EK is basically a chassis code, and the different numbers 4 and 9 refer to the different models. Although EK 4 and EK 9 may look similar, there are differences between the two.

When comparing the two chassis, the EK 4 is equipped with a b16a DOHC VTEC engine, and the EK 9 comes with a b16b DOHC VTEC engine. Well, another difference that can be seen is that the EK 9 comes in a Type R badge.

When looking at the nuts that hold the wheels, the EK 4 has with four nuts, whereas the EK 9 comes with five nuts.

Unlike the EK 4, the EK 9 boasts of a seam-welded chassis, and stiff bars behind the bumpers. When comparing the socks and springs, the EK 9 comes with better shocks and springs than the EK 4.
