Difference Between Kaspersky Antivirus and Internet Security

computerKaspersky Antivirus vs Internet Security

Kaspersky Antivirus is an antivirus program that protect users from any malicious software entering their hard drive. For the most part, Kaspersky Antivirus is used for computers that run Microsoft Windows, or Macintosh OS X.

Internet Security is basically what the name implies, and is any set of precautions taken to ensure that a user’s computer is not infested with malicious software programs, spying software, or any other software that may take information sent across a network and use it in a way that proves harmful to the user or his computer.

Kaspersky Antivirus was specifically created to use real-time protection (i.e. protection that is in place as soon as any threat is detected). It was created to detect and remove anything harmful from a user’s computer, including, but not limited to, viruses, Trojans, worms, and spyware. It also used to detect and remove root kits – a software system that harbors one or more programs which hide any compromise in the system under a virtual shadow.

Internet Security, and more specifically, Kaspersky Internet Security, protects a user’s computer from malware and adware. It also detects and removes spam from emails, attempts from third parties to phish someone’s computer, and leaks in data. The broad job of all internet security is to protect one’s computer from all software that may compromise the hard drive – including all forms of malware, spyware and email compromises.

As sophisticated as Kaspersky Antivirus is, it lacks some features that are found in Kaspersky Internet Security. The most notable omissions from Kaspersky Antivirus is a personal firewall (an application in place to control the kind of traffic that comes through someone’s computer over the network), HIPS (Intrusion Prevention System – a device that monitors all traffic coming over a network in order to detect and remove malware or any other suspicious behaviors), Anti-Spam, Anti-Banner, and parental control tools. Kaspersky Antivirus is also incompatible with other types of antivirus and antispyware software.

Summary:

1. Kaspersky Antivirus protects a user’s computer from malware, Trojans, worms and spyware; Internet Security is meant to prevent any and all types of malicious software, or suspicious behavior, from reaching a user’s computer.

2. Kaspersky Antivirus removes root kits; Internet Security removes all forms of spam and phishing software from a computer.

3. Kaspersky Antivirus does not feature a personal firewall, HIPS, Anti-Spam, Anti-Banner, or parental control tools; Internet Security uses any and all means to protect a user’s computer.
