pastors and people belonging to those religions. Many of them are entangled in misconceptions of the Catholic church. If you want answers, look to history books and question experts of the religion you are in disagreement with. My quest was for the most ancient, who changed what, and who had the most resonable answers. To me it was the Catholic Church. But like the post above me, instead of people finding common ground people use hate to defend their points. Catholics and all other denominations of it should be ashamed of that. Love, understanding, forgivenes, compassion, and being moral is what the Bible teaches. Those of you who disagree with hate need to repent and become knowlegable before making hurtful accusations. With much love to all Christians, Saul.

      • There are many heresy’s in the catholic religion for instance the bible says call no man father! The bible never says that bread and wine blessed by a man would actually turn in to the body and blood of christ and we never see John the Baptist baptizing any babies only born again Believers in Christ are to be structurally baptized no where does it say that a man of God is suppose to wear a dress or turn his collar around backwards and the bible says that mary had more children after Jesus so she is not still a virgin and it is not the suffering of Christ that saves us it is his BLOOD! and we can’t work our way to heaven or do any penance because we are saved by grace! No religion is the way to heaven Christ is the way to heaven

        • (and we can’t work our way to heaven or do any penance because we are saved by grace!)

Jesus said. what you do unto the least of my brothers you do unto me. now heaven is all pure all holy so doesnt it make sense that we must make up for our sins to enter into heaven whether it be through helping of the poor or asking god for forgiveness and truely being sorry? now catholics believe purgatory is a place between heaven and earth from when we are cleansed this makes sense becasue heaven is all holy and be must then be cleasned before our entry. if it was either just straight to heaven or hell we would all go to hell because everyone sins, and there is no sin or impurities in heaven.

          • so basically you dont read the bible because it clearly states that Jesus cleansing us is our only way into heaven

            Isaiah 64:6
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

sorry dude but with all your actions you will never ever get ‘clean’ only Gods amazing sacrifice will save you as the bible says

          • by the way that doesnt mean actions arent required they are something a christian should do but not for salvation they should do it because they love the Jesus for the great thing he has done in there life

            1 John 4:19
We love him, because he first loved us

            John 14:6s
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

            Matthew 7:21-23
Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

        • There are many heresy’s in the catholic religion for instance the bible says call no man father! The bible never says that bread and wine blessed by a man would actually turn in to the body and blood of christ
ANSWER: When Jesus said do this in memory of me. Means?

Never see John the Baptist baptizing any babies
ANSWER; The baptism wasn’t originated from John and wasn’t something new. Learn the history of baptism. And also learn about kids circumcision and many more. Expand your brain.

Only born again Believers (narrowed mechanical believers) in Christ are to be structurally baptized.

No where does it say that a man of God is suppose to wear a dress or turn his collar around backwards
ANSWER; Premature points. Like nowhere its written in a bible to use jumbo jet. Will God judge our dresses? or priests dresses?

The bible says that mary had more children after Jesus so she is not still a virgin.
ANSWER; The word “brothers”, was known as desposyni,[1] from the Greek δεσπόσυνοι, plural of δεσπόσυνος, meaning “of or belonging to the master or lord”.

And it is not the suffering of Christ that saves us it is his BLOOD! and we can’t work our way to heaven or do any penance because we are saved by grace! No religion is the way to heaven Christ is the way to heaven
ANSWER:Jesus was in a group of religion too. He preached in a his church-church of God. It wasn’t vague like that. Church of God not any church. The devil is dividing us.

          • Mary and Joseph had children after Jesus was born. Mary was a virgin when she conceived but she did not remain a virgin, that is clearly in the New Testament too.

He also clearly had siblings. However, Jesus made sure that although he had actual siblings that they had no special privileges regarding salvation and even Mary had to confess He is the son of God–this is why when his family came to see Him; He made sure to clarify that as the Son of God–none of his actual siblings or even his mother are above me or you. ALL, including Mary and his siblings have to achieve salvation through Jesus.

All of this is in Matthew, Luke, John, Colossians, etc…

Very easy to read and understand.

Matthew 24 And Joseph arose from his sleep, and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took her as his wife, 25 and kept her a virgin UNTIL she gave birth to a Son; and he called His name Jesus. <—— That is pretty clear.

Matthew 13:55-56 "Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not His mother called Mary, and His brothers, James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? 56 "And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this man get all these things?" 57 And they took offense at Him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his home town, and in his own household." <— This is about His communities doubt regarding Jesus being the Son of God from His. They questioned how could Jesus who grew up around us and they all know his brothers and sisters personally and his parents; be the Son of God. He had SIBLINGS from Mary and Joseph having children.

Mark 6:3 "Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of James, and Joses, and Judas, and Simon? Are not His sisters here with us?" And they took offense at Him. 4 And Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his home town and among his own relatives and in his own household."

Matthew 12:46 While He was still speaking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers were standing outside, seeking to speak to Him. 47 And someone said to Him, "Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside seeking to speak to You." 48 But He answered the one who was telling Him and said, "Who is My mother and who are My brothers?" 49 And stretching out His hand toward His disciples, He said, "Behold, My mother and My brothers! 50 "For whoever does the will of My Father who is in heaven, he is My brother and sister and mother." <— Here He points out the theme of His entire message, NO ONE IS GREATER and that although we may have BLOOD family, GOD comes before blood. He was also sharing Gods message at that time and He was not going to stop doing His Fathers work for anyone. Also, that through believing in Jesus we are ALL now the body of Christ and family. Jesus did not come into the world to bring peace, He came to divide us, meaning we MUST choose Him always FIRST above all others. Of course, He also said that you can tell if people are truly saved by their fruits. Good or bad fruit… Being saved is not an act, it is within the depths of our heart and spirit therefore we desire to be in obedience and produce good fruits.

Mark 3:31 And His mother and His brothers *arrived, and standing outside they sent word to Him, and called Him. 32 And a multitude was sitting around Him, and they *said to Him, "Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are outside looking for You." 33 And answering them, He *said, "Who are My mother and My brothers?" 34 And looking about on those who were sitting around Him, He *said, "Behold, My mother and My brothers! 35 "For whoever does the will of God, he is My brother and sister and mother."

Luke 8:19 And His mother and brothers came to Him, and they were unable to get to Him because of the crowd. 20 And it was reported to Him, "Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, wishing to see You." 21 But He answered and said to them, "My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it."

            Greek Dictionary: cousin/Relative:

anepsios (ajneyiov" , (431)), in Col. 4:10 denotes a cousin rather than a nephew (A.V., "sister's son"). "Cousin" is its meaning in various periods of Greek writers.¶ In this sense it is used in the Sept., in Numb. 36:11.¶ In later writings it denotes a nephew; hence the A.V. rendering. As Lightfoot says, there is no reason to suppose that the Apostle would have used it in any other than its proper sense. We are to understand, therefore, that Mark was the cousin of Barnabas.

sungenis (suggeniv" , (4773)) in Luke 1:36 (so in the most authentic mss.) and sungeneµs in ver. 58 (plural), A.V., "cousin" and "cousins," respectively signify "kinswoman" and "kinsfolk," (R.V.); so the R.V. and A.V. in 2:44 and 21:16. The word lit. signifies 'born with,' i.e., of the same stock, or descent; hence kinsman, kindred. See Kin, Kinsfolk, Kinswoman.
Note: In Col. 4:10, A.V., anepsios (cp. Lat., nepos, whence Eng., nephew), a cousin (so, R.V.), is translated "sister's son." See Cousin.¶ John 1:41

The term brother is never used in the New Testament to denote a cousin or relative or anything other than a literal BROTHER.

John 1:41 He *found first his own brother Simon, and *said to him, "We have found the Messiah" <—- A brother in blood is a brother. We can also have brothers and sisters in Christ. HOWEVER, Jesus made it clear that yes His blood family was outside but He was not stopping Gods work for them. That God and followers of God come before blood family, friends, our job, our spouse, etc…

Mary was like you and me, a sinner. She is not to be exalted over anyone. Jesus continues to repeat this all throughout the New Testament, all are sinners. NO MAN or WOMAN is greater than the other. Jesus is the ONLY way to the Father. Jesus is the ONLY person to have lived a SINLESS life.

You get to God, through Jesus, by the power of the Holy Spirit. This is all in the New Testament. It is repeated over and over that Jesus most certainly had actual siblings and Mary was their mother. Mary like all other people in the Bible that God used was never about them, they were used to bring GLORY TO GOD through Jesus… God is a jealous God.

          • On the cross Jesus gave His Mother to us and entrusted Mary to the disciple He loved (John 19:25-27). If Jesus had siblings, He wouldn’t have to make sure that she was taken care of. Mary would have gone to stay with her other children, not the disciple John.

        • Very true!

  6. there is a very good book that you all should raed
it is called catholicism against itself, it might
open aq lot of eyes nbut only if you want to the
    truth.

    • What is it about and to what side is it biased for example baptist atheist etc

    • I’m a strong catholic with a atrong protestant girlfriend I would like to read this book. How indepth does it go and what topics does it cover, also how many pages is it?

  7. the king james bible was writen by man i saw the bible and there are gids words changed in places and in other places removed. the reue and only unchanged bible is the latin ulgate. which the vatican hass the origional. the king hames is not the true wird of god because it was inspired by man where the true bible was inspired by god. as was the apostles creed was inspited by the holey ghost to all the 12 apostles. the neicen creed that replaced the apostles creed is false. and indecates reincarination. which there is no such thing. i am roman catholic and i am 69 years old i dont expect most people to remember the true church which has allso changed.. i deem the king james bible as part false in places and gods own words missing in other places. and i fear that vatican two will cause the only true church to become luke warm and fall away like the other of the seven churches did. see

    http://www.drbo.org/chapter/73001.htm

  8. there are many many serious errors in the information given here.
there can be no doubt that whoever wrote this stuff is writing from a serious catholic bias and making untrue statements about the Protestant Bible and so…..how else would you think Protestants to react?
should they be happy to read lies about their Bible?
if i told lies about the catholic vulgate would catholics have the right to get angry? of course they would.

firstly…..the person who put this information on this site is not biblical scholar…..they are repeating history that they have learned from one specific source. to get a good grasp of historical truth one needs to have studied history from many many different sources.

the KJV is NOT a translation of the catholic Bible…..as this site infers It to be.
the KJV was taken from direct Greek manuscripts etc. it was not translated into English from Latin…..it was translated into English from Greek…..the Greek manuscripts.

secondly…..to say that the scholars who translated the KJV had very little Hebrew knowledge would be a grotesque and direct lie.
those men were in fact amoung the absolute best Hebrew scholars on planet earth. all were linguistic scholars…..some spoke more than ten languages fluently and all of them had incredible knowledge of many ancient languages as well as knowledge of the Hebrew.

we should not let those who are biased and unknowledable form our understanding of history and of God’s Word.

for most who do not know this…..there were two schools of ancient Hebrew scribes…..the original Levitical Priesthood had specific methods of scribing God’s Word so that It could not be misunderstood or mistranslated…..but a new school of scribes eventually came along…..the Bible tells the story of this new school of scibes and how they were evil…..and how they had evil intentions…..to pervert the Word of God.
the Levitical Priesthood was infiltrated by a group of people called the kenites…..who began calling themselves rechabites…..and who infiltrated the Priesthood and began hauling water for the Priests but eventually became scribes and Priests over many years.
when Judah and Israel were kicked out of the middle east…..Israel was dispersed and only a small remnant of Judah returned to Israel…..during the time Judah was in Babylonian captivity…..almost a century…..there were very few actual people of true Judah left in the land of Judah…..and this is when the evil kenites began calling themselves ‘jews’…..they lived in the land of Judah and designated the name to themselves merely because of their geographical location…..much like blacks whites and asians all call themselves New Yorkers…..even though they are racially different people.
when Christ came to earth He told these kenite infiltrators that they were not the true children of Israel as they claimed they were…..they were calling themselves jews but were lieing about it…..this is why the first few chapters of Revelations Speaks of…..those who call themselves jews, but do lie.

