Nearly one quarter of the world’s population follows the religion that was revealed to the Prophet Mohammed and subsequently transcribed into the Quran. Despite its number of faithful followers that have now settled across the globe, many Westerners don’t have a clear idea of what this religion entails. Subsequently, even incredibly fundamental questions, such as the difference between Islam and Muslim, arise as these same Westerners are beginning to explore their increasingly globalized world. Beyond linguistic distinctions, there is actually very few differences between Islam and Muslim.
Definition of Islam and Muslim
- Islam : the meaning comes from the Arabic verbal noun (like a gerund) s-l-m. When appropriate vowel markers are added the word Islam appears. The etymology of s-l-m is to submit, accept, or surrender. From this comes Islam’s conventional definition of surrender to God.
- Muslim : also has its roots in the s-l-m verb. It is a participle of the verb and refers to a person who engages in the act of submission, acceptance, or surrender. Therefore a Muslim is a person who submits to the will of God, or a follower of Islam.
Uses of Islam and Muslim
- Islam is generally used in conversation to denote the religion or community of believes as a whole. For instance: ‘The Islamic community in town will be celebrating Eid next week.’ It is also used when talking about the religion as a noun unto itself. For instance: ‘Islam is based on the sayings of the Prophet Mohammed that have been written down in the Quran.’
- Muslim is generally used in conversation to qualify or distinguish a person. For instance, ‘Remember the Muslim man who works at the bank?’ It can also be used as a simple description of one’s religious beliefs. For instance: ‘He is Christian but she is Muslim.’ Because Muslims are a minority community in many countries and most of the West, describing someone as Muslim may also reflect on their lifestyle and choice of dress in addition to their religious beliefs.
Misuses of Islam and Muslim
- Islam : grammatically speaking, Islam should only refer to the religion or acts done in the name of that religion, never a person who practices that religion. Islamic community and Islamic art are correct, Islamic man is not.
- Muslim should be used to describe all people of the Islamic faith but not the faith itself. You may say that you are interested in the religion of Muslims, but never in the Muslim religion.

Muslims invaded india and killed millions of innocent hindus and budhists. Some of the muslim kings accepted the gifts of hindus and let them surrender but their religious fundamentalists finally forced them to kill saying “Quran COMMANDS us to KILL non-belivers”. There are other religions out there with more than one God or who find it utterly out of context. All I want to say is, ALL man should be humble when referring to their God(s). Humility does not mean weakness it means respect in knowing you alone have no proof, you are no prophet, you are not above your fellow man. When religious fools quibble, they forget the dangers of the land, for it is not God/Allah/Yhwh/Ahura Mazda/Etc. who will destroy your own physical self, it is you, for when you let hatred, the seed that opposes the Divine force, plant itself into your heart you no longer do things in the name of goodness, you failed to be good and your actions only cut the Earth you toil on leaving dust in the bowls of your children. Does it matter if we see the divine as many or one or see the sheer power of the physical world? No, for that is in the heart a glowing present to warm us and keep us living, what matters is what we do to feed those with no food, disarm and fix our broken pots, and honestly from a White Gay Pagan American studying languages, history, anthropology, and wondering why? The newest disasters made by man originate from the European wanting Sugar, silk, and realizing they can’t trade through land because of the transgressions they’ve made listening to a man in the Vatican who manipulated them. Now, we have an imbalance we must restore back to harmony. This is not the time for scapegoats, this is not the time to show our asses, it is the time for getting shit done. Excuse my language, but Muslim, Christian, Jew, Hindu, Pagan, Buddhist, Atheist, Agnostic, etc. etc., let’s address our problems and how we can fix them like adults. Stop bickering, learn your fellow human’s custom if you wish but don’t hate him because you don’t know where he came from, what do we know about people’s total past experiences. This is the one thing I wish people would do instead of acting like children in a school yard.

You mistook what I was saying if you are responding to me, I dont believe Muslims are evil, some are the same as christians or any faith. What we need to do is leave each other alone and let live. I know that the Christians have invaded your lands and the crusades were wrong on both sides, but mainly Christians because they were occupying your lands. Basically I am trying to say this war will only end with love for one another and respect. Not forgetting the past but learning from it. I do believe that freedom is key and when in Pakistan you are killed for being female and trying to learn that is ignorance, not to say that in the US we arent ignorant because we are. I wish they would actually teach us because it is fear that has kept us where we are. Christians are really the most barbaric throughout history conquering and enslaving for no reason at all. Islam does not teach violence, but the followers (some) believe in dying in the name of allah is an honorable thing to be sought after. They dont teach violence, but it always seems implied when the focus of you life is dying in the name of your religion. :/

The difference in what I read in the “Quran”, verses what I read in the New Testament is, Jesus presented the message and gave the people a choice to receive him. Muhammad’s revelation to the world commands submission or retaliation. Jesus let “the woman at the well” know he knew all about her. He did not stone her or beat her.

Christians have done worse. I’m an atheist and humanitarian and I’m sick of people thinking Muslims are the evils of the world. All major religions have had events/people of the past who have committed awful, hurtful deeds. Muslims are not even one of the sketchiest.

God is love and Islam is hate? I guess you forgot about the hundreds of millions killed by Christians in Gods name during the Crusade.
The nations one day will all bow down to the Creator of this world. When the Christ (Jesus) appears all will recognize him as the Son of the Living God. 2,000 years ago His blood was shed that all men would have a hope. Jesus killed no one and his true followers weren’t send forth to kill either as other religions have been taught to do through their different leaders. There is one Creator God, and one mediator between the Creator and his creation, the lamb of God (Jesus) Jesus, it must be said, rose from the DEAD! A Living Savior for all of mankind!
As in the Jewish tradition, a sacrifice would atone for sin, but they needed to return over and over each year to be forgiven for their transgressions, being only human. When Christ died for the sins of humanity (Only one time for all) – all men were afforded the grace of God, but not all would embrace a Jewish God. Jesus was both God and man, and he will return one more time to claim his own. But few will follow to their own demise.
Many of his own race do not believe in him as their Messiah, how sad.
I think Jewish people think that Messiah will come from Jerusalem, even though the ancient prophecies foretold one to come that would be born in Bethlehem of Judea.
P.S. If someone or a group of zealots kill others in the name of their religion or god, the heart of Creator God is not in them/him; he is on his own!

These comments are limited in scope. They show only the thinking of the past few thousand years. Frederic Engels by his book (based on years of research by respected anthropologists) that humans were not always patriarchal in their societies. God is a recent concept – rooted in only the past 5000 or so years. My simple moral sense tells me that anyone who kills others in the name of God or any “prophet” is a murderer, one who should be punished and shunned.

If I believed in religion which is manmade, I think I would explore VEDANTA since it relates to what I believe although as a Christian I believe Christ is the way to God the Father but am not sure He is the only way for others although that is what is preached in most Christian religions.
I believe in going to the source directly and for me, and possibly only for many Christians, Christ is the only way, but I do not limit God in His way to reach out to all of us.

