Difference Between Argon and Krypton Gas fillers For windows
Argon vs Krypton gas fillers for windows
In today’s advanced technology, plain glasses for windows have become unthinkable. The most advanced technology now uses double panes with gas filled inside them. Argon and Krypton are the most filler gases used in windowpanes. Though these two gases are used as fillers, one can come across many differences between the two.
One of the differences that can be noticed is that Argon gas filers are more used than Krypton gas fillers. Argon is expensive and it is about five times as expensive as dry nitrogen. But even then it has become the most preferred choice. This is because Krypton costs much higher than Argon, often 100 times more. This means that in economic terms, Argon gas filled windowpanes are cheaper than Krypton gas filled panes.
One can also see that the concentration of Krypton gas is lower than Argon gas in the atmosphere. Argon makes up almost one percent of the Earth’s atmosphere and it is considered to be the most abundant among the noble gases. Krypton, on the other hand makes up to about one part per million in the atmosphere.
Krypton extraction is costlier than Argon extraction, which makes Krypton more expensive than Argon.
When comparing the benefits, Krypton gas filled windowpanes are more efficient than Argon filled windowpanes. Krypton gas fillers perform better than Argon gas fillers.
Coming to filling of the panes, Krypton gas fillers are used in between windowpanes of narrow width and Argon gas fillers are used for wider width. When Krypton gas fillers perform better in narrow width of 1/4 inches, Argon gas fillers performs best in a wider spacing of 1/2 inches. Normally Argon gas fillers are used in double panes and Krypton gas fillers are used for triple windowpanes.
Argon fillers are most used for residential purposes than Krypton gas fillers. Hough both Argon gas and Krypton gas helps in resisting heat and cold, improving energy efficiency, Krypton is seen to be more efficient.
Summary :
1.Argon gas filers are more used than Krypton gas fillers.
