While this article does raise a few valid points, it couldn’t be further from the truth… meditation isn’t about religion or what you believe. It’s about looking within and seeking the truth. Whoever wrote this article should really check out “Sadhguru” on YouTube.

From a modern, western point of view, Tibetan Buddhism seems to have been co-opted a a sort of spiritual psychiatry which is now generally known a “mindfulness meditation” and has taken a more secular meaning and has more to do with living well in the modern world. Hinduism, on the other hand, can be seen, as the article says, to be more spiritual, with what I see as a pure goal of achieving Samadhi, with any benefits to the individual in this life being merely incidental.

Thank you! A clear and succinct explanation. I am alarmed at the spread of ” mindfulness” in our society today.
