Star Trek vs Star Wars

Star Trek and Star Wars are not the same as some people think; they are quite different in almost all aspects.

Well, one of the main differences that have been said is that Start Trek is a science fiction and Star War is a science fantasy.

Star Wars give more importance to the battle between good and evil, which is considered to be taking place a very long time ago in a far away galaxy. On the other hand, Start Trek shows the adventures of humans and aliens in the Star fleet.

One of the most influential elements in Star Wars is “Force”, which is considered to be an omnipresent energy. Some of the characters that have the ability are shown to harness this “Force”. A Character having the element of “Force” is shown to have supernatural powers like mind control, telekinesis, precognition and clairvoyance.

In Star Trek, once can come across conflicts and political dimensions, which can be called as an allegory to the contemporary cultural reality. Some of the issues that finds place in Start Trek include personal loyalty, war and peace, authoritarianism, imperialism, economics, sexism, class warfare, racism, human rights and feminism.

George Lucas conceived star Wars, which has the influence of Flash Gordon adventure serials of 1940s. The first Start Wars film was released on May 25, 1977. On the other hand, the original Star Trek created by Gene Roddenberry in 1966 was an American television series. Well, the first Star Trek film was released in 1979.

Well, when Star Wars are based on elitist and authoritarian philosophy, Star Trek’s philosophy is based on progressive and egalitarian spirit.
