XD vs XDM
Members of the armed forces, police force, and those who are authorized and licensed to carry guns, usually get confused when it comes to the difference between the XD and XDM pistols. That is exactly what we will try to discover here.
First of all, here’s a quick preview of the main product, which is the Springfield Armory semi-sutomatic pistol. These are manufactured in the city of Karlovac, Croatia, and were introduced to the market in 1999.
Next, here are the distinct differences between the Springfield Armory XD and XDM models. The XD is actually the main model, while the XDM is a sub-model. In addition to the XDM, some of the other models of the Springfield Armory XD pistols are sub-compact, compact, service pistols, ported V-10, tactical, and the XDM 3.8.
Upon closer inspection, the XD operates on a short-recoil basis. It is also classified as a striker field weapon, which means that there is no external hammer. One thing which sets the Springfield XD models apart from similar guns on the market, is the presence of its grip safety feature. Here, you will not be able to fire the pistol without depressing the lever on the rear of the gun’s grip. The XD model also has a feed system of a detachable box magazine for the armor, and you can use the fixed and illuminated night sights if firing in the dark.
But what about the Springfield XDM model? It has a 4.5′ barrel, and a standard capacity of 16 or 19 rounds. When you compare the XDM to the XD model, the grip is one of the big differences. The XDM has interchangeable grips that adjust to your preferred grip size ‘“ a feature which is not present in the XD model. The XDM also has an ambidextrous magazine release which is longer than that of the XD’s. Finally, the XDM is easier to assemble than the XD.