Since I saw Christ riding in clouds on June 25, 1953 and 45 minutes later
was holding my dying grandpa’s right hand who had not known anyone, not even his wife of some 60 years, for the previous 3 days and only spoke of giant bugs and darkness as he was dying of a brain tumor (the children’s version of my experience can be read at http://godsjoyfulservant.com, ONE CHILD’S MIRACULOUS STORY).
When I took his hand, the energy, light, that was in me ran from my heart, up into my throat, then down my right arm into my right hand and up my grandpa’s right hand and arm into his throat.
He slowly lifted his head off the pillow, opened his eyes slightly, and whispered my name, “Patrick.”
A very difficult experience for a 9 year young boy, and it’s taken me 60 years to realize what it was all about. I have seen and spoken to my grandpa 3 times since his passing and 2 of those experiences were witnessed by other people.
In the last 15 years I suffered for 12 years with cluster migraines which was determined to be a permanent disability and genetic, passing from my grandpa to my mother (who was a carrier but not a sufferer).
In 2009, I misplaced my bottle of Methadone (I was given nearly every known narcotic and opiate to treat the symptoms since no cure was known) and called my pain management team (there’s a real misnomer) explaining what had happened and that I had turned everything upside down and sideways to find them.
I was told pretty much, “Tough luck, you must wait until the next refill date.” And that was that. The next week was the most painful and difficult of my life. I called them again in panic, and that’s when they told me they could call in 2 prescriptions to help ease my withdrawals BUT since you already went through the worst of it, you might not need them.”
Years earlier, 26 years to be exact, my wife went ahead of me to our landlord’s party upstairs and met a young man who she was attracted to but not for the reasons you may first think. When I joined them, I found them in the kitchen; my wife sitting up on the kitchen counter, her legs and feet resting on a kitchen chair, and Lynn, was sitting at the head of the table in a chair. I asked if I could join them not assuming I could and was told, naturally, “Yes.”
Lynn looked very much like my grandpa at an earlier age from pictures of my grandpa I had seen after his passing. Shortly after joining them, Lynn turned and faced me directly and said, “I don’t know where this is coming from, but if you ever need me, I’ll be there for you.”
I looked intently at Lynn telling me he would help me if I ever needed him? That wasn’t something a stranger would tell someone they just met.
Above Lynn’s head, at a 45 degree angle off to his left and between us, I and my wife saw the bust of my grandpa (she also saw him for the first time 2 years before when he came to us in our living room but in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, and we were now in Seattle, Washington).
I turned to his figure and said, “Grandpa, you’ve lived your life here on Earth already, now it’s my turn to live my life as best I can; go rest in peace.”
With that, he was gone.
Back to when I was in my second week of withdrawals from Methadone (I still had some Percocet to use but they weren’t much help).
I got down on my knees and prayed to my grandpa to come back and help me since I was suffering from the same cluster migraines he did. Not sure why I didn’t pray to Christ but I didn’t.
My grandpa came and with him was a ball of yellow-white light.
Soon after that I found myself going through the local yellow pages searching for a Bio-feedback practitioner. I had tried bio-feedback years before without any success
so I thought it was strange I would seek one again.
The first page I turned to had a Quantum Bio-feedback practitioner which I had never heard of before but the lady was offering a 50% discount for new clients so I set up an appointment and went.
After a short interview where I did express why I was there, the same story I wrote about above, she hooked me up with many wires and returned to her desk and her large laptop computer screen. She told me things about myself only I knew.
At the end of our session she told me to look into the Compassion Center because they could sign me up with an Oregon Medical Marijuana card.
I had smoked and eaten marijuana during my hippie days but since I was never a smoker, I found smoking it harder than eating it.
Before I went to a meeting, I looked up cluster migraine treatment online and found a book by a San Diego Doctor who was successfully treating his cluster migraines with pot.
That was enough for me so I went to the Compassion Center (appropriately named) and got signed up. I made chocolate fudge and cut the finished product into 1” X “1 X 1 cubes, and began experimenting to see how much of it I needed to ease the symptoms at least not thinking I would be cured.
By this time I was completely off all narcotics and opiates and only continued with the Amitriptyline for a sleeping aid.
I discovered shortly after starting eating the chocolate fudge that I only needed a 1” X 1” X 1/16th” slice off the 1” X 1 X 1” cube and put it on my tongue to let it dissolve.
Within 9 months I was CURED and have not had to use pot or anything else for cluster migraines since I haven’t had one in over 3 years.
Occasionally, I get a slight headache usually from the stress of multi-tasking (writing an creating kid’s books as well as inventing) which a couple of Tylenol pills quickly stops the headaches.
I learned from my new Neurologist that the pain meds were actually creating rebound migraines/headaches, and when she learned my story, she had me write it up and is giving it to her other patients (I don’t see her anymore) to show that they can get off the pain meds.
In October 2009, I was visited once again by Christ while writing in my studio up river.
I was told to spread the word (I know this sounds like I’m still on narcotics or pot or just plain nuts) to pray for His return. The actual words He used were, “Pray for MY return” and to spread that message.
Now many Christians think that is nuts since only God and not Christ knows the day, the hour, the minute He will return His Son to Earth to make Earth as is in Heaven for at least the first 1000 years, after which the final judgment will be pronounced as the story goes.
But all I can say is judge the message not the messenger. If I were claiming that God or Christ told me to kill a bunch of people or anything so horrendous, then truly you MUST judge the messenger, but pray for Christ’s return?
Those other Christians who say I’m nuts to pray for Christ’s return I often ask, “Then what should I pray to God for, money, good health, etc?
The only other prayer I can think of is to pray to God that His will be done in my life and that is exactly what He has done through His Son, my personal Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus who has come to me to use me for healing others at times in my life, and those times are the most treasured since giving up one’s own will to have the Holy Ghost take over cannot be measured except to say they have been the most joyful moments in my life.

Hey if 1 muslim is a terrorist than I’ll say that he/she doesn’t belong to Islam because Islam itself means ‘Peace’. That terrorist is not a good muslim. Islam never teaches the wrong thing. Furthermore, we can also prove from the character/biography of Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) that he was not a liar as (1) The non-Muslims of his time used to call him al-Amin (the trustworthy) & as-Siddiq (meaning the truthful) and (2) If Prophet Mohammad (God-Forbid) was the author of Qur’an, how come the Qur’an is promoting/elevating other prophets like Adam, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses & Jesus (pbut) instead of himself? Why would Prophet Mohammad say that the mother of Jesus (Virgin Mary (pbuh)) was the chosen woman above all nations? If he was the author, surely he would have chosen his own mother, wife or any Arab woman. Why did he mention a Jewess? (3) He was not after money or fame as he was offered all the wealth of the Arabs at the time & was offered a kingdom on the condition that he abandon his mission to promote Islam. He refused & responded by saying “by Allah, if you place the sun in my right hand & the moon in my left hand, I will never give up this message until I perish therein”. (4) There was a solar Eclipse the day his son (named Ibrahim) died & people were saying look the day is being darkened due to respect for the son of the Prophet but. Instead of using this situation to promote himself or elevate his status with the people he instead said while pointing up to the sky “This is the sun and this is the moon, they’re from the signs of Allah, & they do not rise or set or eclipse for the death or birth of any man, so when you see this, pray to your Lord” & he taught us the prayer of the eclipse.
Are these not the words of a prophet? Amongst many proofs of his prophet hood we have only mentioned 4. Now it’s your choice to accept or reject to worship the One Who sent this Prophet & The One Who created you and the Universe.
Unlike other religions & philosophies Islam is unique because it represents a complete way of life, to the extent that it even teaches its followers how to clean themselves, worship, interact with others & even how (morally) to go to bed, the toilet & other daily activities including sexual relations between husband & wife. All of these things are considered forms of worship because they prevent corruption & allow us to live our lives in a way that pleases our Creator.
If you’re still not convinced of the creation of the world by God but believe in the Big Bang then consider this: the Qur’an says in Surah Anbiya 21:30 that Big Bang did happen (“Do the unbelievers not see, that the heavens & the earth were joined together (as one unit body) & We1 split them asunder”). If you allege that we’re a product of random selection/chance then I suggest you think again as we know that ‘nothing comes from nothing’. If there isn’t a creator then how comes all the galaxies/planets are in such perfect order? Even a small explosion creates chaos, so how can whole galaxies swim smoothly in the Milky-way (orbits) after a HUGE explosion (the Big Bang)?
Do you ever ask yourself the question “who created God”? This is as illogical as asking the question “If Mr. John gave birth to a child, is the child a girl or boy?”. If you’re intelligent, you’ll say “a man (Mr. John) cannot give birth” so the question itself is flawed & illogical. Hence the question “who created God” is similarly illogical, as God is uncreated and He is the Creator. Finally, Islam is not just a religion but a complete way of life..though Qur’an is not a book of science it contains scientific miracles. Everything in the Qur’an is presented in a logical and intelligent manner. Even though it was revealed over 1400 years ago it is a religion for all times & its laws will never become out of date. Ultimately all major religions believe in existence of One God, but due to through the passage of time most of the religious scriptures have been distorted & changed by people for their own benefits. I too wonder what God/Allah thinks about the hatefulness of this human race. We say God/Allah is Love, yet we murder innocent people. We call ourselves followers of God/ Allah, how can a one submit to God/ Allah with pure hate in their heart?
The old testament is a story of rebellion, with countless pages describing hatred and sin. Human beings are fair weather followers/submitters with fickle hearts and minds. Although I am not that familiar with the teachings of the Qur’an, I believe God loves us. (I’m guessing that the Qur’an says the same about Allah also loving his followers/submitters.) God asked us to cleanse ourselves of our sin, (I’m guessing Allah asks the same of his followers/submitters) God provided a way to cleanse ourselves through repentance, and ultimately a final sacrifice. (Jesus on the cross) We are imperfect beings, full of judgmental thoughts and sinful actions.
In the name of our God or Country we hate those who threaten our beliefs. Why do we do such things? The United States of America was founded on the belief that all are created equal and all can practice their beliefs openly without the threat of punishment. So then why do we desire to stand in judgement? Freedom of speech does not equal ugly hateful slurs.
Peace, walking in peace, striving for peace requires an open heart, a desire to understand. I may not believe the same things that my Muslim brothers and sisters believe, but I must remind myself that I am not God/Allah. I am not called to be Judge, Jury and executioner. If we really want peace we must becomes partners in peace. Unfortunately, too many human beings are so full of anger that their hatred prevents them from seeking peace.
If as individuals we could look into our own hearts, see the ugliness inside us before we project it onto others, if we could strive to fix what’s broken in our own lives rather than point the finger at someone else, perhaps we might begin to understand how to bring lasting change, meanfuling change. (I guess it’s just easier to assume we are right, and spend the rest of our lives arguing to prove that point)

