Differences Between LG Optimus Pad and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

an LG Optimus Pad vs a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

The Optimus Pad from LG and the Galaxy Tab 10.1 are direct competitors with very similar specs. Despite this, there are still differences between the two that may sway a buyer from one to the other. To start with, the Galaxy Tab has a bigger 10.1-inch screen compared to the Optimus Pad’s 8.9-inch screen. When it comes to displays, bigger is always better as you can have more on your screen and you won’t need to zoom in or out as often. But the screen of the Optimus Pad is capable of displaying 3D images with the use of 3D glasses.

To further reinforce the ability to show 3D images, the Optimus Pad is equipped with dual 5 megapixel cameras that are spaced slightly apart. This allows the camera to take the same photo but at slightly different angles. The two photos are then combined to create a 3D image on the screen. The same goes with video, but the Optimus Pad can only take 3D video up to 720p and only 2D at 1080p. The Galaxy Tab has a higher 8 megapixel camera, but it does not have the 3D capabilities of the Optimus Pad.

Lastly, storage is one area where the two differ. The Galaxy Tab comes in two models; a 32GB model and a 16GB model. On the other hand, the Optimus Pad only comes in a 32GB model. This surely affects the price point of the device, and you don’t have a cheaper option. Both devices are equipped with microSD card slots, though, so you can still use the memory cards that you have around.

As you can clearly see, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 sticks to the basics but amps-up the processing power of the device, improving what it can already do by leaps and bounds. In comparison, the Optimus Pad is a more audacious product that adds new features that are not yet mainstream in these kinds of devices. If you want to be the first to try new things, then the Optimus is right for you. If you want more of the same, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is right up your alley.

Summary:

1. The Galaxy Tab has a bigger screen than the Optimus Pad.
2. The Galaxy Tab has an 8 megapixel camera while the Optimus Pad has dual 5 megapixel cameras.
3. The Optimus Pad can take 3D stills and videos while the Galaxy Tab cannot.
4. The Galaxy Tab comes with two memory options while the Optimus Pad only has a single option.