so…..this means that there are 2 sets of ancient Biblical manuscripts out there…..2 schools of thought…..if you like…..one is True and Righteous…..the other is a lie.

the KJV was translated from one of these schools…..the lating vulgate was translated from the other…..ill let you do your own research to figure out were each was taken from.

    hope that helps=)

    in Christ
    Scott

  9. God created this universe and others that might exist and we don’t know of. He created all the stars and planets. He created the Earth and when the earth was ready to support life, life came to the earth. He put the spirit in the man when he was ready to receive it, and at that point, the man became a creature different from the other animals, aware of who he was and of the existence of God. And the man created religion; lots of them.
I am a Catholic man and I tell you that religion is a human creation; God exists before any religion was created. I go to church not looking for God, because I can find Him anywhere. I go to church looking for the man; who is hungry that I can feed, who needs clothes that I can dress, who needs shelter, who needs to be educated, who needs to be healed.
I am a Catholic not because it is the best religion, but because it makes me a better man.
The role of the Catholic religion in the world is colossal. It feeds millions of hungry people, it educates millions more, through it’s hospitals it heals millions of sick and wounded, it brings harmony into conflicts between people and countries and much more.
It is not a perfect religion, because it’s members are humans and no human is perfect. But most of the people in it are good and well intentioned, which pushes the religion forward and makes this world a better place to live.
In resume, forget about what bible is better. Love the others, do good and and be at peace with God.

    • So true how many forget all the good the Catholic Church does and has done!

    • Prove god created the plants and universe, you can’t because religon is based on faith and science is based on fact.

      • Wrong. Science assumes everything and conducts all experiments based off the assumptions. Scientists don’t follow the model we learned in school. Widely accepted theories are also accepted by the masses as fact. Is the Earth still flat? Read about carbon dating, the theory behind it and how they ignored real data they measured assuming it was false because they think the Earth should be millions of years old. Look into creationism and new advances in DNA and atoms. Scientists have found that they can no longer deny our creation but refuse to say God. They call it intelligent design. Look it up!

    • False. Science has proven that two massive forms of matter crashed towards each other creating the big bang. ( Theoretically). But, you do present a good point and I am a sort-of believer in God. So, I would support you madame.

    • I like your post best.

  10. The Catholic Bible has up to 79 books, including up to 13 books depending on version, which are not considered by all to be a part of the canon of inspired scripture.

The KJV has just the 66 books of the recognized canon of scripture.

    • Why would a bible leave books out?

      • It’s not a matter of leaving books out of the KJV, rather that the Catholic has the extra 13 books added.

        • When were they “added” by Catholics? – protestants are stupid about history. The original KJV had the same books as the Catholics, then they slowly removed it to conform to the version Martin Luther and his followers were promoting. The Lutheran original also removed the books of Hebrews and Revelation because Luther didn’t like them.

The Catholics didn’t add anything, Protestants removed books then they say they got it all and Catholics added. How ignorant. Just look at the Catholics and Orthodox – the Ethiopian Orthodox have more than 80 books in their Bible, but ignorant Protestants don’t even know these churches exist.

          • I agree Michael. Catholics did not add– Protestants did kick out some books.

          • Thats correct, the protest-ants TOOK away from the bible, instead of ADDing to it. Which was ungodly and forbiden. The kjv is worthless and full of error. St. Jerome was the true untellectual un languge. He was fluent in aramaic and hebrew. So was polycarp and ignatiius. Both recogognized by facts in history to be tuaght by the last true apostles from christ himself the true church fathers. Which btw, the protetest-ants hijacked their writtings and made them their own.fruads luther all the way up to joel “the mega church” olestien ! Ive spoken to so called baps presbytes etc…all cant stand mary ,christs own mother. Ask yourselves, woud you have x with the vessel of jesus ? If you would than your sick in the head. Joseph did not either ! Ever ! Kjv is just absurd retaliation.

          • Catholics also took out 3rd and 4th Ezra which the Greek Orthodox accept and which were/are found in the Septuagint LXX translation of the Old Testament. As a result, these two books are found neither in Catholic Bibles nor in the KJV with Apocrypha. But they can be found in Sir Lacelot Brenton’s translation of the Septuagint, and in the “NRSV with Apocrypha” but not in “NRSV Catholic Edition.”

    • Catholic Bible has Not 79 books but 73 in all (OT & NT). For 15 centuries all Christians accepted that. Then came Lutherans, Anglicans and others, and who are these, each instituting his own church from the 16th century onwards and presenting their own version of the Bible. Better to follow what has been there from the beginning. Catholics are the largest religious group (over 1.2 billion) in the world and all the Protestants put together do not exceed 400 million. Also, mind you, if you are not a believer in Catholicism and a practising catholic you will not be able to understand why Catholics believe or do certain things the way they do them. So you should not be quick to judge or much less to condemn others.

  11. As an evangelical pastor and missionary who has spoken and served the Lord in other languages for most of my life, i’m always amazed by the silliness that surrounds debates on Bible translations, and especially of those who view the KJV as the definitive English version. Use your brains, people! The ONLY “perfect” versions of God’s Word are those which have been compared for mistakes, evaluated for agreement, and double-checked for authenticity from the more than 5000 fragments and complete manuscripts in existence today… many of which were undiscovered when the KJV was translated. And these are ALL written in koine Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic, the languages the prophets, psalmists, and apostles spoke. So the ONLY 100% correct scriptures are the ancient ones. Every other version is an attempt to translate those ancient words into our own language… a very difficult task when dealing with ancient languages, peoples and world-views. The KJV was translated several hundred years ago by humans who spoke the English of that day- who had never lived in the Middle East and knew nothing of the worldview of Israelites. Complete literal translations (word for word copies of what is written in ancient Hebrew, or even Greek) would be unintelligible for Anglophones but probably not for Arabophones, so translators restructure scripture so that it makes sense in our own language. Dynamic translations attempt to translate the words AND the thoughts in ways that are easier for us to understand…. try translating “white as snow” into a saharan African language, or “shepherds and sheep” into an Iraian Jayan language where neither exists.

Those who dedicate their entire lives (Wycliff and SIL etc) to translating scripture from Greek and Hebrew into the language of the people to whom God has called them translate DIERCTLY from the inspired Hebrew and Greek scriptures! They explain what the scripture is communicating to native **** speakers, and then ask THEM how to say that succinctly and grammatically in their language. And that translation is every bit as inspired today as the KJV was 400 years ago when people actually spoke Shakespearian English on a daily basis.

So, let’s get rid of our superstitions and use our God-given brains, people!!!! Those who say that the KJV is the only correct/accurate english translation are either ignorant, superstitious or intellectually dishonest. When one tries to confront Muslims with the lies/errors that are visible in the English or French or *** translation of the Quran, they cop out by saying that the Quran can only be 100% correct in Arabic (God’s language), which means that you would have to be a doctor in classical arabic before you’d be allowed to comment on what it’s actually saying.

God’s word is alive and sharper than any double-bladed sword… and unless you’ve got a doctorate in ancient Hebrew, koine Greek, and Mediterranean anthropology, you’ll just have to trust all the God-impassioned translators who are attempting to carry all the rich content of God’s Word over into our languages, cultures, and world-views. Amen.

Here’s a really interesting version to check out: The Complete Jewish Bible.

  12. Thank U greatly Bruce for your comment as lead by the Holy Ghost the power behind the letter that gives understanding to the SIMPLE.Those who desperately seek for God could find him even beneath the bell of the FISH in the Ocean.
Most found ourselves in the individual section or segment of religion we are but most know the TRUTH to set us free from mere religion.I need HIM always .Let us get God and not mere letters.Stay bless.
    Paul

  13. God so sat out one fondation for his church , to teach and to help your brother at all time. Not to set turmoil amongest our self , as to who has the better teachings , we all need to be in touch with GOD for we are all seeking the answer and want to be saved keep simple.

  14. To whom it may concern,

I understand the argument amongst the all of you is each one of you want to be found in a better place than the other (except for the few honest people that asked for guidance because they want to know Jehovah better). The reason that Jesus Christ came to earth was to make sure you people stop trying to justify the work of your hands and to look at things from above. Most of the arguments you guys are putting across are saying ” i am doing better than you” to the person next to you and that i can assure you is not part of the great plan of redemption. Guys, i mplore you to go back to the drawing board. Go and pray fervently and also study of God’s word deligently and get insight from above. Get taught of the spirit of God and stop going to schools to get educated of things pertaining to the most high because you will keep nothing but confusion in your minds. Jesus came to change the way people were thinking concerning spiritual things and i think its time most of you guys changed your mind sets

    • i agree with this guy and believe me i know about this stuff im a protestant from northern ireland iv heard all more sectarian ignorism than you can even imagine.people should just stick to Jesus love

  15. The last few posts have been smart and well worded! As a devoted Catholic I’d have to say that I love my church (And Lord knows we’ve had our issues, especially recently but hey at least we haven’t had an inquisition lately..) and I love our TRADITIONS, they strengthen my faith and love. There doesn’t have to be this ‘war’ of denominations and sects. There has already been enough hate, anger and resentment over words in old books for past two millennia. I always embrace my brothers and sisters of God included my Islamic and Jewish brethren. May peace be with you all, God Bless.

  16. I am muslim. I stumbled across this web site or article by accident. It is interesting. I don’t want to get into heated arguments here. I always had one question which I asked many of my christian brothers that if a word has been changed or a book has been altered how then can it be called ” word of God”? Why doesn’t anyone in the christiandom question the so called “VERSIONS OF BIBLE”. Every version is quite different from each other. In Islam we beleive the QURAN to be the word of GOD for entire humanity. A Quran in any country of the world WILL BE IDENTICAL in the wordings. THINK.

    • There is only one Bible in the English language – the King James Bible. In this time of falling away, many professed Christians are using and publishing various versions, thereby distorting the word of God, in order for it to agree with their sinful lies and in order to make money. There are various versions of the Koran also.

    • impossible if the quran is translated into english words will change in slightly in social meaning and order not to mention that not every word exists in every language. sorry but the only correct version is in islamic just like the original bible in greek etc but i understand what your trying to say

    • Raj, in many hearts in america the material comes first. The Fear of God does not exist much over here. His wisdom. I found out the in the Qu’ran that some scriptures were used from the KJV. King James was a very godly man and had total faith in Him, through Jesus. Many evils exist in this world all over, and all this fighting is not necessary. People are being used all ove by these evil ones in the higher up illuminati. who are the ones inciting the division, this has all been preplanned by the vatican. who gets in touch with the Black pope ‘hans” who is in contact with satan. This is a very much supernatural war that is going to be. check our Wesak Festival. and the world servers the new religion will be budda hinu. infested with wicca new agers from this 4th reich in place. witches here in the states are horrific. they do kill children in their sacrifices. and the wiccas kill children through the abortions. Very sad, but all their evil rituals are to help bring in these fallen angels and demons. womens lib was put into place to divide families these wicca- witches new age thinking people are an abomination to God. The ascended masters are here now. check out I AM Universty, Wisdom University, Temple of Presence, Sheldon Nidle , the galatic federation , Ishtar, jesus sonanda immanuel, st germaine and the list goes on. Ya know the US is still under the British rule, we are still a colony of England. Many people don’t know this. the laws on witchcraft are steep. Islam is British Republic also. The Shariah laws do exist and so do the witchcraft laws in England. we have no declaration of Independence , and the constitution was rendered null and void in the 1700’s. There is a fella who has much documents on all this. People can believe or not that is their choice. But the Only One who will save us is Jesus Christ. You will see what I mean as time goes on. God Bless you Raj.