Organized religions are not organized by God. Otherwise there would only be one instead of thirt-five thousand. Organized religions are formed around one man’s perception of God and his ability to convince others into a mass perception of his beliefs. The truth is that every single one of us has a very personal perception of God, which organized religions have a tendency to suppress. There is an EVIL loose in this world. I am a Christian (Follower of JesusChrist) of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Other Christians claim us to be Cultists. We make covenants with God. Where we separate in practice of religion is that we do these things in the Name of Jesus Christ whom we claim is our Savior. We claim that our authority comes from Jesus and it is Jesus Christ who is the head of our church and religion and has re-established his church in these latter days. Facing the brunt of other christian critics, I am sympathetic to the tactics used against those of the Islamic Faith. I really believe that 90% of the conflict lies in the misunderstanding of cultural influences of religion. The world is divided into many religions which in fact are stronger borders than lines drawn on the map. All of us are convinced that our religion is the only true religion and in promoting our convictions we tend to disregard our OWN rules to justify acts of war and violence. Our Religions then are exposed as not having the integrity whereas in reality it is the few bad people that spoil it all for everyone else. For example, the USA constitution clearly states that there should be the freedom of religion However, how many times has this been totally disregarded especially in the case against the members of my religion. Each act against us was somewhere justified. We survived and now are very strong. I think it is time that we all evaluate ourselves in where we stand. We should learn to live together in this world and learn to forgive regardless of how painful it is. The very truth is this: People are not forced to beleive one thing or another. They may pretend this to preserve their own life but a religous conviction comes from within and not a force exerted upon them. If what you practice is your belief, then practice it, if it is not your belief, then search for it.

LDS is short for Latter-day Saint whereas Saint in this sense is indicative a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mormon is not a negative stigma as much as you would like it to be. Mormon was a great prophet in the americas who was a decendant of Lehi whom was commanded by God to Leave Israel before it was destroyed. He took a group of people and plates of brass and sailed to Americas to establish a God Fearing People. I see the truth bothers you and my point was that in the cloak of freedom of religion that there has been great infractions in said freedoms. Search deeply and analyse is there really freedom of religion and freedom of approved religions in society. Complaining is hardly part of our make up as “mormon” people. Despite all of the mob killings, burnings ,illegal expulsions not one has been brought to justice because the blood of the innocent will come to testify against the guilty. I live within 2 blocks from a mosque in either direction of my house here in the Philippines. I wonder if that could be possible in the States.
For being discovered so recently in comparison to other relics(1827 by J. Smith), where are these copper plates you speak of? No pictures? No location? These supposed plates are younger than this very young country, yet there is no evidence of them accept for the writings of a single discoverer..,sounds like the Sasquatch and U.F.O. witnesses or the discoverers of sacred items that seem to “disappear.”. “mormon” has no stigma? I think you should go out into the world, ask the public to talk about a “random” word, Mormon, and see what they say….I think you should look up the definition of stigma.
Islam; The Rational Faith: Despite Islam having so much misconceptions & yet more people from various backgrounds embrace it! This is because when people from various faiths & Atheists as well as prominent scientists read Qur’an or its logical answers to every question & doubts, there remain very minor hesitations in being honest with oneself that this is The Truth & makes sense
Any rational person with scientific knowledge will come to the conclusion that (unlike normal religious scriptures) Qur’an never contradicts or conflicts with modern established science & logic…There are numerous scientific miracles mentioned in the Qur’an which have only recently been discovered by modern science. This is a book revealed 1400 years ago to a unlettered man (prophet Mohammad, peace be upon him) who could neither read nor write.
The Qur’an has recorded such amazing scientific information that many elite scientists & Atheists have embraced Islam. Some prominent examples include Professor Keith Moore, Dr Maurice Bucaille, Dr. Jeffrey Lang, Dr.Hormoz PhD, Physicist & Scientist Omar Dexter, Dr. Laurence Brown, and others (full list available on request or check them on http://www.youtube.com ). Islam means submission to the Will of Al-Mighty God (Allah-One God Alone). Islam does not mean Mohammedanism & Muslims are not Mohammedans because he who worships Prophet Mohammad has left the fold of Islam. Prophet Mohammad is not the founder of Islam but he is the Last Messenger & Final Prophet of God {thus his teachings should be followed until the end of time}. Muslims are not allowed to worship anyone or anything other than God-Al-Mighty alone, not Mohammad, Jesus, Moses (peace be upon them) or any other beings. However Muslims do love & respect all these prophets & messengers but do not worship them nor call upon them in need or in prayer. This is Islam, the pure, rational & the ONLY truly monotheistic faith which does not liken the Creator to His 1 creation. Some people allege that prophet Mohammad copied from their religious books regarding the scientific verses but they fail to realise that had this been the case, why then is there not a single scientific error in the Qur’an? Given that these other religious texts contain numerous scientific errors, how could Mohammad (pbuh) have known which parts were scientifically accurate and which were not? Thus these allegations are illogical! In fact God admonishes their false claims in the following Qur’anic verse 2:79 ” Woe to those who write the book with their own hands, and then say: This is form Allah, to traffic with it a miserable price! Woe to them for what their hands do write and woe to them for what they earn!”
Furthermore, we can also prove from the character/biography of Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) that he was not a liar as (1) The non-Muslims of his time used to call him al-Amin (the trustworthy) & as-Siddiq (meaning the truthful) and (2) If Prophet Mohammad (God-Forbid) was the author of Qur’an, how come the Qur’an is promoting/elevating other prophets like Adam, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses & Jesus (pbut) instead of himself? Why would Prophet Mohammad say that the mother of Jesus (Virgin Mary (pbuh)) was the chosen woman above all nations? If he was the author, surely he would have chosen his own mother, wife or any Arab woman. Why did he mention a Jewess? (3) He was not after money or fame as he was offered all the wealth of the Arabs at the time & was offered a kingdom on the condition that he abandons his mission to promote Islam. He refused & responded by saying “by Allah, if you place the sun in my right hand & the moon in my left hand, I will never give up this message until I perish therein”. (4) There was a solar Eclipse the day his son (named Ibrahim) died & people were saying look the day is being darkened due to respect for the son of the Prophet but. Instead of using this situation to promote himself or elevate his status with the people he instead said while pointing up to the sky “This is the sun and this is the moon, they’re from the signs of Allah, & they do not rise or set or eclipse for the death or birth of any man, so when you see this, pray to your Lord” & he taught us the prayer of the eclipse.
Are these not the words of a prophet? Amongst many proofs of his prophet hood we have only mentioned 4. Now it’s your choice to accept or reject to worship the One Who sent this Prophet & The One Who created you and the Universe.
Unlike other religions & philosophies Islam is unique because it represents a complete way of life, to the extent that it even teaches its followers how to clean themselves, worship, interact with others & even how (morally) to go to bed, the toilet & other daily activities including sexual relations between husband & wife. All of these things are considered forms of worship because they prevent corruption & allow us to live our lives in a way that pleases our Creator.
If you’re still not convinced of the creation of the world by God but believe in the Big Bang then consider this: the Qur’an says in Surah Anbiya 21:30 that Big Bang did happen (“Do the unbelievers not see, that the heavens & the earth were joined together (as one unit body) and We1 split them asunder”). If you allege that we’re a product of random selection/chance then I suggest you think again as we know that ‘nothing comes from nothing’. If there isn’t a Creator then how comes all the galaxies/planets are in such perfect order? Even a small explosion creates chaos, so how can whole galaxies swim smoothly in the Milky-way (orbits) after a HUGE explosion (the Big Bang)?
Do you ever ask yourself the question “who created God”? This is as illogical as asking the question “If Mr. John gave birth to a child, is the child a girl or boy?”. If you’re intelligent, you’ll say “a man (Mr. John) cannot give birth” so the question itself is flawed & illogical. Hence the question “who created God” is similarly illogical, as God is uncreated and He is the Creator. Finally, Islam is not just a religion but a complete way of life..though Qur’an is not a book of science it contains scientific miracles. Everything in the Qur’an is presented in a logical and intelligent manner. Even though it was revealed over 1400 years ago it is a religion for all times & its laws will never become out of date. A religion for all times & all peoples, The Universal Faith.

