Difference Between Tacoma and Tundra

Tacoma vs Tundra

Tacoma and Tundra are class vehicles from Toyota. Both the Tacoma and Tundra come in three cab styles with three bed sizes. However, both these vehicles have more differences than the similarities.

While the Tacoma can accommodate five persons, the Tundra can accommodate six passengers. The Tundra is considered to be the better of the two vehicles when talking about interior dimensions as it has a taller, longer, and wider interior. The Tundra has a wheel base of 145.7 inches when compared to the Tacoma which has a wheel base of 127.4 inches.

The Tundra also is a winner when comes to towing capacity. It has the capacity to tow up to 10,800 pounds whereas the Tacoma can only tow up to 6,500 pounds.

Now let us look at the engines of the two Toyota cabs. The Tundra is equipped with four power train options: 4.0-liter, 236 horsepower, V6 engine; 4.6-liter, 310-horsepower, V-8 engine; 5.7-liter, 381 horsepower, flex-fuel V-8; and 5.7-liter, 381-horsepower, V-8 engine.

The Tacoma comes with either a 2.7-liter, 159-horsepower, in-line 4 engine or a 4.0-liter V6, 236-horsepower engine.

When comparing the fuel economy, Tacoma has an edge over the Tundra. While the Tundra gives 14-15 miles per gallon in the city and 18-20 miles per gallon on the highways, Tacoma gives 14-20 miles per gallon in the city and 18-26 miles per gallon on the highways.

Tacoma comes with a rear-view monitor system that has a small camera in the tailgate handle. Tacoma has a good entertainment system with five different audio systems with ceiling-mounted speakers. JBL sound system, six-CD changer, MP3, Bluetooth, and XM Satellite Radio are some of the features that it comes with. The Tacoma also comes with heated front seats as an option, but it does not have leather upholstery. The Tundra also comes with almost all the same entertainment systems. Unlike the Tacoma, the Tundra has adjustable leather seats, ventilated seats, and audio control mounted steering wheels.

Both the Tundra and Tacoma come with the most sophisticated safety measures. Both the cabs have side impact/side airbags, driver/front passenger head restraints, electronic stability control, antilock brakes, EBF, and traction control.