    • You may be Muslim but you are the only person who got it right. The Koran is the first 5 books of the Bible. It is read and agreed by ALL Muslims , Jews and Christians alike. When I was in public school 50 years ago, first we started with prayer, then someone read out of the Bible ( from 1 of the 5 books) then we said the pledge and then we sang an American song.

  17. I agree with Austin. It is only through Gods word and his holy spirit (that we must pray for) that gives us the understanding and through searching and seeking Gods Word is where we will find the truth and “accurate knowledge” that gives us greaT wisdom as to how to live our lives in accord with God and how to follow his Son’s example as closely as possible. The bible says that “faith without works is dead,” and that includes a diligent study of Gods word and living our lives as moral, good Christians. Matthew 17:13,14 says, “Go in through the narrow gate, because broad and spacious is the road leading of into destruction and many are going in through it, whereas narrow is the gate off into life and few are the ones finding it.” So that would involve a constant, diligent search of the scriptures and prayer for Gods Holy spirit for understanding, if we want to be on that “Narrow road leading to everlasting life. By continuing to argue, hate and judgee one another, you are only fulfilling prophesy. If everyone spent less time judging and debating, and more time truly studying Gods Word, you would be surprised at the vast amount of wisdom you will acquire. Which in turn will make each of us a better, kinder, more loving and forgiving Individual, which is exactly what Jehovah God asks of us and the example that his Son Jesus set for us to follow. Let’s leave the “judging” up to God, and focus more on learning accurate knowledge of Gods, teaching others about Gods Kingdom as Jesus did, and becoming a better, more peaceful, loving human beings.

  18. The King James Bible is the true words of God. It was written the way that God wanted it from these scholared men that King James organized together. Did anyone ever give thought that this Holy book was written this way to make keep the words one of a kind. The 1769 has the exact words in it only made in more readable english. the new king james versions have been corrupted towards new age, and the evil ones placed a 666 symbol on front of this new king james book. the other bibles out there were published by ruppert murdock, who published satans bible, and westcott and hort also who had their hands in the niv and others, have mutilated the words of God. leaving out important scriptures and adding to God’s words. these people are masons, jesuits, and westcott and hort are certified warlocks in witchcraft. Somehow having these wicked demons involved with God’s words is disgusting to me. compare scriptures and you will find out.
The King James Bible is 400 years old, even though there were books ahead, they were not completed. Being reborn through Jesus Christ is the ONLY way that one will see God’s Kingdom. To the real Jesus Christ and not to some ascended fallen angel called Jesus Sananda Immanuel coming in on some spacecraft machine. They will be the demons, not aliens. yes call me crazy but look it up the chapter about Ezekiel s Vision. of that wheel. in the KJV Bible.

  19. Wow! All I did was come on looking for an answer as to whether or not there is a King James version of the Catholic bible. My daughter and I were having a discussion that the New American bible and the New International bible were just versions or translations of the bible, and the only thing that makes mine Catholic is the Apocrypha. I told her I didn’t believe there was a “Catholic version” of the King James bible and she said she thought there was. So I was looking for that answer and instead I see comments so typical they nauseate me. Really? Catholic bashing? As a former Protestant I’m ashamed of all of you who have partaken in it. The Roman Catholic Church is the oldest church, started by St. Paul. Protestants seem very defensive because their various branches of faith came about later so maybe they feel the need to knock down Catholicism to make their branches of their faith look better? Kind of like the silly school yard game “my dad can beat up your dad” only on a much sadder level. Well, if Catholicism is a cult I’m very glad to be a part of it. I was baptized a Lutheran, went to various denominations with my parents over the years, and ended up a Methodist. It wasn’t until I converted to Catholicism that I found true peace, understanding, and joy in my religion. So I’m the happiest cult member around! Thanks for showing me that even such as simple as a debate about the translations of the bible can turn into a school yard brawl. It just reaffirms why I left the Protestant church.

    • im not a catholic but i really agree with you except for one thing i dont think you should even take into consideration separating the churches like you have your a christian not a catholic or methodist or whatever. every church both ‘protestant’ and catholic churches need to grow as proven by this conversation but people like you are needed to bridge this gap so show love to all christians and hope some day we can all be a closer family and sort out these issues

      • What you said concerning love and unity is great in thought. But the problem is that the Lord has given us a standard to bear, and that means we are to bear it. We are to follow His word, not just up to a point. If someone chooses to follow some of the Bible, and hold what they consider important to be there main theme of worship, and another does the same. I am here to tell you that both are wrong. We are to obey and learn the whole counsel of God. We are to be a Holy people, which means a seperated people. Not seperated from each other, but seperated from the world and from heresy. The Roman Catholics follow the teachings of men, church history and tradition. The Protestants follow creeds and tradition and some Bible. The Baptists (historical Baptists, there is a difference) follow the Bible and the teachings that are clearly taught in it. Some others also follow the Bible as close as they are able, these are fellow beleivers to me. But those that follow as they see fit are not counted by me as fellow beleivers. I am an historical Baptist, or as we were called in the early church a paulinist or paulition. And from early history we were called Baptists long before the reformation. We were killed because we followed and beleived the word of God. Protestants and Catholics killed us. So I say this, I am willing to fellowship and eat with all those that are true beleivers and truly Born again, and I will love and witness to the lost, but I will not accept union or fellowship with a heretic, Or an apostate. The Bible says ” 14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

16And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

        And Philippians 3:16
“Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us WALK by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.”

        Also Amos 3:3
“Can two walk together, except they be agreed?”
We are not to just get along. We are to be united with the Word and the People that follow it, no one else. This liberalism of being accepting no matter how far off they are is a complete shame for any slef proclaiming Christian. A true Christian would grieve if they had to stay around a bunch of fake Christians. Roman Catholics and Baptists are not the same nor will we be. The Lord said ” Luke 12:51 Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:”

The context being all important, the Lord wants all of His people united, but the rest will not want to be around us due to our Holy stand in Christ, by His power. As was said before what fellowship can righteousness have with unrighteousness. The Bible , the whole Bible and nothing but the Bible. In love please surrender to the Lord Jesus Christ.

        • Almost…you almost have it. Your interpretation of the scriptures is correct & certainly can’t be condemned. Unfortunately your text doesn’t agree w/the scriptures. The writings/actions I speak of are: 1) Your pen name. Perhaps it’s no more than that, however you must admit most will assume you to consider yourself a pasture-likely of a local congregation; selected as such by the local members or elders, & compensated on an agreed amount for your services (in a nutshell-so to speak). By what & who’s authority do you practice such, as there is no biblical/Godley authority for it? Scriptures please? 2) You call yourself a Baptist. Are you a Christian or Baptist? There is only 1 name by which we are saved. Are you one or the other, or do you attempt to add to God’s word, trying to improve it, by using a different name than that which is given by the most high? 3) To my knowledge (which is limited) there were no Baptists prior to the early 1600s. There are those, such as yourself, that claim existence since Christ (or of similar claims). Perhaps this is true, though I find no history to support it. (Again, I’m human & as such lack knowledge) Even if the Baptist religion has existed since Christ’s time here on earth, what makes it the correct choice? More importantly, what keeps it from being another wrong choice? Does it support the idea of instrumental music in services; does it teach remembrance of the Lord’s suffering upon the 1st day of the week-every wk; Sunday school; paid pastor; calling it’s members Baptists? Though it may be 2000yrs old, how is it superior to the 1 & only true Church, the 1 Christ started, built, is the head of, & wears His name-not any other (afterall, why should it use ANY other name, especially since it’s his Church & he said we’ll be saved by no other name)?

I can certainly be wrong, & very well may be. The word of God is not though, & as of present, I find no support in it for many of the Baptist’s teachings, & actually find many scriptures that teach against much of the Baptist’s teachings. If you’ve scriptural support for your religion, I beg of you to present it so that I may repent of my mistaken understandings & pray God forgive me of such. If you’ve no support then please contact me then also. Either way I would like to know & discuss the scriptures w/you or anyone. Thank you for your time. jody85@ymail.com

    • You need to learn some history. The roman catholic church did not start until 318 A.D. by constantine of Rome. It is not the oldest Christian church. The true church was started in Mark 3 By the Lord calling out his diciples, the word church means ” a called out assembly”. Now concerning your statement on Bible versions, the Lord said ” a house divided cannot stand.” The word also says, ” the Lord is not the author of confusion.” So to say they are all the word of God is to say that God is for cofusion and is for division in the house of God. All the versions are different, and have totally different teachings. The KJV is the word of God in english and it was the only Bible for 200 years before two catholics decided to go to a catholic monistary to find a better Bible. They only succeded in finding a few scraps in a trash can and called it better than the pure manuscipts the KJV translators used. I am only hoping you will actually look into this and learn the truth instead of following the false teaching of the roman catholics.

      • FINALLY! Someone w/a correct statement-1 that, as a whole, cannot be condemned. Thank you. How sad it is to see so many comments, presented as true, that are anywhere from complete lies to having a form of truth, but none (that offer guidance), are complete w/out including some false information… except for your post/reply! Thx again!

    • True enough. If we will be silent about the Truth, the stones will speak.

    • I find all of this discussion rather amusing and alarming at the same time. I’ll put this in as plain language as possible for as far as I can find out, the Jews came up with their Bible (our OT) about 200 years before Jesus was born. Most of it was either written in Greek or translated into Greek (from Hebrew, Aramaic and other languages)because most of the scholars (the Jews who would want t0 read it) were fluent in Greek.

This book became the OT of the Vulgate-all 46 books. The New Testament was formed of various articles, letters, and biographical writings written mostly in Greek or Aramaic and then translated into Latin to form the Vulgate which was THE Bible for about a thousand years. The translation into Latin is usually attributed to St. Jerome. So this hand-copied version was what everyone who could get a copy read.

Then in the Protestant Bible, the books of the Jewish Bible needed to be deleted because the Protestants did not agree with some of the beliefs held by Catholics-Purgatory, intercession by the saints, intercession by angels, prays for the dead, etc. So seven books of the Jewish Bible were cut along with various chapters of other books, collectively called the Apocrypha. The Douray-Rhiems Bible, published 2 years before the KJV kept the Apocrypha.

Now for King James I of England, formerly King James VI of Scotland, he was a Catholic who was trying to take over his cousin’s country peacefully upon her death by her request. He wasn’t welcomed by the Anglicans but had been accepted by the Calvinists and the Presbyterians in Scotland and decided he needed a “hook” to unite the two countries and save his claim to England. Remember, England had just gone from one blood bath to another during the reigns of Henry VIII and his offspring as they alternately tried to eliminate Catholicism and then Protestantism. The translation of the Latin Vulgate, Greek versions and others was a task to bring the Bible to the people of England so they could have a true freedom of religion by being able to read God’s Word for themselves without the interpretation of a local priest or bishop. The scholarly people selected represented all the current Protestant sects.