For those Philosophers who deny Allah/God-Almighty (after clear proofs have been given to them) we have the following response: “According to you there’s no God due to a lack of testable evidence. You reason that if you don’t see, hear or smell God then He doesn’t exist. However I don’t see, hear or smell your brain, so does this mean that you don’t have a brain?”
To become a Muslim one should make the following declaration of faith (preferable before 2 witnesses): “There is no god worthy of worship but Allah and Mohammad is His Final prophet & the Last Messenger of Allah.

Conclusion: Ultimately all major religions believe in existence of One God, but due to through the passage of time most of the religious scriptures have been distorted & changed by people for their own benefits. The creed of many religions has thus been distorted from monotheism to pantheism or polytheism due to distortion & corrupting the message of worshiping One God Alone! …Furthermore, We can also conclude from Buddhist scriptures that Buddha never claimed divinity either but people seem to love to worship the creation than the Creator…The Glorious Qur’an urges Muslims to preach but not force their religion on anybody: “Say: O people of the Book! Come to common terms as between us and you: That we worship none but Allah (God); that we associate no partners with Him; That we raise not among ourselves, lords and patrons other than Allah! If they turn back, say; ‘you bear witness that we are Muslims (meaning we bow to the Will of God)”: Qur’an 3:64

III, 76: “There will arise in the world a Buddha named Maitreya ( benevolent one, an enlightened one, endowed with wisdom in conduct, auspicious:” What he has realised by the knowledge he will publish to this universe. He will preach his religion, glorious in its origin, glorious at its climax, glorious at the goal, in the spirit and the letter. He will proclaim a religious life, wholly perfect and thoroughly pure; even as I now preach my religion and a like life do proclaim. He will keep up the society of monks numbering many thousands, even as now I keep up a society of monks numbering many hundreds” Gospel of Buddha Carus pg. 217…
Zoroastrianism/Parsiism: Zend Avesta Farvardin Yasht chapter 28 verse 129 (Sacred Books of the East, volume 23, Zend Avesta Part II pg. 220): “Whose name will be the Victorious, Soeshyant and whose name will be Astvat-ereta. He will be Soeshyant (The Beneficent one) because he will benefit the whole bodily world. He will be Astvat-ereta (he who makes the people, bodily creatures rise up) This Prophecy applies to no other person more perfectly than to Muhammad (pbuh): The Prophet was not only victorious at Fatah Makkah but was also merciful when he let go the blood thirsty opponents by saying: “There shall be no reproof against you this day”.Soeshyant means the ‘praised one’ (refer Hasting’s Encyclopedia), which translated in Arabic means Muhammad (pbuh). & in Zamyad Yasht 16 : 95
Judaism: Almighty God speaks to Moses in Book of Deuteronomy chapter 18 verse 18: “I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and I will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.” Book of Deuteronomy chapter 18:19 “And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not harken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.” Muhammad (pbuh) is prophesied in the Book of Isaiah. Song of Solomon Page 1155:Chapter V, Verse 16: Hikko mamittakim we kullo ‘Mohammadim’, zehdoodeh wa zehraee bayna Jarusalem” This Hebrew text has been translated as “His mouth is most sweet, yea: he is altogether lovely (in actual fact it’s Mohammad). This is my beloved, and this is my Friend, O daughters of Jerusalem”
NB: More similarities include; Hinduism & Christianity religious scriptures also prescribes veil for females to cover their head & to wear modest clothing (loose-fit & not tight-fit nor see trough or skin color nor half sleeves) “RigVeda:8 Hymn:33 V19 & more & I Timothy 2:9, I Corinthians 11:3-10, Mathew 2:28, . Things have to be practical i.e. one who claims to love God but does not follow His apostles’ claims are flawed & as illogical as one who works in a company but never plays a role in any task, will the boss keep him or kick him out of the job for just sitting around & no intention to work there? We are Not being ordered by God-Almighty to worship Moses, Jesus, Mohammad, (peace be upon them), any saints or any other beings but God Alone, none besides God & none along with God, but God-Alone, direct without intermediaries but via teachings of His Last Prophet & Final Messenger Mohammad (may peace be upon him) thus it’s only logical that we should choose to beseech God instead of His creation, hence the word ‘Islam’ meaning ‘submission to God’ & Muslim is ‘one who has submitted to God’)… thus all religions don’t lead to same goal as normally religions are named after its founders, places & people but Islam does not mean Mohammadanism as one who worships Mohammad leaves Islam..

This Great sacred being called Buddha had a continued wish,will and a practice of goodwill to become a Buddha through many uncountable lives. (not only when borne as human). That’s why those extremely good qualities appear in such a human born but a “Beyond God” personality. Buddhas are incomparable to any such man made Gods.

Because u have secular followers, it’s the truth? None of the religions can really be “proven” but they can be found to have positive influences on peoples lives, thus making them true…it really doesn’t matter what the truth is anyways…because most of the sheep of the world just want something to believe in and follow, regardless of truth. If you do “A”, “B” will result, demonstrates truth but stories about gods and what not CANNOT be proven…it takes FAITH. Most prominent religions have truth in their teachings.

