South Beach is not part of Miami. It is part of Miami Beach from 1st St to 23 St. Miami and Miami Beach are two different cities.

Seriously? I have lived here for 20 years and I can assure you that South Beach is just a part of Miami Beach. SoBe extends from 5th St to 23rd St. SoFi is the neighborhood south of 5th St. Miami Beach is comprised of many different neighborhoods and South Beach is just one; Miami is another city on the mainland reached by crossing several causeways. I am amazed by the stupidity of this article and the fact that it’s actually published and acknowledged as truth! The author clearly needs to be educated as much as the publisher. #AyCarumba!!!

This is wrong. South Beach is not part of Miami.

South beach is a neighborhood/ section of Miami Beach.
23rd street dividing line separates south beach from mid-beach. It’s all Miami Beach and neither is part of Miami. Miami is the main land.

The person who wrote the article is not familiar at all with Miami Beach. The first thing the article needs to say is that Miami Beach is divided into three sectors South Beach, Mid Beach and North Beach. Second, Miami Beach is a city, though part of Miami Dade County, neither Miami Beach nor South Beach (Which is part of Miami Beach) are part of the City of Miami.

South Beach is a section of Miami Beach, not Miami. The only accurate statement in this article is that it was farmland in the 1800s. Lol

I can’t clarify/criticize Prabhat S’s lack of knowledge of Miami Beach and South Beach any more than what has been said succinctly by many already. His incorrect statements are the type that have been polluting global internet sites since the inception of the world wide web. Ironically, media writers outside the South Florida area have also been making this same error as well for years – referring to happenings and situations whose venue is Miami Beach incorrectly as “Miami”. Hollywood is probably a source of this misconception with the old TV shows like “Miami Vice” which showed scenes that were actually in the city of Miami Beach – usually the area of South Beach – making people think that Miami Beach and Miami were the same place. That’s makes about as much sense as saying Oakland and San Francisco, or Chicago and Rockford are the same place.