So a Catholic king formed a committee to translate an English Protestant Bible so that he could hopefully save his throne from the civil strife of religious wars. It didn’t work. His offspring were weak, selfish, conniving rulers who led the country into the English Revolution, the execution of a king and the banning of Catholics from the throne of England. When they finally ran out of non-Catholic lineage, the English had to go to Hanover to bring a German speaking cousin to the throne, George I.

Both the Douay-Rheims and the KJV are very good translations, mostly from the original languages and both the word of God in the Judeo-Christian tradition. Yes, the Quran has some passages that are similar and the Old Testament has some stories that showed up in other religious traditions, but that doesn’t negate their value as teaching God’s intentions for humankind. For my self, I’ll stick with the Douay-Rheims and the Catholic interpretations, thank you.

    • Every time its protest-ants that start their “Holy” desent into the “WordOfGod” theatrics. There would be NO Church period, if it werent for the True Church Fathers ! Theyll never admit to their Sin of dividing The True Church. All of the problems we have today is bc of them. Abortion right on down to the destruction of the family. Permitting divorce worst ever in history ! Ok Mr. Word of God protestant. The Bible says, God makes One flesh of One married MAN and One married Woman. Not to be undone by anyone, but yet its the protest-ant churchs who allow it. Whos allowing abortion, whos marrying homosexuals, on and on it goes. Those are not Roman Catholic doctrines. There protest-ant ACTIONS. Any denomination” who hates Mary, Gods own Mother, aint jack to me! Latin Rite Mass is The ONLY TRUE Church of Gods Son. Yes Sir, their Catholic bashing. Their just mad , bc their oyster crackers arent sufficiant to sin. And they know it ! Luther was angry about indulgences, and look what theyve done with it ? Destroyed divided an entire world with their PRIDE and arrogance ! We Catholics arent ashamed of a crucifix , Christ had to get on it before He got off of it ! Wheres your Crucifix protest-ants ? Isnt in your places of worship, thats for sure. Hype-o-crits. Praise band lunacy, flopping around on floors, blabbing in your pews, checking your cells …doing business in His Fathers House ??? How did that work out for the money changers ? You brood of vipers !

    • There are KJV Bibles with the Apocrypha, but hard to find. They did include the Apocrypha in 1611. But unlike Catholic Bibles (where the Apocrypha is dispersed throughout the Old Testament) they had it contained in one section between the Old and New Testaments.

    • Mary, you are the coolest!

  20. What you posted made a ton of sense. However, consider this, what if you added a little content? I mean, I don’t wish to tell you how to run your website, but suppose you added something that grabbed folk’s attention? I mean Difference Between Catholic Bible and King James Bible | Difference Between | Catholic Bible vs King James Bible is a little plain. You should look at Yahoo’s home page and watch how they create post headlines to get people to open the links. You might try adding a video or a related pic or two to get readers excited about what you’ve written. In my opinion, it could make your posts a little bit more interesting.

  21. Each side seems to have a convincing argument as to which book is superior to the other.
Now, I don’t know if the following teaching is in every translation or if it is even included in ANY translation as I haven’t really read a bible. Perhaps it was merely taken from a bumper sticker–BUT it seems pretty witty and seems to possess an intuitive truth to it:
“Shut up! And know that I am God!

  22. –and RajHassan doesn’t believe the “QURAN to be the word of GOD for entire humanity.”
He believes the Quran is the WORDS of God for all humanity. That’s a much more dangerous position.

  23. Jesus Christ is God, He was born through the Virgin Mary, she concieved by the Holy Ghost. So Jesus could walk on this earth to die on that cross, so we could live if we accepted His Salvation, and become reborn again through His blood. Many words and scriptures are missing out of the other Bibles. and many words change it to a different meaning in other Bibles . the niv says rainbow, but King James Bible says bow as in Genesis 1 bow is a white light, the colors come from within. the relgular rainbow we see comes from a prism of colors that come from material means . anything material is of lucifer. The idols in the catholic church, or any church are against God, no graven images , nothing material . It is about the Faith shown to Jesus Christ, not some reminder to remind us of Jesus.

    John
    (K.J.V. 1611) .
1 In the beginning was the Word, & the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darknesse, and the darknesse comprehended it not.

    Exodus 20:
    (K.J.V. 1611) .
1 And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the Lord thy God, which haue brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage:
3 Thou shalt haue no other Gods before me.
4 Thou shalt not make vnto thee any grauen Image, or any likenesse of any thing that is in heauen aboue, orthat is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water vnder the earth.
5 Thou shalt not bow downe thy selfe to them, nor serue them: For I the Lord thy God am a iealous God, visitingthe iniquitie of the fathers vpon the children, vnto the thirde and fourth generation of them that hate me:
6 And shewing mercy vnto thousands of them that loue mee, and keepe my Commandements.

    John 20 KJV1611

27 Then saith he to Thomas Reach hither thy finger, and beholde my hands, and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side, and bee not faithlesse, but beleeuing.

28 And Thomas answered, and said vnto him, My Lord, and my God.

29 Iesus saith vnto him, Thomas, because thou hast seene mee, thou hast beleeued: blessed are they that haue notseene, and yet haue beleeued.

    John 14 KJV1611
1 Let not your heart be troubled: yee beleeue in God, beleeue also in me.
    John 14

6 Iesus saith vnto him, I am the Way, the Trueth, and the Life: no man commeth vnto the Father but by mee.

    John 14
    (K.J.V. 1611) .
1 Let not your heart be troubled: yee beleeue in God, beleeue also in me.
2 In my Fathers house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would haue told you: I goe to prepare a place foryou.
3 And if I goe and prepare a place for you, I will come againe, and receiue you vnto my selfe, that where I am,there ye may be also.
4 And whither I goe yee know, and the way ye know.
5 Thomas saith vnto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest: and how can we know the way?
6 Iesus saith vnto him, I am the Way, the Trueth, and the Life: no man commeth vnto the Father but by mee.
7 If ye had knowen me, ye should haue knowen my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and haue seene him.
8 Philip sayth vnto him, Lord, shew vs the Father, and it sufficeth vs.
9 Iesus saith vnto him, Haue I bin so long time with you, and yet hast thou not knowen me, Philip? he that hathseene me, hath seene the father, and how sayest thou then, Shew vs the father?
10 Beleeuest thou not that I am in the father, and the father in mee? The words that I speake vnto you, I speaknot of my selfe: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doth the works.
11 Beleeue me that I am in the Father, and the Father in mee: or else beleeue me for the very workes sake.
12 Uerely, verely I say vnto you, he that beleeueth on me, the works that I doe, shall hee doe also, and greaterworkes then these shall he doe, because I goe vnto my Father.
13 And whatsoeuer ye shall aske in my Name, that will I doe, that the Father may be glorified in the Sonne.
14 If ye shall aske any thing in my Name, I will doe it.
15 If ye loue me, keepe my commandements.
16 And I will pray the Father, and hee shall giue you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for euer,
17 Euen the Spirit of trueth, whom the world cannot receiue, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him, for hee dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I wil not leaue you comfortlesse, I will come to you.
19 Yet a litle while, and the world seeth me no more: but ye see me, because I liue, ye shall liue also.
20 At that day ye shall know, that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.
21 He that hath my commandements, and keepeth them, hee it is that loueth me: and he that loueth me shall beloued of my Father, and I will loue him, and will manifest my selfe to him.
22 Iudas saith vnto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thy selfe vnto vs, and not vntothe world?
23 Iesus answered, and saide vnto him, If a man loue mee, he will keepe my wordes: and my Father will loue him,and wee will come vnto him, and make our abode with him.
24 He that loueth mee not, keepeth not my sayings, and the word which you heare, is not mine, but the Fatherswhich sent mee.
25 These things haue I spoken vnto you, being yet present with you.
26 But the Comforter, which is the holy Ghost, whom the Father wil send in my name, he shal teach you al things,& bring al things to your remembrance, whatsoeuer I haue said vnto you.
27 Peace I leaue with you, my peace I giue vnto you, not as the world giueth, giue I vnto you: let not yourheart bee troubled, neither let it bee afraid.
28 Ye haue heard how I saide vnto you, I goe away, and come againe vnto you. If ye loued mee, yee would reioyce, because I said, I go vnto the Father: for my Father is greater then I.
29 And now I haue told you before it come to passe, that when it is come to passe, ye might beleeue.
30 Heereafter I will not talke much with you: for the prince of this world commeth, and hath nothing in me.
31 But that the world may know that I loue the Father: and as the Father gaue me commandement, euen so I doe:Arise, let vs goe hence.

  24. Also The chapter was John 1 (the scriptures I had posted previously on here. And also Jesus Christ ascended into Heaven after He rose from the dead, a very important event for us to gain Salvation. Total Faith ties it all in. gut wrenching tears flowing Faith in Jesus Christ

    1 Corinthians 15 KJV1611

10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed vpon me, was not in vaine: But Ilaboured more abundantly then they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me:
11 Therefore, whether it were I or they, so we preach, aud so ye beleeued.
12 Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you, that there is no resurrectionof the dead?
13 But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen.
14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vaine, and your faith is also vaine:
15 Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we haue testified of God, that he raised vp Christ:whom hee raised not vp, if so bee that the dead rise not.
16 For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised.
17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vaine, ye are yet in your sinnes.
18 Then they also which are fallen asleepe in Christ, are perished.
19 If in this life only we haue hope in Christ, wee are of all men most miserable.
20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that slept.
21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
22 For as in Adam all die, euen so in Christ shall all be made aliue.
23 But euery man in his owne order. Christ the first fruits, afterward they that are Christs, at his comming.
24 Then commeth the end, when he shall haue deliuered vp the kingdome to God euen the Father, when he shall haueput downe all rule, and all authority and power.
25 For he must reigne, till hee hath put all enemies vnder his feete.
26 The last enemie that shall be destroyed, is death.

  25. Something that I believe is missing is the Fear of the Lord. Many place the material in front of them so, this blinds their view to see Jesus Christ. It is all about Faith, giving our whole self to Jesus to guide us, and becoming reborn so we can have Eternal life in the Kingdome of Heaven through His Salvation.

    Proverbs 1:7 KJV
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
    Psalm 111:10 KJV
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.
    Proverbs 9:10 KJV
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

    • hi,

Am a Roman Catholic, in chennai.TN, India.

Dont ever never read the Roman catholic bible Version….

      Many false things written

      Read the KJV(King James Version).
      And I will put enmity
      between you and the woman,
      and between your offspring[a] and hers;
HE(JESUS CHRIST) will crush[b] your head,
and you will strike his heel.”

      BUT here,

      http://www.7dolors.com/page7rosary.htm

      (Genesis 3:15)

“I will put emnities between thee and the woman,
and thy seed and her seed:
      she(Mary) shall crush thy head,
and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel.”

What a most blunder here taken place where more innocent catholic people reading this Roman catholic Bible.

WAKE UP ROMAN CATHOLIC SEEK THE REAL PROMISE AND TRUE

  26. The Douay-Rheims Version was published in 1609. The KJV in 1611. If you compare the two versions they are almost mere carbon copies of each other. The KJV was even published with the Apocrypha. The Apocrypha was removed because it contradicted the teachings of the Old Testament and there was no light in them. So to say which bible is better, I cannot answer that question. However there are new translations that cannot be relied upon… NIV, The Jerusalem Bible, NKJV, Living Bible, The Good News Bible, New American Standard Bible and many others. These are counterfeits. The only most accurate bible translation is the DRV and KJV.