Most religions are based on books claimed by their followers to be divinely inspired, without any proof. Islam is different because it is based upon reason and proof.
There are clear signs that the book of Islam, the Quran, is the word of God and we have many reasons to support this claim:
There are scientific and historical facts found in the Quran which were unknown to the people at the time, and have only been discovered recently by contempory science.
The Quran is in a unique style of language that cannot be replicated, this is known as the ‘Inimitability of the Quran.’
There are predictions made in the Quran and by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) which have come to be pass.
This article lays out and explains the scientific facts that are found in the Quran, centuries before they were ‘discovered’ in contemporary science. It is important to note that the Quran is not a book of science but a book of ‘signs’. These signs are there for people to recognise God’s existence and affirm His revelation. As we know, science sometimes takes a ‘U-turn’ where what once scientifically correct is false a few years later. In this article only established scientific facts are considered, not just theories or hypothesis.
Scientific Facts in the Quran
The Quran was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the 7th century.
Science at the time was primitive, there were no telescopes, microscopes or anything even close to the technology we have today. People believed that the sun orbited the earth and that the sky was held up by big pillars at the corners of a flat earth. Within this backdrop the Quran was revealed, and it contains many scientific facts on topics ranging from astronomy to biology, geology to sociology.
Some people may claim that the Quran was changed as new scientific facts were discovered but this cannot be the case because it is a historically documented fact that the Quran is preserved in its original language [2]. The Quran was written down and memorised by people during the lifetime of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). One of the copies of the Quran which was written a few years after the death of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is preserved in a museum in Uzbekistan. This copy is over 1400 years old and is exactly the same as the Arabic Quran that we have today[3].
The following are nine scientific facts found in the Quran:
1. Origin of Life
Water is essential for all living things. We all know that water is vital to life but the Quran makes a very unusual claim:
We made every living thing from water? Will they not believe? [21:30]
In this verse water is pointed out as the origin of all life. All living things are made of cells. We now know that cells are mostly made up of water [4]. For example, 80% of the cytoplasm (basic cell material) of a standard animal cell is described as water in biology textbooks.
The fact that living things consist mostly of water was discovered only after the invention of the microscope. In the deserts of Arabia, the last thing someone would have guessed is that all life came from water.
2. Iron
Iron is not natural to the earth. It did not form on the earth but came down to earth from outer space. This may sound strange but it’s true. Scientists have found that billions of years ago the earth was stuck by meteorites. These meteorites were carrying Iron from distant stars which had exploded [5].
The Quran says the following on the origin of Iron:
We sent down Iron with its great inherent strength and its many benefits for humankind [57:25]
God uses the words ‘sent down’ for Iron. It is clear from the verse that Iron is not an earthly material, but was sent down for the benefit of humanity. The fact that Iron came down to earth from outer space, is something which could not be known by the primitive science of the 7th century.
3. Sky’s Protection
The sky plays a crucial role in protecting the earth. The sky protects the earth from the lethal rays of the sun. If the sky did not exist then the sun’s radiation would have killed off all life on earth. It also acts like a blanket wrapped around the earth, to protect it from the freezing cold of space. The temperature just above the sky is approximately -270oC. If this temperature was to reach earth then the planet would freeze over instantly. The sky also protects life on earth by warming the surface through heat retention (greenhouse effect), and reducing temperature extremes between day and night [6]. These are some of the many protective functions of the sky.
The Quran asks us to consider the sky in the following verse:
We made the sky a protective ceiling. And yet they are turning away from Our signs! [21:32]
The Quran points to the sky’s protection as a sign of God. The protective properties of the sky were discovered by scientific research conducted in the 20th century.
4.Mountains
The Quran draws our attention to a very important characteristic of mountains:
Did We not make the earth a resting place? And the mountains as stakes? [78:6-7]
The Quran indicates that mountains have deep roots by using the word stakes to describe them. In fact mountains do have deep roots [7], and the word stakes is an accurate description for them. A book titled ‘Earth’ by Geophysicist Frank Press explains that mountains are like stakes, and are buried deep under the surface of the earth [8].Mount Everest (pictured below), the height of which is approximately 9 km above ground, has a root deeper than 125 km.
The fact that mountains have deep ‘stake’ like roots was not known, until after the development of the theory of plate tectonics in the beginning of the 20th century [9].
5. Expansion of the Universe
At a time when the science of Astronomy was still primitive, the expansion of the universe was described in Quran:
And it is We who have built the Universe with [Our creative] power and keep expanding it. [51:47]
The fact that the universe is expanding was discovered in the last century. The physicist Stephen Hawking in his book ‘A Brief History of Time’ writes, “The discovery that the universe is expanding was one of the great intellectual revolutions of the 20th century.”[10].
The Quran mentioned the expansion of the universe even before the invention of the telescope!
6. Sun’s Orbit
In 1512 the astronomer Nicholas Copernicus put forward his theory that the Sun is motionless at the centre of the solar system, and that the planets revolve around it. The belief that the Sun is stationary was widespread amongst astronomers until the 20th century. It is now a well-established scientific fact that the Sun is not stationary, but is moving in an orbit around the centre of our Milky Way galaxy [11].
The Quran mentions the orbit of the Sun:
It is He who created night and day, the Sun and the Moon, each floating in its orbit. [21:33]
The Quran would have been wrong according to astronomers just a couple of decades ago. But we now know that the Quranic account of the Sun’s motion is consistent with modern Astronomy.
7. The Ocean
The Quran uses imagery to covey its deep meanings, here it describes the state of the unbelievers as:
Darkness out in a deep ocean which is covered by waves, above which are waves, above which are clouds, layers of darkness, one upon the other. When one puts out his hand [therein], he can hardly see it. Those God gives no light to, they have no light. [24:40]
It is commonly thought that waves only occur on the surface of the ocean. However oceanographers have discovered that there are internal waves that take place below the surface of the ocean. These waves are invisible to the human eye, and can only be detected by specialist equipment [12]. The Quran mentions darkness in a deep ocean above which are waves, above which are waves, then clouds above that. This description is not only remarkable because it describes the internal waves in the ocean, but also because it describes darkness deep in the ocean. A human being can dive no more than 70 metres without breathing equipment. Light is present at that depth, but if we go down 1000 metres it is completely dark [13]. 1400 years ago there were no submarines or specialist equipment to discover internal waves or the darkness deep inside the oceans.
8. Lying and Movement
There was a cruel oppressive tribal leader named Abu Jahl who lived during the time of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). God revealed a verse of the Quran to warn him:
No Indeed! If he does not stop, We will seize him by the forehead, his lying, sinful forehead. [96:15-16]
God does not call this person a liar, but calls his forehead (the front part of the brain) ‘lying’ and ‘sinful’, and warns him to stop.
This verse is significant for two reasons. The first is that the front part of our brain is responsible for voluntary movement [14] .This is known as the frontal lobe. A book titled ‘Essentials of Anatomy and Physiology’ which includes the results of research on the functions of this area states: The motivation and the foresight to plan and initiate movements occur in the anterior portion of the frontal lobes, the prefrontal area [15]. The part of the brain that is responsible for movement is said to be seized if the man does not stop.
Secondly, numerous studies have shown that this same region (frontal lobe) is responsible for the lying function of the brain [16].One such study at the University of Pennsylvania in which volunteers were asked questions during a computerized interrogation, it was found that when the volunteers were lying there was significantly increased activity in the prefrontal and premotor cortices (frontal lobe region) [17].
The front part of the brain is responsible for movement and lying. The Quran links movement and lying to this area. These functions of the frontal lobe were discovered with medical imaging equipment which was developed in the 20th century.
9. Pain Receptors
For a long time it was thought that the sense of feeling and pain was dependent on the brain. However it has been discovered that there are pain receptors present in the skin [18]. Without these pain receptors, a person would not be able to feel pain.
Consider the following verse on pain:
We shall send those who reject Our revelations to the (Hell) Fire. When their skins have been burned away, We shall replace them with new ones so that they may continue to feel the pain: God is Almighty, All-Wise. [4:56]
God tells the people who reject his message that when they are in Hell and their skins are burnt off (so they can’t feel any pain), he will give them new skins so that they continue to feel the pain.
The Quran makes it clear that pain is dependent upon on the skin. The discovery of pain receptors in the skin is a fairly recent discovery for Biology.
Conclusion
These are just some of the many scientific facts found in the Quran. It is important to note that the Quran is not a book of science, but that it is consistent with science. To claim that scientific facts in the Quran are due to coincidence would be irrational. The best explanation is that God revealed this knowledge to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
Just like the Quran contains knowledge about the natural world, it also contains information about the inner dimensions of our souls. It relates to our feelings, wants and needs. The Quran informs us that we have a purpose in life, and that following God’s guidance will lead us to inner peace in this life, and Paradise in the hereafter. And that rejection of his message will lead to depression in this life and Hellfire after death.
We shall show them Our signs in the Universe and within themselves, until it becomes clear to them that this is the Truth. Is it not enough that your Lord is the witness of all things? [Quran 41:53]

