    As I surely hope you have already been told, reuptake inhibitors do NOT inhibit production, but (as the name clearly states) they inhibit re-uptake of these neurotransmitters. That is, in a parable, they inhibit early return to resting state for them, prolonging their action. This compensates for other reasons that might well inhibit the production of these chemicals in favour of strengthening the effect of what is produced.

    As the other comment said “does NOT inhibit production” Wellbutrin (bupropion) is Norepinephrine and dopamine reuptake inhibitors (NDRIs) can help with depression by blocking both norepinephrine and dopamine transporters.