    • The Douay-Rheims version and the KJV do not have anything in common. Actually they read entirely different and there are alot of verses added to the rheims in the old testament even in the apocrypha. By the way the apocrypha was never accepted by the true Christians, and it was not cannonised even before the KJV was translated. Because they were not cannonised in 120 AD like all the others were, they took it out of the KJV knowing in advance it didn’t belong. I do agree with you though the KJV is the word of God in English, it is the perfect word of God. But it was never a catholic translation, it was always a translation of the Church, having puritans and other true believers take part in it. King James authorizing it for use in all local assemblies. Read the translators dedicatory to King James and to the reader if you have any doubts of this. It is written there plain as day.

      • The Catholic Church is still the only church that traces its history back to the times of the Apostles.

        • “The Catholic Church is still the only church that traces its history back to the Apostles!” The ,’Church,’ is not to be identified with Rome

True enough, but the Anglican Church is probably the oldest European branch,or Community, within that Church! Therefore the KJV., is a Catholic Version.

The ,’Church,’ is not to be identified with Rome, because as we know it now the Roman Church had its provenance at the Council of Trent!

        • That is not possible, if you read history. Jesus started the church with the calling out of His disciples (various accounts throughout the Gospels–Matthew, Thomas, Simon (Peter) and Andrew, James and John, et al). He then added to the Church on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2). You must go back farther than Peter to see the real Rock. Mt. 16:18 refers to Jesus as the Rock–Only Jesus could possibly withstand all the force of “the gates of Hell”; no human could. To say, “Thou art Peter, and upon this rock will I build…” indicates a change of vision, of who is being spoken about, doesn’t it? Look at it with honest reading skills, not through the lenses of what one may have been taught.

Consider these thoughts: 1) Who made the only sacrifice that God accepted as atonement for man’s sin? (Jesus, with His sinless blood) 2) Who suffered the torments of Hell so that He could identify with man’s suffering? (Jesus) 3) Who lives in Heaven making intercession between God and man? (Jesus–see 1 Timothy 2:5). You don’t see Peter or any other Bible characters as the answers to these questions, not in the Bible–DR OR KJV or any other.

When you understand the answers to these questions, you’ll know which “Bible” you should be reading. God promised to reveal Himself (“the Truth”–John 14:6) to anyone who would seek Him with their whole heart. Try Him.

        • Sorry, but you’ve been misinformed. The Catholic religion didn’t begin until the 300’s a.d. Christ started the 1& only true Church, & is the head of it. He being the most high should surely know more than any of us, & w/his power is & capable of & will have the last word. He taught against many things the Catholic religion practices. I’ll take my chances & follow Christ rather than a man-the pope. Christ is between God & I. Though I esteem the pope more than myself, I in no way consider him my pathway to God, Christ, or heaven. To do so is pure stupidity as the most High commands us not to. Please stop teaching false doctrines & hypocrisies. You’re not only damning youself, but are directing others down the same road.

  27. As to the problems in translation of the word of God or the conflict as to which is the actual word of God or not? As one who is a Christian First and see all who believe in Christ and His teachings. Judgment as to wrong or right will be with him and not with any of us! The Douray was written several years before the KJV versions. Now there are a few more books in the Douray and if it is older than it may have some wisdom not found in other versions. We are Christians first and as a Christian I am to love each and everyone of you which ever version you read! So just keep reading and learn to live by what Chirst taught!

  28. Psalms 83:18 god’s name is jehovah 🙂

  29. As it reads in most versions of the Bible the Catholism and its Bible was here first published 70 years before KJV were! So based upon EARTHLY TIME It WAS Here First!

iAs I was taught from my birth, We Are Ch!ristians First, and Not To Buff ourselves up Before God! When Jesus returns we are not to be caught dealing with this world’s stuff! As many ordained persons do. Much of what you interpret is from human heads and not from God. The Bible is the word of God and not to follow such word may it be from the Catholic or the KJV is an error that I am certain the master of evil relishes! So why do so many want to bring up what the devil loves! To argue over such is not what I feel God wants of His children! As a child of God I with all humility chose to unconditionally love all and not concern myself over the vanity of this world. I suggest readers remember what we were taught, Seek Ye First the Kingdom of Heaven! OH that’s in most versions including the CHRISTIAN CATHOIIC VERSON AND HAS MUCH IN COMMON WITH ALLS UNDERSTANDNG OF THE WORD OF GOD!!! If I am in error God will correct me as well as those who may disagree with me! I know what I know and that is that Jesus died for my errors and if I repent these days of tribulatilons will be shortened that is all we should concern ourselves over and remember. the Golden rule also in common with all versions of the world of God! Love thy neighbor as ye do yourselves! How much love does your posting give to your brothers and sisters? What you think of me is not important but what God thinks of all is!

    • Yes, one of many different catholic versions were translated before 1611, of course though, when one was done does not make it the most accurate. Also concerning the roman catholics stand on scripture, I am hoping you remember that they forbade someone like you from ever reading the bible back during the time you are referring to. the KJV was translated to be read. And it was translated from the pure manuscipts of the original languages, the catholic versions were translations from translations. And yes we are to love our enemy and one another. But we are not to be tolerant of idolitry, or any other sin. Also, the Lord Jesus died and shed his blood for your sins, not your errors. Sin is the problem, error is in all of us, but we are to learn, study and strive to have knowledge, we are not to just get along with error. When we find error we are to correct ourselves. When we see it in others we are to gently help them, not just let them go their way. We rid our beam so we can pluck the mote. Love covers the multitude of sin, thank God, but we are to be a holy people. It does not please God when we are just accepting of all who claim Christ but live contrary to it. The word is the first, last and only guide, not history and tradition. Follow the pure word of God and you will do well.

  30. M Catholic, wow it seems like many people really enjoy bashing Catholics. Well for me it shows how many people are so ignorant. I won’t explain myself of being Catholic, question I’ll ask u all is, Don’t we believe there is ONE true God, don’t we believe that Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary, don’t we believe that Jesus was crucified, died and was buried on the third day he rose again? Honestly I don’t care whether ur Religion is better than mine what I know Jesus never said people who go to Heaven are the one with most members so bash Catholics everyday if u want, but Jesus teaches us about love and forgiveness, well unless the KJV teaches some other teaching’s of Jesus

    • Hello Thato,

Firstly, I do beleive it is important to love, as we are commanded to. But, there are things that Roman Catholics do that is clearly contrary to and against what the Lord commanded His church to do and not to do. One of the big ones is praying to saints, angels, and Mary. We are to pray to the Father in heaven not anyone else. Also making Mary the queen of heaven is blasphemous. She was chosen to be the earthly mother of the Lord, but she was not sinless, nor was she ever said to be born perfect. She said to Martha ” my God my Saviour” when referring to the Lord Jesus Christ in her womb and how God chose her to be the mother Luke 1:48. She was speaking of the blessing to be so appointed and that God’s mercy was given to her. Also she said that God was her saviour, if she was perfect she would nopt need saved. In Hebrews it speaks as the Lord being like after the order of melchesideck, how he has no earthly father and no heavenly mother, and that he has no beginning or end of days. But Mary is never referred to as greater than any other woman except in regards to her being the mother of Jesus and she had favor in God’s eyes. In the book of revelation the roman catholics say that the woman being spoke of in chapter 12 is referring to Mary as the queen of heaven, but in actuality it is referring to the promise given to Eve and then to the Jews, and how satan fell and tried to overthrow God’s chosen people and so on. It is amazing how you say we are the same, but yet you do not believe anything like we do. I do not go to an earthly man to ask forgiveness, especially because he is a sinner also. I go strait to the Saviour my God and confess and he gives me strength to repent. Salvation is of the Lord, not man. And finally I know I may be wasting my time telling you this, but, God’s messenger and ambassader on earth is not the pope, it is the Holy Ghost filled Church. The Pope is not God on earth and he certainly is not infallible. The word of God is the final authority not the pope and church tradition. Romism is one of many enemies to the true church on the earth. Salvation is by grace not by religion. Be ye born from above. Repent and cry upon the name that is above all names, the Lord Jesus Christ.

      • Catholics ask for the Saints intercession. Read the book of Macabees where it was a part of jewish faith to plead from intercession to Holy persons and that also included peoplel not living in this world. This is followed by the Catholic faith, Orthodox and Coptic church.

With 2000 years , the early Apostles and all the churches established by the Apostles gave especial place to Our Lady. The synod of church farthers from 1AD and the church councils had venerated and honored our lady.

The interpretation of the Holy scripture is with the ‘Teaching authority of the Church’ ” The Magesterium”. The Apostolic faith has all this criteriea.

The problem with protestant church, with everyone has the freedom to interpret the Bible as he wants. Futher, No man on earth can establish a church, Only Christ can do so, and he rightly did , 2000 years ago when he established the Catholic Church, with ST. PETER ( and His sucessors The Bishops who are sucessors of the Apostles). Per Se the protestant churches are not recognised as churches by the catholic church, they are no more than a heresy against the apostolic faith and tradition, which the church guards for 2000 years.

        • Christianity began with the Catholic Church. Catholic means universal-all. Then some Christians became disillusioned and disagreed with the power of the Church being held by one leader, the Pope. They separated from the Catholic Church and formed the Protestant religions, such as Lutherans from Martin Luther who nailed his 95 theses on the door of the Church, starting the Reformation because he disagreed with the position of the Pope’s edicts. He strongly disagreed with the practice of selling indulgences and formed his own church. Baptists, Episcopalians, Methodists, are some of the off-shoots of the Catholic Church. This is history and has nothing to do with the bias of the author. It is surprising how little believers know of the origins of their faith and how hateful church people can be.

      • Hello, Respected Pastorshane.

i’v read your answers to Thato, thereby i found you to be a good Bible reader.
sir, what i want everybody is that they should read Bible by loving, understanding,by pray-way method & by living it. i would suggest try to read the bible thoroughly. its a blunder mistake by christian brothers, they just pick up some particular verses and began to argue with others. A Catholic christian is not a pure catholic if he denies/hate a protestant brothers,non-christians & even his own enemies.only to do is to love, help and forgive everyone as we love ourselves as commanded by Jesus.thus salvation comes not by faith only.

What catholics belief are as follows in contrast to other denominations:-
        a) We don’t consider our lady, saints & angels to be god but extends our regard/respect to them & honestly ask them to pray for humankind.
b)if you read the revelation(ch;12) thoroughly,it also says clearly that the woman given crown with garland of 12stars would give birth the one(jesus) who would rule the Earth. hence it clearly representing Our lady not eve.
        c) Pope or priest have no powers to forgive other sins initially but by command that given by jesus makes it possible to remit others sins.what actually had jesus commanded regarding this? He said to his desciples to go to end of earth preaching gospel, baptising and forgiving everyone in the name father, son & the holy spirit. further he added that everyone whom we(desciples) forgive he too will be forgiven otherwise, he too would deny the denied. thus forgiving sacrament in catholic doesn’t contradict christ teaching rather fulfills his command, thus salvation to believers.

if you really want to know the truth, read the bible deeper.specially catholic Bible i would recommend because, these days lot of bible versions available in the market may not trustworthy.
*plz don’t stick to few verses to negate the entire bible!
*plz do research to disprove catholic biblicaly, not historically it would easier for you.then you will become more catholic if you are a true believer.
i feel fortunate when there is some one to correct me so, you are most welcome.
may god guide us to full truth, because it sets us free!
may god bless you and me!

      • @pastorshane
Why do so many, who are not Catholic, believe that Catholics pray to saints, angels, etc. Who teaches y’all that? That is absolutely false. Jesus’ Mother, Mary, the saints, and the angels are holy and we ask for their intercession. I have friends of all faiths and on occasion, one of them asks me to pray for them—does that now put me in that “category”? No, I don’t think it does but they are asking me to ask God, on their behalf, if it be God’s will, to give them the favor they are desiring.

