Why do you have a pic of pistachios to explain the difference between peanut and groundnut?

You idiot! That is groundnut. Pistachios have only 1 nut per pod. This is clearly a groundnut. You have Indian sounding name and don’t know what a groundnut looks like… Really an idiot!

Indian sounding name does not mean he is supposed to know everything that is popular in India. May be he was born and brought up in the US or in some such country in the west. May be Charan is just a 10 year old kid looking for some answers on the net. May be it WAS pistachios that was posted by the author and later changed to groundnuts after being pointed out! What exactly were YOU doing visiting this page if you knew what groundnuts were (and that too so early in the morning)? Sorry, I don’t mean to be rude, but I would think twice before calling someone an idiot! Ideally, I would never call someone an idiot, because I realize there are so many things I do not know that even a 10 year old child learns in school.

        Cheers!

Agreed! Rude, harsh, judgemental and unnecessary!

This a mature reply to So. We really don’t need to be rude and insultive when using social media to educate and reach out to the public.

How about if you lighten up on all that business of calling someone an idiot? Maybe you’re projecting?

A MORE PROFESSIONAL ARTICLE WITH THAT NAME WOULD INCLUDE PICTURES OF BOTH.
EVEN IF PEANUTS ARE ALSO A KIND OF GROUNDNUTS, WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT AND *SEE* WHAT THE OTHERS ARE AND WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE.
    THANK YOU
PEACE, LOVE & BLESSINGS TO ALL

Rasheedah Z. From what I read here, the author (and several others) says groundnuts is the general name for all nuts that grow inside the soil. Which means groundnut would be a subclass of it. There are some other nuts as mentioned above. I know of Bambara nut. The picture above is one representing peanuts while any picture for groundnuts would be a mix of all kinds of nuts from the ground.

Sure pictures of both labelled side by side would have been a far better explanation
