Difference Between Mozart and Beethoven

Mozart vs Beethoven

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born on January 27, 1756, in Salzburg, Austria. He was a gifted child, composing his first piece at the age of 5, and becoming a court musician at the age of 17. He composed his greatest works in Vienna where he spent most of his adult life.

He was one of the most popular classical composers of his time and also one of the most versatile, composing music of different genres from classical to symphonies, concertos, and operas. In addition to his natural talent, he also learned from others.

His style is marked by clarity, balance, simplicity, and precision. The sound of each note is very clear and pleasant to the ears. It is also defined by his light personality, creating music that is comfortable and very light. He wrote music that can be played even by those with less technical skills or even those with no prior experience. He created music in various moods as well. He died of a disease on December 5, 1791, at the age of 35.

Ludwig van Beethoven, on the other hand, was born on December 16, 1770, in Bonn, Germany. He was one of the most popular classical and romantic composers of his time. He was a fan of Mozart and wanted to study with him but studied with Haydn instead.

Most of his works were made with Mozart’s pieces as models, but his style was very different from Mozart’s as he was a lonely and moody man, qualities which showed in the music he made. He created his music with no one in mind, and the sound of his music is marked by variations and changes.

His works were harder to play for those who are not technically skilled as it was written with the ruthlessness that marked his personality. He was very gifted, though, and continued on composing and performing even after he became deaf.

Like Mozart, he composed music of different genres and with different instruments. His career was marked by three periods; the early period when his music was influenced by Mozart and Haydn, the middle period which was marked by the onset of his deafness, and the late period when he created music with depth. He died on March 26, 1827, at the age of 56.
