Music has its own varied types and genres. Different people will have their own preferences when it comes to music. Rock music is one of the major types that is popular among the younger generation. Here, we will take a look at two of the more varied rock music genre. Here are the differences between emo and metalera.
Metalera, metal-era or heavy metal developed from the late 1960s to early 1970s. It is known for its thick massive sound with highly amplified distortion, extended guitar solos, emphatic beats and overall loudness. The instruments often used include electric guitar, bass guitar, drums and keyboard.

Metalera represents a great deal of masculinity and machismo, especially if you scrutinize the lyrics and the style of this type of music. Critics regarded metalera’s subject as simple and universal. The music encourages party without limits ‘“ using very loud and distorted sounds. Metalera fans became known as metal heads or headbangers.
On the other hand, emo originated in the mid-1980s and broke into the mainstream during the early part of the year 2000. It was known as ’emotional hardcore or emocore’, and later on was reduced to simply emo. The music is characterized by melodic musicianship and expressive, often confessional lyrics.

The instruments often used includes guitar, bass guitar and drum kits. Critics of emo notice that songwriters for emo often show one-sided victims of heartbreak, with the men venting their fury to the women who break their heart. The music is regarded to be gender biased since it exhibits phobia in women. Most of the songs simply show sentiments without allowing the women to respond or to even show relationship build-up in the end.
Whether it is emo or metalera, the core of the two will still be rock music. Although both are popular with the younger generation, people around the world are gaining interest with the changes in the music field especially in rock music. More and more people, whether old or young, are slowly opening their doors with the evolution of different types of music ‘“ emo and metalera included.