Islam; The Rational Faith:
Any rational person with scientific knowledge will come to the conclusion that (unlike normal religious scriptures) Qur’an never contradicts or conflicts with modern established science & logic…There are numerous scientific miracles mentioned in the Qur’an which have only recently been discovered by modern science. This is a book revealed 1400 years ago to a unlettered man (prophet Mohammad, peace be upon him) who could neither read nor write.
The Qur’an has recorded such amazing scientific information that many elite scientists & Atheists have embraced Islam. Some prominent examples include Professor Keith Moore, Dr Maurice Bucaille, Dr. Jeffrey Lang, Dr. Laurence Brown, and others (full list available on request or check them on http://www.youtube.com ). Please check out some of the following Quranic verses from the following videos which refer many areas of scientific phenomena: The Deen Show: The Top 5 Arguments For The Existence of God, No Brainer by Yusuf Estes, Qur’an & Modern Science by Dr Zakir Naik) & ‘You will be Judged’ by Khalid Yasin & many others which are available on request. Islam means submission to the Will of Al-Mighty God (Allah-One God Alone). Islam does not mean Mohammedanism & Muslims are not Mohammedans because he who worships Prophet Mohammad has left the fold of Islam. Prophet Mohammad is not the founder of Islam but he is the Last Messenger & Final Prophet of God {thus his teachings should be followed until the end of time}. Muslims are not allowed to worship anyone or anything other than God-Al-Mighty alone, not Mohammad, Jesus, Moses (peace be upon them) or any other beings. However Muslims do love & respect all these prophets & messengers but do not worship them nor call upon them in need or in prayer. This is Islam, the pure, rational & the ONLY truly monotheistic faith which does not liken the Creator to His 1 creation.
Some people allege that prophet Mohammad copied from their religious books regarding the scientific verses but they fail to realise that had this been the case, why then is there not a single scientific error in the Qur’an? Given that these other religious texts contain numerous scientific errors, how could Mohammad (pbuh) have known which parts were scientifically accurate and which were not? Thus these allegations are illogical! In fact God admonishes their false claims in the following Qur’anic verse 2:79 ” Woe to those who write the book with their own hands, and then say: This is form Allah, to traffic with it a miserable price! Woe to them for what their hands do write and woe to them for what they earn!”
Proving the Creator; There are four proofs or pieces of evidence for the existence of a Creator Firstly: The Law of Cause and Effect or Causality {Cosmological Argument}
For anything to happen there must be a cause e.g. whatever we see must have come into being because it was made or that some event occurred which caused it to come into being. The ultimate cause for everything is The Creator of the universe.
Wondering who made the Creator? The answer is very easy: Most of the scientists would agree that the universe is finite for it cannot go on forever and it started with the big bang and it is still expanding-‘The Big Bang Theory’ and it was not just the ‘matter’ that came into being but also it was even The Laws of The Universe that came into being. Therefore, The Laws of The Universe are within this finite universe which is constructed with a space-time continuum. This means that space and time are linked together within this universe, this is agreed by most scientists. The Creator is not within this universe; therefore, he is not constrained by space and time, he does not have a beginning and consequently does not need a Creator. A scientist would agree that anything outside this universe is outside this space time continuum.
Secondly: The Precision and design in The Universe {Teleological Argument}.
The second piece of evidence for the existence of the Creator is the complexity and the precision in the design of the universe. This would point to ‘intelligence’ in the design. This intelligence would point to an intelligent being; who is The Creator.
Thirdly: The lives of certain very good human beings who came with an identical message and claimed to be sent by God. These were Messengers of God. There were many of these Messengers or Prophets. For example: Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Solomon, Joseph, Jacob, Jesus and finally Mohammad [peace be upon them all].
Were these people normal, mad or deluded? These Prophets were incredibly good people and to prove that they were sent by God, they all performed miracles. They claimed that they performed these miracles with the power of Almighty God.
For Example: Moses [peace be upon him] parted the red sea [with God’s power] and the children of Israel escaped from The Pharaoh.
Jesus [peace be upon him] brought the dead back to life, healed the leper and cured the person who was born blind; all with God’s power
Mohammad [peace be upon him] was given a miracle as great as, if not greater than, the earlier prophets. The miracle is present today and it is The Qur’an.
Fourthly: The Miraculous Qur’an. This book is a miracle for a number of reasons. This book proves that; there is A Creator and that Mohammad was a true Prophet of Almighty God and that Islam is true. And that the purpose of our life is to worship our Creator though the Creator does not need us but it is in our best interest that we should beseech Him in order to attain permanent success in this life and more importantly hereafter where there is gardens underneath which rivers flow, rivers of honey, milk and wine and to reject then an eternal abode in Hell-Fire with no escape route.
Furthermore, we can also prove from the character/biography of Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) that he was not a liar as (1) The non-Muslims of his time used to call him al-Amin (the trustworthy) & as-Siddiq (meaning the truthful) and (2) If Prophet Mohammad (God-Forbid) was the author of Qur’an, how come the Qur’an is promoting/elevating other prophets like Adam, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses & Jesus (pbut) instead of himself? Why would Prophet Mohammad say that the mother of Jesus (Virgin Mary (pbuh)) was the chosen woman above all nations? If he was the author, surely he would have chosen his own mother, wife or any Arab woman. Why did he mention a Jewess? (3) He was not after money or fame as he was offered all the wealth of the Arabs at the time & was offered a kingdom on the condition that he abandons his mission to promote Islam. He refused & responded by saying “by Allah, if you place the sun in my right hand & the moon in my left hand, I will never give up this message until I perish therein”. (4) There was a solar Eclipse the day his son (named Ibrahim) died & people were saying look the day is being darkened due to respect for the son of the Prophet but. Instead of using this situation to promote himself or elevate his status with the people he instead said while pointing up to the sky “This is the sun and this is the moon, they’re from the signs of Allah, & they do not rise or set or eclipse for the death or birth of any man, so when you see this, pray to your Lord” & he taught us the prayer of the eclipse.
Are these not the words of a prophet? Amongst many proofs of his prophet hood we have only mentioned 4. Now it’s your choice to accept or reject to worship the One Who sent this Prophet & The One Who created you and the Universe.
Unlike other religions & philosophies Islam is unique because it represents a complete way of life, to the extent that it even teaches its followers how to clean themselves, worship, interact with others & even how (morally) to go to bed, the toilet & other daily activities including sexual relations between husband & wife. All of these things are considered forms of worship because they prevent corruption & allow us to live our lives in a way that pleases our Creator.
If you’re still not convinced of the creation of the world by God but believe in the Big Bang then consider this: the Qur’an says in Surah Anbiya 21:30 that Big Bang did happen (“Do the unbelievers not see, that the heavens & the earth were joined together (as one unit body) and We1 split them asunder”). If you allege that we’re a product of random selection/chance then I suggest you think again as we know that ‘nothing comes from nothing’. If there isn’t a Creator then how comes all the galaxies/planets are in such perfect order? Even a small explosion creates chaos, so how can whole galaxies swim smoothly in the Milky-way (orbits) after a HUGE explosion (the Big Bang)?
Do you ever ask yourself the question “who created God”? This is as illogical as asking the question “If Mr. John gave birth to a child, is the child a girl or boy?”. If you’re intelligent, you’ll say “a man (Mr. John) cannot give birth” so the question itself is flawed & illogical. Hence the question “who created God” is similarly illogical, as God is uncreated and He is the Creator. Finally, Islam is not just a religion but a complete way of life..though Qur’an is not a book of science it contains scientific miracles. Everything in the Qur’an is presented in a logical and intelligent manner. Even though it was revealed over 1400 years ago it is a religion for all times & its laws will never become out of date. A religion for all times & all peoples, The Universal Faith.
PS. For those Philosophers who deny Allah/God-Almighty (after clear proofs have been given to them) we have the following response: “According to you there’s no God due to a lack of testable evidence. You reason that if you don’t see, hear or smell God then He doesn’t exist. However I don’t see, hear or smell your brain, so does this mean that you don’t have a brain?”
To become a Muslim one should make the following declaration of faith (preferable before 2 witnesses): “There is no god worthy of worship but Allah and Mohammad is His Final prophet & the Last Messenger of Allah.
Footnote: 1 The word He or His used above for God is not gender-based but rather (Huwa: He) an Arabic expression of honour. The word 1 We (Nahno or Khalaqna) used for God (above) is not a term of plurality but rather represents the royal style of respect when referring to oneself like when a king or queen addresses their people e.g.” we have decreed so & so…”
NB; In over 1400 years the Qur’an has not changed by even a single letter, let alone a word. It is exactly how it was revealed to Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) via Angel Gabriel. 100% pure and uncorrupted. The Glorious Qur’an challenges all humankind (with easy but stern challenge) to try produce just a chapter somewhat similar like unto Qur’an (“And if you are in doubt as to that which We have revealed to Our servant (Prophet Mohammad), then produce one chapter somewhat like it (min mithlihi) and call on your witnesses besides Allah if you are truthful. But if you cannot do it and for a surety/fact (challenge) you can NOT do it, then be prepared for the Fire (of Hell) whose fuel is men and stones it is prepared for the unbelievers!!” Qur’an 2:23-24.. ..Qur’an is the Book of facts: “Say; the Truth has come and falsehood perished. For falsehood is by its nature bound to perish” 17:81. The Qur’an has enough ‘Proof’ to satisfy a commoner as well as an elite Scientist… The Book that has been memorized cover to cover (entirely) by billions of people (Muslims around different parts of the World) despite most of them not even being Arab. .. .

