Difference Between Dusk and Dawn

If you want to impress your special someone with a terrific date setting, then you must be accurate of the time. There are only two specific times of the day when its already considered ‘romantic’ even without the candle lights, the rose, the chocolate, and the bubbly. These two are the only moments of the day when two of the universe’s most powerful forces combine and melt their colors in the big magnificent canvas called sky.

Dusk and dawn. What beautiful names for beautiful occurring. These moments are called twilight. Now don’t get that mish- mashed with the box office movie (although somehow the idea of the book was really derived from the combination of the power and wonders of daytime and nighttime, which also represents the extreme difference of the vampire and the mortal characters). Twilight in the dictionary means the diffused light from the sky on early mornings and early evenings, just when the sun is below the horizon and the colors are refracted by the atmosphere. In folklores, twilight or two- light is called as the fading daylight and the other waxing night darkness. Dusk and dawn are considered as the most important hours of the 24 hours of the day because this is when one can open portals or dimensions to other worlds (physical or spiritual).

Dawn sets around 6:00 in the morning. It’s the usual time of the day where you can hear the rooster crowing and the birds chirping. It is the time of the day where everything else around you, the trees, the streets, people, and even your own house, stirs to life. Dawn generally represents life; a new beginning, new hope, and the bright future. It’s the time when you get ready for whatever you plan ahead for the day (that is if you were lucky enough to be awake by this hour). Dawn is the coldest part of the day too that is why people all around the planet, no matter the time zone difference, drinks a mug of hot coffee or hot coco just after the break of the dawn. If you observe the break of dawn outside your windows, you could see the lights of the sun combating the darkness of the night, as if telling it that its time is over and the sun came to give life. It’s an overwhelming feeling that sets about a thousand different emotions within the spectator. That is why there is hundreds of poetry written about dawn and the kind of inspiration it gives.

Dusk, on the other hand, signifies the end of the day. But to other people, especially to those who prefer to do nocturnal activities such as partying, it means the beginning of an exciting life. Where dawn gives soothing inspiration, dusk gives excitement and thrill. It’s the time of the day where everything is just too noisy, or everywhere is just too crowded, or everyone is just too stressed. The hustle and bustle of the city screams most at dusk time. Most of the people during this hour are just trying to get home, trying to get past the heavy traffic, wanting to take a rest from the day that he/she had. Just before the sun totally disappears from the horizon to welcome the night, the color of the sky is painted with the rarest color of all: Indigo. Then the moon will rise again with the twinkling stars and someone somewhere is inspired by the majesty of it all.
