Difference Between Jeep Wrangler and Rubicon

Jeep Wrangler is an incredibly popular off-roader that’s been around for a very long time. American Motors announced the Wrangler in 1986 as a 1987 model riding on. It was a grand debut for a legend that lives up to its reputation and carries its decades-long legacy till date. Throughout the history following the end of WWII, the Wrangler had improved upon its predecessor’s capability and gone through significant updates. The production of second generation Wranglers, officially known as the TJ versions, started in 1996 and lasted till 2006. The Jeep brand started a new momentum in 2019 with the all-new and incredibly powerful Wrangler Rubicon 392. The Rubicon 392 is probably the most powerful Wrangler ever. Beneath the hood of this powerful SUV lies even more powerful 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine that delivers a whopping 470 hp of power and equally matching 470 lb-ft of torque. The base model comes standard with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine with an addition of eTorque or auto engine start/stop (ESS) delivering 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque; the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 engine delivers up to 260 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque; and 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that cranks out 270 hp at 295 lb-ft torque.

The 2022 Wrangler Rubicon 392 delivers incredible power and torque, thanks to a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine which delivers a breathtaking 470 hp of pure power and 470 lb-ft of torque. The 470 hp engine powers through a quarter mile in 13 seconds, going 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 4.5 seconds.

– The dimensions remain the same in both the Wrangler and the Rubicon. Both the vehicles are a length of full-size SUVs at 4882 mm. The height of the vehicles is 1838 mm and the width is 1894 mm. So, there is no difference in the length, height, and width of the vehicles. However, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, at 10 inches, gets nearly a 2 inch extra ground clearance than the standard Jeep Wrangler (8.3 inches). The 35-inch tires are available with the Xtreme Recon Package straight from the factory for both these vehicles for better off-roading.

– The interior of the Jeep Wrangler is a classic blend of vintage styling and modern, functional features. The standard Wrangler boasts cloth upholstery with hard plastic trim that add a luxurious feel to the off-roader. The Rubicon takes it a bit further with premium seat bolsters, and embroidered leather-trimmed seats. To top it off, the new Rubicon 392 has black leather-trimmed seats and complementing the look and feel is the classic bronze stitching and a custom logo that says 392. Also, the Rubicon 392 is the first Wrangler to feature steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters to have better control of the vehicle transmission.

Apart from that, all the Wrangler models have the same tapering nose design, folded windshields, flared fenders, door-attached mirrors, half doors, and circular headlights.

On the outside, both look almost the same. The interior is where they part ways.