My dear All religion is conspiracy!, Thank you for tiring your fingers in typing your opinion, In my religion we [Muslims] have a Rational faith thus we believe in ‘Proof’ & I had to write Qur’an, Sahih Bukhari & Sahih Muslim so that no one can make allegations or divert you to other sources which are alien to Islam, and I am not here to guide you, I only suggest and ask consideration of such due to the fact that my religious book [Quran] urges me to do and it is the book that ‘CHALLENGES’ people of ALL ranks to find a contradiction [even one discrepancy] in it, and then you can criticize it all you want hence a book that gives you falsification test deserves to be heard.
Nevertheless, you do not have to accept it as “There is no compulsion in the Religion, Truth stands out clear from error” [Quran 2:256] and [41:53] “We [God] will show them Our proofs in the horizons, and within themselves, until it is clear to them that this is the truth. Is your Lord not sufficient as a witness of all things?”
So I am compelled to request you all to consider reading this book that despite being 1400 years old, has no contradiction and it has not been changed nor corrupted and has enough ‘PROOF’ to satisfy Logical and sane human beings that there is A Creator, Who is as we ‘Prove’ in the following way as well:

These Prophets were incredibly good people and to prove that they were sent by God, they all performed miracles. They claimed that they performed these miracles with the power of Almighty God.
For Example: Moses [peace be upon him] parted the red sea [with God’s power] and the children of Israel escaped from The Pharaoh.
Jesus [peace be upon him] brought the dead back to life, healed the leper and cured the person who was born blind; all with God’s power
Mohammad [peace be upon him] was given a miracle as great as, if not greater than, the earlier prophets. The miracle is present today and it is The Qur’an.
Fourthly: The Miraculous Qur’an. This book is a miracle for a number of reasons. This book proves that; there is A Creator and that Mohammad was a true Prophet of Almighty God and that Islam is true. And that the purpose of our life is to worship our Creator though the Creator does not need us but it is in our best interest that we should beseech Him in order to attain permanent success in this life and more importantly hereafter where there is gardens underneath which rivers flow, rivers of honey, milk and wine and to reject then an eternal abode in Hell-Fire with no escape route.

‘Proof’ of Truthfulness of the Muslims belief [Islam]
Before we look at the Islamic answer to the purpose of life this article explains the reasons why Islam is the truth.
Ever since the dawn of mankind, we have sought to understand nature and our place in it. In this quest for the purpose of life many people have turned to religion. Most religions are based on books claimed by their followers to be divinely inspired, without any proof. Islam is different because it is based upon reason and proof.
There are clear signs that the book of Islam, the Quran, is the word of God and we have many reasons to support this claim:
There are scientific and historical facts found in the Quran which were unknown to the people at the time, and have only been discovered recently by contempory science.
The Quran is in a unique style of language that cannot be replicated, this is known as the ‘Inimitability of the Quran.’
There are predictions made in the Quran and by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) which have come to be pass.
This article lays out and explains the scientific facts that are found in the Quran, centuries before they were ‘discovered’ in contemporary science. It is important to note that the Quran is not a book of science but a book of ‘signs’. These signs are there for people to recognise God’s existence and affirm His revelation. As we know, science sometimes takes a ‘U-turn’ where what once scientifically correct is false a few years later. In this article only established scientific facts are considered, not just theories or hypothesis.
Scientific Facts in the Quran
The Quran was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the 7th century.
Science at the time was primitive, there were no telescopes, microscopes or anything even close to the technology we have today. People believed that the sun orbited the earth and that the sky was held up by big pillars at the corners of a flat earth. Within this backdrop the Quran was revealed, and it contains many scientific facts on topics ranging from astronomy to biology, geology to sociology.
Some people may claim that the Quran was changed as new scientific facts were discovered but this cannot be the case because it is a historically documented fact that the Quran is preserved in its original language [2]. The Quran was written down and memorised by people during the lifetime of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). One of the copies of the Quran which was written a few years after the death of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is preserved in a museum in Uzbekistan. This copy is over 1400 years old and is exactly the same as the Arabic Quran that we have today[3].
The following are nine scientific facts found in the Quran:
1. Origin of Life
Water is essential for all living things. We all know that water is vital to life but the Quran makes a very unusual claim:
We made every living thing from water? Will they not believe? [21:30]
In this verse water is pointed out as the origin of all life. All living things are made of cells. We now know that cells are mostly made up of water [4]. For example, 80% of the cytoplasm (basic cell material) of a standard animal cell is described as water in biology textbooks.
The fact that living things consist mostly of water was discovered only after the invention of the microscope. In the deserts of Arabia, the last thing someone would have guessed is that all life came from water.
2. Iron
Iron is not natural to the earth. It did not form on the earth but came down to earth from outer space. This may sound strange but it’s true. Scientists have found that billions of years ago the earth was stuck by meteorites. These meteorites were carrying Iron from distant stars which had exploded [5].
The Quran says the following on the origin of Iron:
We sent down Iron with its great inherent strength and its many benefits for humankind [57:25]
God uses the words ‘sent down’ for Iron. It is clear from the verse that Iron is not an earthly material, but was sent down for the benefit of humanity. The fact that Iron came down to earth from outer space, is something which could not be known by the primitive science of the 7th century.
3. Sky’s Protection
The sky plays a crucial role in protecting the earth. The sky protects the earth from the lethal rays of the sun. If the sky did not exist then the sun’s radiation would have killed off all life on earth. It also acts like a blanket wrapped around the earth, to protect it from the freezing cold of space. The temperature just above the sky is approximately -270oC. If this temperature was to reach earth then the planet would freeze over instantly. The sky also protects life on earth by warming the surface through heat retention (greenhouse effect), and reducing temperature extremes between day and night [6]. These are some of the many protective functions of the sky.
The Quran asks us to consider the sky in the following verse:
We made the sky a protective ceiling. And yet they are turning away from Our signs! [21:32]
The Quran points to the sky’s protection as a sign of God. The protective properties of the sky were discovered by scientific research conducted in the 20th century.
4.Mountains
The Quran draws our attention to a very important characteristic of mountains:
Did We not make the earth a resting place? And the mountains as stakes? [78:6-7]
The Quran indicates that mountains have deep roots by using the word stakes to describe them. In fact mountains do have deep roots [7], and the word stakes is an accurate description for them. A book titled ‘Earth’ by Geophysicist Frank Press explains that mountains are like stakes, and are buried deep under the surface of the earth [8].Mount Everest (pictured below), the height of which is approximately 9 km above ground, has a root deeper than 125 km.
The fact that mountains have deep ‘stake’ like roots was not known, until after the development of the theory of plate tectonics in the beginning of the 20th century [9].
5. Expansion of the Universe
At a time when the science of Astronomy was still primitive, the expansion of the universe was described in Quran:
And it is We who have built the Universe with [Our creative] power and keep expanding it. [51:47]
The fact that the universe is expanding was discovered in the last century. The physicist Stephen Hawking in his book ‘A Brief History of Time’ writes, “The discovery that the universe is expanding was one of the great intellectual revolutions of the 20th century.”[10].
The Quran mentioned the expansion of the universe even before the invention of the telescope!
6. Sun’s Orbit
In 1512 the astronomer Nicholas Copernicus put forward his theory that the Sun is motionless at the centre of the solar system, and that the planets revolve around it. The belief that the Sun is stationary was widespread amongst astronomers until the 20th century. It is now a well-established scientific fact that the Sun is not stationary, but is moving in an orbit around the centre of our Milky Way galaxy [11].
The Quran mentions the orbit of the Sun:
It is He who created night and day, the Sun and the Moon, each floating in its orbit. [21:33]
The Quran would have been wrong according to astronomers just a couple of decades ago. But we now know that the Quranic account of the Sun’s motion is consistent with modern Astronomy.
7. The Ocean
The Quran uses imagery to covey its deep meanings, here it describes the state of the unbelievers as:
Darkness out in a deep ocean which is covered by waves, above which are waves, above which are clouds, layers of darkness, one upon the other. When one puts out his hand [therein], he can hardly see it. Those God gives no light to, they have no light. [24:40]
It is commonly thought that waves only occur on the surface of the ocean. However oceanographers have discovered that there are internal waves that take place below the surface of the ocean. These waves are invisible to the human eye, and can only be detected by specialist equipment [12]. The Quran mentions darkness in a deep ocean above which are waves, above which are waves, then clouds above that. This description is not only remarkable because it describes the internal waves in the ocean, but also because it describes darkness deep in the ocean. A human being can dive no more than 70 metres without breathing equipment. Light is present at that depth, but if we go down 1000 metres it is completely dark [13]. 1400 years ago there were no submarines or specialist equipment to discover internal waves or the darkness deep inside the oceans.
8. Lying and Movement
There was a cruel oppressive tribal leader named Abu Jahl who lived during the time of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). God revealed a verse of the Quran to warn him:
No Indeed! If he does not stop, We will seize him by the forehead, his lying, sinful forehead. [96:15-16]
God does not call this person a liar, but calls his forehead (the front part of the brain) ‘lying’ and ‘sinful’, and warns him to stop.
This verse is significant for two reasons. The first is that the front part of our brain is responsible for voluntary movement [14] .This is known as the frontal lobe. A book titled ‘Essentials of Anatomy and Physiology’ which includes the results of research on the functions of this area states: The motivation and the foresight to plan and initiate movements occur in the anterior portion of the frontal lobes, the prefrontal area [15]. The part of the brain that is responsible for movement is said to be seized if the man does not stop.
Secondly, numerous studies have shown that this same region (frontal lobe) is responsible for the lying function of the brain [16].One such study at the University of Pennsylvania in which volunteers were asked questions during a computerized interrogation, it was found that when the volunteers were lying there was significantly increased activity in the prefrontal and premotor cortices (frontal lobe region) [17].
The front part of the brain is responsible for movement and lying. The Quran links movement and lying to this area. These functions of the frontal lobe were discovered with medical imaging equipment which was developed in the 20th century.
9. Pain Receptors
For a long time it was thought that the sense of feeling and pain was dependent on the brain. However it has been discovered that there are pain receptors present in the skin [18]. Without these pain receptors, a person would not be able to feel pain.
Consider the following verse on pain:
We shall send those who reject Our revelations to the (Hell) Fire. When their skins have been burned away, We shall replace them with new ones so that they may continue to feel the pain: God is Almighty, All-Wise. [4:56]
God tells the people who reject his message that when they are in Hell and their skins are burnt off (so they can’t feel any pain), he will give them new skins so that they continue to feel the pain.
The Quran makes it clear that pain is dependent upon on the skin. The discovery of pain receptors in the skin is a fairly recent discovery for Biology.
Conclusion
These are just some of the many scientific facts found in the Quran. It is important to note that the Quran is not a book of science, but that it is consistent with science. To claim that scientific facts in the Quran are due to coincidence would be irrational. The best explanation is that God revealed this knowledge to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
Just like the Quran contains knowledge about the natural world, it also contains information about the inner dimensions of our souls. It relates to our feelings, wants and needs. The Quran informs us that we have a purpose in life, and that following God’s guidance will lead us to inner peace in this life, and Paradise in the hereafter. And that rejection of his message will lead to depression in this life and Hellfire after death.
We shall show them Our signs in the Universe and within themselves, until it becomes clear to them that this is the Truth. Is it not enough that your Lord is the witness of all things? [Quran 41:53]