I am Catholic and I am 70 years old. In all of my years, I have never gone to Mass and heard one of our priests speak badly about any religion or anyone’s faith. I have friends and relatives who mention really ugly and hurtful things that their pastors tell them in their church services about the Catholic faith. I think, and if you do some research you’ll find that to be true, that the Catholic faith is one of the most generous organizations in the world—–education, hospitals, charities, etc. We also pray for everyone and try to help anyone in need. Do some research on how many meals our St. Vincent de Paul Society serves each year and how many homeless individuals they house and you don’t have to be Catholic to get that help.

We just need to stop all the “my religion is better than yours” and do what God wants us to do and that is to do His will and love and care for each other.

May God bless you and yours in the new year and may we all have a kind thought and a kind word for all His people.

Please excuse my typos– they are for entertainment purposes only.

        • PASTORSHANE said, “but she was not sinless, nor was she ever said to be born perfect.” I’m thinking God would have created the most perfect, special, sinless woman to be His Son, Jesus’, Mother. I just can’t imagine a woman who had sinned or was not perfect being chosen to be Jesus’ Mother. Evidently you are not realizing the fact that she gave birth to the Savior of the World—that is some kind of special.
PASTORSHANE said “Also she said that God was her saviour, if she was perfect she would nopt need saved.” Jesus is the Savior of all people and she was one of His. I kind of understand why my non Catholic friends say some of the things they say. They are repeating the not so nice things they are learning from their pastors in their worship services. Do y’all teach from the Bible or do you just discount what Catholics believe? I also don’t believe she had other children—it was the custom to call cousins and relatives brother. Check out 1 Chron. 6:18-26—Herman and Asaph were referred to as “brothers” but do the research—they weren’t. At the cross, Jesus put Mary in John’s care, why would he have done that had He had brothers?
Also, when Jesus performed His first miracle, who was it that asked Him to do that? Yep, it was His Mom and did He do it, yes, He did—remember, that was at the Wedding Feast at Cana—- and the water He blessed turned into wine that was so much better than the one first served that comments were made they had held the best wine for later. Do you kind of get it now why we Catholics might ask Mary to ask Jesus to grant our wish if it be His will? If one of your friends wanted a favor from you would you be more apt to comply if he asked your Mom to ask you?
PASTORSHANE said, “It is amazing how you say we are the same, but yet you do not believe anything like we do. I do not go to an earthly man to ask forgiveness, especially because he is a sinner also. I go strait to the Saviour my God and confess and he gives me strength to repent. Salvation is of the Lord, not man. And finally I know I may be wasting my time telling you this, but, God’s messenger and ambassader on earth is not the pope, it is the Holy Ghost filled Church.”
Check out Jn. 20:23”Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.” Those who ask why we need men to forgive sins should direct their question to Jesus who clearly desired his followers to forgive sins.
2 Cor. 5:18, Mt. !8:18, Mt 16:19, and many more.
Catholics are to follow the Ten Commandments. We are taught that when we marry, it is a lifetime commitment because what God blesses let no man separate yet divorce and remarriage seems to be okay in Protestant churches. 1 Cor.7:10-11, Mt. 19:3-9, Mt. 10:2-12
If a man divorces his wife or if the wife divorces her husband and marries another, they commit adultery.
If it’s a bad marriage you don’t have to stay and be abused but the bible says you commit adultery if you remarry.
I think we are the same as people, God’s children, but after reading some of the unkind words you say about Jesus’ Mother and Catholic teachings which come from the Bible, I’m really happy I go to a church that teaches the truth and is not unkind to other faiths. Maybe one day I will go to a service of another faith to see if they all think as you do. May God especially bless you and may you speak kind words about my faith. I know y’all use your bibles in your services but I was taught that before we read or study the bible we are supposed to pray for guidance and for us to receive the message from that passage that is meant for us. If you are telling your congregation these things are you not imposing your misguided thoughts on them?

  31. Something tells me that PASTORSHANE would be the kind of man who would have thrived during the Inquisition.

  32. May God bless you all!!!

I am a human first, then a Christian and I believe in Jesus Christ. Read as much as possible and get the knowledge, then decide yourself with the help of God, what you want in life.

Please stop arguing; use your precious time for learning things.

No Church will save you, it is Jesus who saves you!!! so look upto him and live your life.

  33. Praise the lord our god amen

  34. All I have to say is some people need to go back to High School or even middle school history classes. It does not matter what religion you believe in the history is still there to back this.

As a result of Augustine’s mission, the church in England became an integral part of the Roman Catholic Church and acknowledged the authority of the Pope. Initially prompted by a dispute over the annulment of the marriage of Henry VIII to Catherine of Aragon, the Church of England separated from the Roman Catholic Church in 1534 and became the established church by an Act of Parliament in the Act of Supremacy, beginning a series of events known as the English Reformation.

So it is obvious which came first and there is plenty of other history about this but I will let you all do your own research on that.

The most annoying thing to me is people talking about something that they obviously have not even done the research on or do not know what they are even talking about.

    • Sarah?’ if you go back in history, you will find that when Gregory sent Augustine, he was breaking the rules of the Catholic Church, indeed a rule stemming from probably the most important event after the death of the last apostle. At the Council of Niceae a Canon was passed stating ,roughly,no bishop shall have any business in another see without permission. Neither Gregory nor Augustine had permission from the Primate of the British Bishops, Bishop of Caerleon, to work in Britain. When Augustine arrived in Britain he was met by a Gallic Bishop who was Chaplain to the Queen of that area, he was also given the use of two British Churches, one of which eventually became Canterbury Cathedral.
Eventually he called a meeting to implement further the Pope’s plan for Britain and he was rebuffed by the British Bishops and a statement was read, from the Abbot of Bangor Iscoed, that the British Bishops paid all due respect , as a Catholic , to the Bishop of Rome and indeed to all other Bishops, but their duty was to their own Primus, Caerleon.
Many years after Britain suffered an outbreak of war between Pagans & Christians. The Roman Mission was wiped out and its two remaining bishops fled to the Continent taking their clergy with them, never more to return. Britain was re-Christianised by the old clergy helped by Scots a
nd Irish Prelates. Augustine was a failure. Later after the Council of Whitby the Church in Britain took on Continental ways, certainly the Western Calendar and later became more integrated with the Europeans, but never came under the Bishop of Rome. They acknowledged him as Primate of the West, but this was an administrative post which he shared with the Bishop of Constantinople as Primate of the East.

The Church in England did not separate from the Roman Church in 1534, it was the Bishop of Rome who broke communion with Henry . Not till 157o did the Romans break with the English Church and this was an attempt to enforce the tenets of the New Church of Trent, as John Evelyn , the diarist called it.

As for ,”Establishing the Church in England”. The Church was established by Constantine in about 312 A.D. It had never been disestablished and all Henry did was to put it on the statute book re-enforcing the legality of it. It also remained established in the North Of Italy where the pope was also monarch as well as pontiff.

The base line of the Reformation in England was the action referred to above regarding the authority of the Bishop of Rome. For 1500 years, near enough, authority within the Catholic Church was Christ’s Revelation, recorded in Scripture and interpreted, explained and completed by the Early Fathers in the Seven Ecumenical Councils of the Undivided Church! Over the years the ancient canons had been challenged by the Western Primate, Rome! The Eastern Church had been forced in to separation and the traditionalists had challenged the pope’s actions by the General Councils of the Western Church. They won in a struggle lasting some 300 years and 4 or 5, Councils later. Popes were put in prison, or deposed and one even fled. The trouble was that the Church had no military force at its disposal and the European monarchs refused to challenge on e of their own. So the status quo remained. What the Church in England did was, with the consent of the Monarch, to enforce the ancient Niceaen canons of the Catholic Church! This is why the Pope broke Communion with Henry and later tried to cause a Civil War and bring about foreign invasions in England by trying to enforce the Canons of the New Council of Trent.

  35. Firstly, The Vulgate , is the best available version of the sacred scripture. From the 4 AD it has been used within the Roman Catholic Church. I presume its also used by the Greek Orthodox Church.

Secondly, the Protestant Bibles, though God knows how many protestant denominations exist in this world. For them making a church is as easy as making a new group of friends. Further, Man can not establish a church.

Further, Catholics in particular are not allowed to use the Protestant Bible. ” There can be only one but only one truth”. The catholic faith with 2000 years old roots and church founded by Jesus, Son of God is the rightfull protector of faith and this is same when it comes to the sacred scripture.

    • To those who feel that Christianity is the one true religion, I say that this is the usual response from those of European ancestry or those who have swallowed the propaganda of all things white and therefore true and beautiful. Aboriginals, native peoples(they are individuals of color including American Indians despite being represented as white as all people end up as on TV) had their various religions and beliefs. Who are you to claim particular and exclusive knowledge of the truth? One fairy tale is as good as another. Native beliefs and religions were here when time began so long before Christianity was even thought of ; before Man first ventured forth from the African plains where history and human life began. Capital M in man because he had a name, whatever that name was, and whatever it was that sparked the initiative to venture forth away from the homeland. The fairy tale of Adam and Eve shames your first ancestors and belies the African maternal RNA that infuses your blood and is present to this day in your progeny, your children who bear the mark. Out of Africa was a beautiful black woman burnished by the sun, chosen to bear the sons and daughters of man, and even though she will be maligned, whipped, denied, and scarred, and made invisible by those to whom she gave birth, hope still rises that one day she will take her rightful place above the gods. Until the lion tells his tale, the hunt will always glorify the hunter.

  36. KJV was an improved traslation into english from a Greek/Hebrew text. The catolic bible was a traslation from the Vulgata and was corrected from arabic and castillian text, edited in Rome and subject to many exercises in interpretation.

Both books tell basically the same story plus/minus gramatical errors.
The bible originated not from the words of Jesus but from a selection of works and traditions compiled by the earlies church by which they choose for books as gospels, discarded other gospels and declared them heresy; dowgraded other books to epistoles and bound the whole thing into a large roll for aproval of a Synod. The whole thing is: christianity was nothing more than a jewish plot to destroy the roman empire and by conversion take over its institutions.

They took advantage of the lack of electricity to convince everyone that the night was full of bad spirits and that only angels can fight demons. The rest as they say is history.

  37. somewhere deep inside, the truth lies by the corner and much has been done to keep speculators abbey…… the very quest to dig this deep shows that a lot of us are not satisfied with what we are having now and the possibility of a treason is a positive gues

  38. The bible is nothing more than the world’s oldest fantasy novel.

  39. Preposterous!
“The KJV was translated or written with the use of the most original manuscripts in Hebrew and Greek. The problem with the translating process at that time was that the translators were mostly pure Englishmen, with limited knowledge of Hebrew.”–The translators of the Authorized Version were the top notch of the day, and would show modern “scholars” a thing or two about the translation process. Nothing can compare.

  40. The Latin Vulgate is St. Jerome’s work (342-420) but what this article fails to include is that St. Jerome (who was a “towering linguist) had access to original manuscripts in Latin, Greek and Hebrew that were lost/burned when the Roman empire fell. He was 1500 years closer to the original languages than any scholar today which would make him a much better judge of the exact meaning of the ancient Hebrew, or Greek. He tried for a careful word for word translation of the original texts in Latin.

The KJV has some books missing from the Bible. King James was the person who requested this Bible to be translated and he made the final decision what books and texts were included. Was King James a linguist in Latin, Greek and Hebrew? Who has the authority to change or omit sections of God’s Words? If my faith were based on the Bible alone, I would want this Latin Vulgate Bible that has all the Biblical texts in it!

