Double Size vs  Queen Size

Can you imagine a home without a bed? Would it be possible for you to take your badly needed sleep and rest on a surface other than the soft comfort of a bed? I don’t think so. The bed is a very important part of our everyday lives, it offers us comfort and rest when we go home at night.

Sleep comes sooner to people who have very comfortable, warm beds. There are beds that are small, intended for little children and there are beds that are meant to accommodate two people. Still there are beds that are so large, a whole family can sleep on them.

Beds can have several designs and sizes and before buying one a person should take into consideration the size of the room in which the bed is to be placed. One should consider the size of the door into which the bed will pass on its way to the room. Once these considerations are met and satisfied, you can now consider what size of bed you need.

For a single person, a single size bed is enough but for more comfort, it is better to get a double size bed instead. If the person or persons who are going to use the bed are larger, a queen size bed is more appropriate.

The double size and queen size differ in their measurements and functionality. Double size beds are meant for people that have smaller frames and it will fit nicely into a smaller room. If placed in a large room, it would look out of place. Double size beds measure 75 inches long and 54 inches wide.

Queen size beds usually measure 80 inches long and 60 inches wide. People, especially couples, often prefer to use a queen size bed rather than a double size bed. It is more comfortable and has a center leg to ensure more durability. It will fit nicely in a larger room of the house.

In other parts of the world, specifically the United Kingdom, queen size is also called king size. The measurements vary between regions and they may differ by a few centimeters. Queen size beds are more expensive than double size beds though because it is bigger and has added features.
