When you’re comparing gaming consoles, the two gaming tech giants Microsoft Xbox and Sony PlayStation must be at the center of discussion. These two gaming console producers have been manufacturing gaming consoles for quite some time and to the world wide popularity to the gaming geeks. Let’s check out the basic differences between the Sony PlayStation 3 & the PlayStation 4.

Sony has brought a massive change in the PS4 in terms of performance compared to its predecessor the PS3. The new Sony PS4 supports USB 3.9 ports, whereas the PS3 supported the USB 2.0 ports. This better support means faster transfer speeds among flash drives. The PS4 also brings a completely new model for the DualShock controller namely the DualShock 4. This new controller has a better battery life and also consumes higher power than the DualShock 3 features in the PS3. The Wi-Fi connectivity in the PS4 has been improved supporting faster internet browsing and better gaming over the web. The PS4 also supports the new Bluetooth Version 2.1, which is not supported by the PS3.

Moving in to further technical details, the PS4 is powered by an 8 cored processor and the graphics unit is a mighty AMD Radeon Graphics Core Next Engine. The PS3 was powered by an older model Cell Broadband CPU and the GPU was an RSX Reality Synthesizer manufactured by NVidia. The performance leap in the PS4 is very much notable. The RAM has been boosted to a new height in the PS4 featuring and 8GB GDDR5 RAM whereas the PS3 came out with a 256MB GDDR3 VRAM. That’s pretty much from the comparison section between the last two models of PlayStation from Sony.

  • The PS 4 has a comparatively stronger processor than the PS3.

  • The PS4 comes with AMD Radeon Graphics but the PS 3 comes with NVidia RSX Reality Synthesizer.

  • The PS4 has 8GB of RAM but the PS3 has 256MB VRAM.

  • The PS4 supports USB 3.0 and Bluetooth 2.1, but the PS3 supports USB 2.0 and Bluetooth 2.0.

  • The PS4 comes with the DualShock 4 controller but the PS3 features the DualShock 3 controller.