The Latin Vulgate Bible has been declared by Pope Pius XII in a 1943 encyclical letter, Divino Afflante Spiritu, the Latin Vulgate is “free from any error whatsoever in matters of faith and morals.”

How do I know that is the truth? The pope cannot make any error when it comes to proclamations of faith or he won’t live to make a wrong proclamation. This has happened to popes in the past. Popes are usually very holy men but they are also only human. God makes sure that they do not lead his people astray. Jesus Christ said, “Thou art Peter and upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And behold I am with you all days ever to the consumation of the world.”

    • Catholic Bibles are missing books accepted by Greek Orthodox, like 3rd and 4th Macabees (Catholic Bibles only include 1st and 2nd Macabees). The KJV, when it came out in 1611, included the Roman Catholic Apocyrpha, meaning all the same books included in Catholic Bibles today that are not in Protestant Bibles. Except the KJV also included 3rd Ezra (2nd Esdras) and the Prayer of Manasee from the Vulgate Appendix which the modern Catholic Bibles don’t even bother to include! So the KJV, when you have one with the Apocrypha, like a 1611 Facsimile edition, is actually MORE COMPLETE than ANY Roman Catholic Bible.

In the same way, the Protestant “NRSV with Apocrypha” is more complete than the “NRSV Catholic Edition.” Because the “NRSV Catholic Edition” leaves out Prayer of Manase, Psalm 151, 3rd Ezra, 3rd and 4th Macabees, whereas the Protestant “NRSV with Apocrypha” includes all the apocrypha accepted either by the Roman Catholic church or the Greek Orthodox church.

  41. ok so
    A. the KJV (AKA AV) translators numbered 54
    B. learned how to read, write, and speak: classical greek from youth and could fluently speak Hebrew by the time they were called to translate the KJV
    C. the KJV is not the same as a catholic bible or any other modern translation as it is EXCLUSIVELY translated from a text group called the textus receptus (IE received text) all modern/catholic translations come from the Alexandrian text group. the Alexandrian text group’s main documents are the sinaiticus, vaticanus, and the alexandrianus.
    D. the received text they used is word for word the same as 99% of all of the THOUSANDS of ancient manuscripts.
    E. none of the Alexandrian texts agree perfectly
    F. the NKJV was translated from the Alexandrian documents using the KJV as a guide.
    G. things that are different are not the same for example in luke 2:33 is joseph Jesus’ father? or the husband of mary? if Jesus was “born of a virgin” Joseph is ONLY the husband of mary and not Jesus’ father
G2. if Joseph is Jesus’ father then lets put down our bibles and go watch tv because then Jesus is NOT God the Son nor is He the Savior.
    H. the KJV has over and over been shown to be the most accurate if not the perfect translation(I hold to the latter thought)

for better information about the KJV vs the catholic bibles I suggest the video series “whats the big deal about the KJV” by sam Gipp as a starting point.

    • I’m not going to start a huge debate about why the KJV is inaccurate, but there is one point you make that is so terribly incorrect that I could not let it pass. You say that St. Joseph cannot be called the father of Jesus because he was not biologically Jesus’s father. The FACT of the matter is St. Joseph was Jesus’s father in all ways but biology. He took upon himself all of the duties of a father. He taught, provided for, and protected Jesus. He dropped everything and went into Egypt, a place hostile to the Jews, to keep Jesus safe from King Herod. If that’s not fatherhood, I don’t know what is. As any adoptee will tell you, biology has very little to do with true fatherhood.

  42. The point is to have a relationship with Jesus Christ.. to follow Him and trust in Him. Whether you are protestant or catholic, it is all about the Lord Father. I find denomination talk to be quite nasty at times.. God commands us to Love one another.. to be kind, tenderhearted.. to show Christ’s love to others. Anything that detracts from that is like the tree that bears no fruit — so.. forget about who/what is wrong/right.. and focus on the ONE – Almighty God.

  43. If the Bible is a message from the God, it must be fully accurate and authentic to believe and follow.

Notwithstanding None of the Catholics the Protestants versions of Bibles are accurate and do not have similar contents.

I don’t know why Cock and Bull stories are added in to it by humans.

If something is inaccurate and adulterated how one could believe and follow them after all Religion is a belief.

  44. Please read and compare Exodus chapter 20.
This is the section which presents the Ten Commandments.
The Catholic Bible had removed the 4th commandment (the Sabbath Day) and split another commandment in two for making 10 commandments.
For me this is the main difference.

    • RD, your assertions are misleading and deceiving. All Catholic version Bible has Ex. 20:8 “keep holy the sabbath day”. Perhaps what you mean is when we chose to worship on Sunday over Saturday loool. That’s because of the long tradition of the Apostles to worship God on the “First Day” of the week which coincides with our present “Sunday”. If you think that that’s unbiblical, check again all Catholic Bibles such as NAB, Jerusalem Bible, Daoay-Rheims, all Bible that has “Imprimi Potest” and “Imprimatur” in its introduction. Guaranteed to be Catholic book…. God bless you.

      • Hello Catholic Defender.
You are right. It is not the Bible modified but how the Catechism “translate” it to people. The people believe the Catechism not the Bible.

The Catechism said that worshiping the statues of the saints is not interdicted in the first commandment (which in fact is the second commandment).
So the 3rd commandment became the 2nd in Catechism an so on, being inevitable that the last commandment to be split in 2 and the total numbers of the commandments became back 10.

        About the Sabbath/Sunday.
There are about 3 places in The New Testament which say that Apostles were meet on Sunday and we ignore many more mentions about their weekly habit to meet on Sabbath in nature or Synagogue.
Where is the “long tradition of the Apostles”? One time they meet Sunday because they brought aids (clothes, food) to send to other people and 2 times they keep preaching and worshiping after the Sabbath finished on sunset and the Sunday began (as said on Genesis – it was evening and after that morning).

I prefer to stand for what Bible said not the tradition (protestant, catholic, orthodox or whatever).

In the Revelation book it is said that the redeemed people will come to the Throne of God every Sabbath and every new Moon for worship. Wouldn’t be better if we worship on Sabbath here on earth if this event will continue to happen in Heaven? This is another prove that Sabbath commandment is still valid no matter what the clerics said.

Meet you in Heaven on the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

        • The Catechism said that worshiping the statues of the saints is not interdicted in the first commandment (which in fact is the second commandment).

Again, please do not inject to us your own ignorance of the Catechism. Nowhere in the CCC says that “we worship” statues. That line has long been answered by great apologists and yet you still believe Catholics do worship stones.

FYI the Catechism is NOT a replacement of the Holy Book. It was the summary of what Christians believed EVEN BEFORE THE BIBLE (380AD). The Church existed years before the compilation of the Bible. Just as any community exist before formulating its own constitution.

Please do not ignore also the fact that without the Catholic Church there is no bible you in the Protestant world could quote chapters and verse… and the chapters? It’s a Catholic thing.

Why not try to be fair with your comments?

          • I agree. Just please advise me on what bible to purchase. I too grew up in catholic school. Baptized.communion.confirmed. People make it too confusing. Can u please advise me on what bible to purchase.? God be with you!

  45. The differences between the King James Bible and the Catholic Bible are

    1. Catholic Bibles are approved by the Roman Catholic Church

    2. Catholic Bibles include the Deuterocanonical books (Tobit, Judith, Esther 10:4-16:24, Wisdom, Sirach, Baruch, Daniel 3:24-90, Daniel 13-14, 1 Maccabees, and 2 Maccabees)

  46. I’m a 74-yr Roman Catholic with an honest appreciation of all religions of the world no matter how and when they came into being because I honest believe THEIR selfish opinions and subsequent comments ABOVE are missing the boat?
I believe there is (1) only one true God for all religions, (2) Jesus Christ is the Son of God and his life and teachings gives us the best way to achieve everlasting life in heaven when we depart this life, and, (3) all religions of the world, if practiced nobly by believers and non-believers alike, will still secure a place for themselves in heaven if they admit right from wrong, are good and honorable persons trying their best to follow the teachings of Jesus of love for their fellow men, and women, regardless whatever Bible they profess is better than the other…after all, does it really matter when you should be considering, more importantly, the salvation of your immortal soul? All Bibles tell the way….take the advice.

  47. Who wrote this article? I do not see a byline. This article contains no information on the fundamental differences between the two texts. Sadly, readers have dissolved into arguing about whose Bible is correct. What does it matter which Bible you read or which church you belong to? Saved is saved. Period.
Arguing about whose church is best is just stupidity. Work out your own salvation and stop worrying about what others believe. All I’m seeing here is a bunch of Christians fighting about what they believe. I’m beginning to wonder if that wasn’t the intended purpose of this very odd article.

  48. @ Gene E. Bruey – [(2) Jesus Christ is the Son of God]

Position of Jesus (peace be on him) in Islam:

    (i) Islam is the only non-Christian faith, which makes it an article of faith to believe in Jesus (pbuh). No Muslim is a Muslim if he does not believe in Jesus (pbuh).

(ii) We believe that he was one of the mightiest Messengers of Allah (swt).

(iii) We believe that he was born miraculously, without any male intervention, which many modern day Christians do not believe.

(iv) We believe he was the Messiah translated Christ (pbuh).

    (v) We believe that he gave life to the dead with God’s permission.

(iv) We believe that he healed those born blind, and the lepers with God’s permission.

II CONCEPT OF GOD IN CHRISTIANITY:

    1. Jesus Christ (pbuh) never claimed Divinity

One may ask, if both Muslims and Christians love and respect Jesus (pbuh), where exactly is the parting of ways? The major difference between Islam and Christianity is the Christians’ insistence on the supposed divinity of Christ (pbuh). A study of the Christian scriptures reveals that Jesus (pbuh) never claimed divinity. In fact there is not a single unequivocal statement in the entire Bible where Jesus (pbuh) himself says, “I am God” or where he says, “worship me”. In fact the Bible contains statements attributed to Jesus (pbuh) in which he preached quite the contrary. The following statements in the Bible are attributed to Jesus Christ (pbuh):

    (i) “My Father is greater than I.”
    [The Bible, John 14:28]

(ii) “My Father is greater than all.”
    [The Bible, John 10:29]

(iii) “…I cast out devils by the Spirit of God….”
    [The Bible, Mathew 12:28]

(iv) “…I with the finger of God cast out devils….”
    [The Bible, Luke 11:20]

    (v) “I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not my own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.”
    [The Bible, John 5:30]

    2. The Mission of Jesus Christ (pbuh) – to Fulfill the Law

Jesus (pbuh) never claimed divinity for himself. He clearly announced the nature of his mission. Jesus (pbuh) was sent by God to confirm the previous Judaic law. This is clearly evident in the following statements attributed to Jesus (pbuh) in the Gospel of Mathew:

“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the Prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

“Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven; but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”

“For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.”
    [The Bible, Mathew 5:17-20]

    3. God Sent Jesus’ (pbuh)

The Bible mentions the prophetic nature of Jesus (pbuh) mission in the following verses:

    (i) “… and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.”
    [The Bible, John 14:24]

(ii) “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou has sent.”
    [The Bible, John 17:3]

    4. Jesus Refuted even the Remotest Suggestion of his Divinity

Consider the following incident mentioned in the Bible:
“And behold, one came and said unto him, ‘Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?’