I do not follow any organised religion, but am very interested in religious history. If you watch a “good” documentary about Mohammed, and I have seen many, you will understand what he did was revolutionary. He believed in peace, he believed in every man is equal, he believed in women’s rights…you only have to look at is 20 plus year marriage to his first wife. Yes, he did marry multiple wives after that time, but it is widely believed this was done from a strategic point of view to bring peace to all the tribes….and it worked. I am not saying he didn’t love any of the multiple wives….who really knows.
One must also remember that polygamy was common place back in those times and having multiple wives was the “norm” in that time, so the fact that he only had 1 wife for 20 years was actually very unique in that era.
He believed in respect and he certainly didn’t believe in killing anyone who didn’t want to follow Islam.
I really believe Mohammed and other prophets like Jesus would be scratching their heads thinking “how could they get it all wrong”. It has gone wrong because people after them changed interpretations to suit their situations at the time. That is, they changed things for personal gain, notoriety and power. In regard to Christianity, you only have to look at how many times the Bible has been changed over the centuries to suit ruling Pope’s etc.
If people got back to the basic message of Mohammed and Jesus, we would indeed have world peace.
Also, Mohammed did not hate the Jews….again look into the history. The reason he killed the Jews was because of treason against Medina. If the people committing treason where Christians, pagans, whatever, they would have been killed….it was not because they were Jews. Remember this was the punishment of the time for treason. Not so long ago, it was still the punishment for treason.
Mohammed was a peace activist. If you study the history, you only have to look at his trip to Mecca, and the agreement he made with the ruling class at the time, to understand this.
It is totally unfair to “brand” all Muslims the same….of course there are some extremists that have misinterpreted the basic message of Mohammed, but then of course there are many Christians who have misinterpreted the message of Jesus.
In my opinion, the basics of Islam is beautiful…..peace, respect, harmony and unfortunately there is a minority (absolute minority, when you consider the number of people who follow Islam), who are doing damage.
On a final note, whether you believe in Islam or not, can you imagine life with peace, respect and harmony…who can argue with that.

According to Coran, Abraham and Adam were respected MUSLIMS.. OK, so you can be a Muslim without being introduced to Coran , Torah and Bible.
All who believe in and pray a single GOD (ALLAH) instead of many gods are therefore may be considered MUSLIM. They may not be ISLAM if they are not practicing rules of Coran, but just like ADAM and Abraham they can be Muslim.

1st Naz, I suggest u differentiate between the old and new testaments. The christian god prior to Jesus did exhibit many questionable traits when we compare against what we are taught god is like now. Prior to Jesus, he used much more fear and punishment for not listening to his teachings. You talk of other religions, but have u ever honestly read and considered them? I don’t believe that a person can make informed choices about their faith without understanding why they favor one over another. Regardless of the faith, at least with monotheistic religions, it doesn’t matter cause I truly believe that God, or whatever one chooses to label the higher power, will guide a person to whatever religion will guide and help them the best. You can argue all u want but most religions are very similar, with different names for things. If anything it should b orthodox v non, in regard to most religions. The problem is that religion has been turned into a vehicle of power, w God secondary. Even in Islamic states, it is used as power. Just consider the wide range of practices considered Islamic and how it varies from say Morocco to Indonesia. Christianity is the same way. It depends how it was introduced to a society, what their previous beliefs were, and on many other variables. There is no universal agreement on interpretation of these divine writings, and that is another problem. Believe your religion is the best, as one should, but still b open minded so it is a true choice and not just convenient acceptance

What we really need to do is to become literate, thinking adults, and to stop trying to find god in a book – any book. We need to stop believing what we have been told to believe and instead use our own eyes and our own minds to comprehend the reality that we all share.
We need to stop behaving like the Hatfields and the McCoys and simply stop the senseless, evil, cowardly killing of innocents. Either that or for those people who are intent on killing for one reason or another, just start with yourself, for you are the most deserving of death.
And if you are a muslim, fasten your seatbelt, your world just got even harder after the Boston Marathon incident.
Unfortunately, there really is no way to end religions – any attack on a religious person, either mentally or physically, will in general only make them believe even more strongly – this is completely stupid, of course, but believing in the religious works of the world is proclaiming yourself a non-thinking sheep anyway.
Religious people are without faith and without belief because they are merely borrowing some long dead persons beliefs and calling them their own.
The Truth has already come. He is a living God, Jesus is his name.

I think that all religions have some violence. Some people interpret religion to justify their own violent actions. We have people here in America that kill their entire flock in the name of religion. So, it doesn’t really matter what religion you practice, there will be a small minority of believers that want to kill in the name of God. These people will always exist and all of us HUMANS need to be vigilant, honest, and open to recognize and prevent the actions of these extremists. What doesn’t make sense to me is the killing of non-muslims by radicalists that want everyone to have their beliefs, yet they kill people before giving them a chance to convert. If you kill everyone, who will be left to praise allah?

All forms of religion do horrible things. Lying for control and telling people they will go to hell for thinking for themselves. I dont mean to force my opinion on anyone but if you get through a struggle in your life or experience a “miracle” who do you have to thank for that? Yourself and the people around you. Same goes for the opposite. Sure it gives people hope that when they die they will be rewarded or whatever, but the fact is the only thing that religion has done for anyone is cause war, hate, and fear. Dont follow something because you were raised that way. The thing that makes us human is our curiosity. Ask questions about everything learn the facts before dedicating your life to something made up by people a long time ago to control. Dont ask your priest or whoever read a science book, i guarantee the universe only being 10,000 years will make no sense at all. The only way to unite as the human race is if we all educate ourselves the universe is 14 billion years old, earth is six billion, and in the six billion years the materials just happened to come together to create life and then it evolved. I know for a fact if a christian or catholic is reading this your first reaction will be defending what you think you know, but i will respond go do some research with an open mind.

I definitely know that there is a god that created us. I also know that this god has no consiousness other than what we lend it. Its called the universe. You are made of it, completely. You are dirt, water and sunshine evolved to the point that you can look at yourself and say “I am dirt, water and sunshine!”.
Miracles aren’t done by prophets or jesus or any other spiritual sprite – the whole of our existence, every moment, every atom, is itself a miracle. That there is a here to exist on at all is a miracle. And if there happens to be a life after death, it would not be one iota more miraculous than the one you are living right now – both are completely improbable.
Just where do you think here actually is – when you travel far enough away from here, eventually the whole of reality washes up on a beach that doesn’t even exist.
You want to see god, open your eyes – everything you see is it.
