Difference Between Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla

corollaHonda Civic vs Toyota Corolla

The Honda Civic and the Toyota Corolla are both good cars to purchase, with only a few minor differences between them. However, it is useful to know the basic details of these two vehicles before you decide which one to buy.

In terms of their size, they are very similar. Both car models have almost the same leg room, hip room, head room and passenger capacity, although the Toyota Corolla does have a larger cargo volume. The Honda Civic can also be considered wider than the Corolla, and the Corolla greater in height than the Civic.

The horsepower of the two vehicles are also a bit different. The Honda Civic has a horsepower of 140 at 6300 rpm, while the Toyota Corolla has a horsepower of 126 at 6000 rpm. Even though the fuel capacity of both vehicles is the same, the Corolla is more fuel efficient, achieving 32 miles per gallon in the city and 41 miles per gallon on the highways. The Honda Civic provides an average of 30 miles per gallon in the city and 38 miles per gallon on the highways. The Toyota Corolla will therefore be more affordable when it comes to gas bills.

Both the Honda Civic and the Toyota Corolla have many superb features, although the same features are not found in both car models. The basic model of the Toyota Corolla comes with brake assist, Bluetooth cell phone links, a CD changer, intermittent wipers and cargo mats. These features are absent in the Honda Civic, and will have to be installed at the owner’s expense should they be necessary. However, the Honda Civic does have daytime running lights and dual threshold front airbags, and these features are not present in the Toyota Corolla.

Other features included in the basic model of the Toyota Corolla, but not in the Honda Civic, are door panel trims and sport suspension for the wheels. The Civic though does have an iPod integration built into its basic model.

Summary:

The Toyota Corolla is more fuel efficient than a Honda Civic.

Considering their prices, the Honda Civic costs about $2500 less than the Toyota Corolla.

The Honda Civic has fewer added features in its basic model than the Toyota Corolla; which does include features like door panel trims, Bluetooth and CD changers.

The Toyota Corolla can be considered as the better car between these two models, as it is more fuel efficient and has a number of added features included in its price.