And he said unto him, ‘Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.’ ”
    [The Bible, Mathew 19:16-17]

Jesus (pbuh) did not say that to have the eternal life of paradise, man should believe in him as Almighty God or worship him as God, or believe that Jesus (pbuh) would die for his sins. On the contrary he said that the path to salvation was through keeping the commandments. It is indeed striking to note the difference between the words of Jesus Christ (pbuh) and the Christian dogma of salvation through the sacrifice of Jesus (pbuh).

    5. Jesus (pbuh) of Nazareth – a Man Approved of God

The following statement from the Bible supports the Islamic belief that Jesus (pbuh) was a prophet of God.

“Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know.”
    [The Bible, Acts 2:22]

    6. The First Commandment is that God is One

The Bible does not support the Christian belief in trinity at all. One of the scribes once asked Jesus (pbuh) as to which was the first commandment of all, to which Jesus (pbuh) merely repeated what Moses (pbuh) had said earlier:

“Shama Israelu Adonai Ila Hayno Adonai Ikhad.”

This is a Hebrew quotation, which means:

“Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord.”
    [The Bible, Mark 12:29]

It is striking that the basic teachings of the Church such as Trinity and vicarious atonement find no mention in the Bible. In fact, various verses of the Bible point to Jesus’ (pbuh) actual mission, which was to fulfill the law revealed to Prophet Moses (pbuh). Indeed Jesus (pbuh) rejected any suggestions that attributed divinity to him, and explained his miracles as the power of the One True God.

Jesus (pbuh) thus reiterated the message of monotheism that was given by all earlier prophets of Almighty God.

NOTE: All quotations of the Bible are taken from the King James Version.

III CONCEPT OF GOD IN OLD TESTAMENT:

    1. God is One

The following verse from the book of Deuteronomy contains an exhortation from Moses (pbuh):

“Shama Israelu Adonai Ila Hayno Adna Ikhad”.
It is a Hebrew quotation which means:
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord”
    [The Bible, Deuteronomy 6:4]

    2. Unity of God in the Book of Isaiah

The following verses are from the Book of Isaiah:

    (i) “I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour.”
    [The Bible, Isaiah 43:11]

(ii) “I am Lord, and there is none else, there is no God besides me.”
    [The Bible, Isaiah 45:5]

(iii) “I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me.”
    [The Bible, Isaiah 46:9]

    3. Old Testament condemns idol worship

    (i) Old Testament condemns idol worship in the following verses:

“Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”

“Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:”

“Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God.”
    [The Bible, Exodus 20:3-5]

(ii) A similar message is repeated in the book of Deuteronomy:

“Thou shalt have none other gods before me.”

“Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that in the earth beneath, or that is in the water beneath the earth.”

“Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them; for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God.”
    [The Bible, Deuteronomy 5:7-9]

    • A scholar I am not.a Christian I am An orthodox christian.I am. a catholic (for your edification) is a christian also.I ask you to make this obvious.

    • @Dr. Saleem Siddiqi
All good info but you forgot to make mention of any verse the average Christian believes Jesus is claiming divity. Being there with God in the begining, the only way to the Father, etc. Although Catholisism is a form of Christianity, the only point that mainstream Christians and Catholics seem to agree on is that Jesus is the son of God, with all other points debatable. Without refuting what others call evidence you can not prove what you believe to be correct. For example, explain why the begining of Genesis speaks of God in plural form as we or us. I look forward to any more information and thoughts you provide. Thank you. =)

      • @jess
God used “we or us” because God has three head 1st is God the father 2nd is God the holy spirit and 3rd is God the Son but they are count as one.. example if you are in your work they called you sir and in your home they called you by your name and your son called you dad. but you are one..

  51. Leading up to King James version, the catholic bible/church, based in Rome, was as much about spreading/holding onto Rome’s power as it was about religion.
The Catholic Bible was written in Latin. Very few English understood latin. England getting a King James “English version” of the Bible & going ‘Protestant’ was as much about breaking Rome’s power over England as it was in removing the Catholic hierarchy, who had amazing amount of wealth, power & control and, often challenged the authority of England’s Kings & Queens.
King James was giving the Catholic church & Rome – the boot.

The Original Bible was written in “old Hebrew” which was mostly a verbal language as very few people could read or write back then.
The Muslims destroyed all known copies of it and all other non-muslim teachings when they conquered Jerusalem & a lot of the Middle East.
So everything in the Bible has been a matter of “interpretation” by each author since then.

    • @shogun “The Muslims destroyed all known copies of it and all other non-muslim teachings when they conquered Jerusalem & a lot of the Middle East.”

What proof do you have for the above accusations as nothing concrete available in the history books to prove your claim.

      • it is insane how no scholar who walks this earth denies the existence of Jesus Christ, his birth from a VIRGIN, his death on the cross (that’s when he forgave you as he was dying that’s why the cross is so important and only god and his son has the power to forgive and satan and his servants will never forgive someone neither will satan blame himself and become humble and accept the truth but he has deceived this world), Jesus resurrection and ascendance its been documented multiple times the scriptures shall not be broken people just deny it or don’t believe it well you don’t and won’t have an excuse on judgment day its not my fault you lived your whole life according to your own will and not gods and denied the scriptures im only 22 so you may be smarter no doubt but im much wiser DR y’all are the one who causes death to flee from us surley the hospitals were not of gods will but they were clearly prophesied and may god have mercy on you

        • if so then how could the KJV say how the EARTH HANGS ON NOTHING in that void of space? WE proved it thousands of years before the so called “great” astronomers and such said even to the point that WE WERE FLAT and that it didnt exist in the possiblity of us being on a round earth and no handing on anything (until issac newton came along)

  52. If you are talking about what made the first element, nothing did. The very truth is that the universe is full of hydrogen, but it is postulated that the Big Bang is the reason for the presence of elements other than Hydrogen. If you then trace the theories of science, the next step of life is nuclear reactions that includes fusion and fission. And thus Helium is created. The formation of other elements came from similar processes. Either from high energy bombardment or by high pressure, a by product of gravitational force. The first life is likely to be prokaryotes, forming the first proto-plant organisms. Which lead to fishes, amphibians, reptiles (dinosaurs), mammals, and then human. The question of whether the chicken or the egg come first, one can say via the scientific theories of evolution that dinosaurs were the first proto-birds, and since archaeological evidence supports that the earliest lifeforms are from eggs, the logical deduction is that before the existence of the chicken, there is already the existence of eggs.

If the Biblical flood did occur, are we not from the same bloodline then? By the theories proved by science, if one were to commit in-breeding e.g look at the last Tsar of Russia, then we would all share the same genetic material and would have all died.

Scientific evidence have long proven that humans only came after nearly millions of years. How does then creationism prove the existence of dinosaurs?

Science is the only constant, it is the only truth. For one to disregard the words of science, it is folly.

    • If somebody still believe in the Theory of Evolution. Here is a simple modern question’s for you to ask yourself.

      1. Is there evolution still going on our earth?
      2. Why did the evolution stoped?
      3. Name some of the humen that had evolved from Ape or monkey in the mid of 17th to 20th century?

  53. The KJV is NOT a distributed Catholic version because A.They hate it and if it is wrong then why did it mostly comply with the dead sea scrolls found over 3 centuries later? this shows a big gap and the way you propose this it is in a light where the catholic are always right

  54. also read in revalation 22:18 and 19 in the KJV

  55. OMG!!! I was just reading a few of the comments. The original question was what is the difference between the KJV and Catholic bible. I would like to buy a bible, I am catholic but the catholic version of psalm 23 leaves me feeling cheated. Years ago an orthodox priest who studied the different bibles told a group that the Peshitta is the best and most accurate bible to read. So much is lost in translation. “The general, consensus among Bible scholars is that the Old Testament of the Peshitta was translated into Syriac from the Hebrew, probably in the 2nd century AD, and that the New Testament of the Peshitta was translated from the Greek.” That doesn’t really answer my question. What is the difference between the catholic vs KJV’s bibles? I’ll just buy the Peshetta in large print if I can find one.

  56. no offence guys but if ur a catholic, christian, muslim, jew and or whatever religion u have. its doesnt matter. u dont need religion to knw whats right and not whos good and evil. just believe in ur self and do what is right! treat people the way u wanna be treated. appreciete and love all things even those little things in this game we call life. and ur set.

  57. I believe we need to pray for each other. Jesus definitely wouldn’t want us fighting over him but he would want our love for him grow within us no matter what book we read or what prayers we say. In that way we will learn to love each other.
In the end, God and God alone will judge us.

    Lord God,
I believe, I adore, I hope and I love you. I pray and ask forgiveness for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope and do not love you.
    Amen.

  58. What is the problem???
You or believe and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour or you reject him.
The Bible you choose to read is irrelevant.
What is relevant however, is whether Jesus will accept you on the day you come face to face with Him.
The choice is yours. I pray that regardless of your Bible choice, you chose JESUS. HE IS THE TRUTH-THE LIFE and THE WAY. Be Blessed.

  59. THE SCIENTIFIC POINT OF VIEW ON THE QUESTION “IS THERE A GOD ?” SEARCH THE VIDEO “JOHN HAGELIN,PHYSIC AND CONSCIOUSNESS”…..

  60. Thanks to Cristina and Lady Penelope above for bringing a little clarity to this ill-tempered discussion, most of which has nothing to do with the OP – the article is about the differences between two translations: it is not a defence of one strand or another of doctrine. If you want to have that fight, go elsewhere.

There are some mistakes in the original post.

    1. The OP says the Great Bible and the Bishops’ Bible were the “first two English predecessors” of the. King James or Authorized Bible. In fact the principal predecessors were Wycliff and Tyndale, whose beautiful translation had a lot of influence over the Authorized Bible. The King James version largely drew on Tyndale – and on the Geneva Bible, which itself was based on Tyndale, as well as the Coverdale and Matthews Bibles; it suffers in parts from an over-dependence on the Vulgate rather than earlier Greek, Aramaic or Hebrew versions. The Great bible is much better than the Bishops’ Bible, and is based largely on the Geneva Bible but uses more elaborate language as it was intended for reading aloud in church. The Bishop’s Bible was also heavily dependent on the Vulgate, and on the Great Bible, and is not at all a satisfactory translation; while it was specified as the primary text for the Authorized version, the translators were given a lot of freedom – and in fact Wikipedia remarks that the Douay-Rheims Bible New Testament may have had an influence. King James objected to the Geneva Bible and its notes on various textual grounds, which he felt assailed his (or his mother’s) standing, hence the request for a new version.

    2. The OP says of the King James Bible: “the translators were mostly pure Englishmen, with limited knowledge of Hebrew”: this is misleading (and I am not clear why their nationality or lack of miscegenation – itself a dubious concept should be an issue). At least two of the three groups charged with translating the Old Testament included Regius professors of Hebrew, those charged with looking at the Latin include some of the most distinguished classical scholars of the day (though there were also one or two odd choices). Yes, there are by modern standards (and even some standards of the day) errors of translation, but by no means on the scale suggested by the OP, but it is a fine and elegant achievement (though personally I prefer Tyndale in large part).

    3. The OP says “ the scholars who were tasked by the king to do the translation [sc. of the King James Bible] asked for little or no help from anyone in translating the Catholic Bible”. This has several errors: there was often wide consultation – and indeed the groups each of eight or so scholars who translated the separate parts were themselves learned. And they were not translating “the Catholic Bible” in the sense in which commentators have assumed, i.e. they were not translating just the Douay-Rheims or even just the Vulgate (for centuries the Roman Catholic authorized version). Although I remarked above that the King James Bible translators were at times over-dependent on the Vulgate, they also used Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek sources.
