Difference Between HTC Sense 2.0 and HTC Sense 3.0

HTC Sense 2.0 vs HTC Sense 3.0

HTC Sense is an application made HTC to provide an alternative interface to the boring interface of Windows Mobile. After HTC jumped ship to Android, they brought Sense along with them since Android’s interface was pretty lacking at that time. Now, HTC has released the third version of Sense in phones like the Sensation. The most noticeable difference between Sense 3.0 and its predecessor, Sense 2.0, is the lock screen. In the previous version, the lock screen is pretty barren. With Sense 3.0, you can choose apps as well as other bits and pieces of information on the lock screen.

Another improvement in Sense 3.0 can be seen in the Clock and Weather apps. These apps now have a lot more detail in them compared to the same apps in Sense 2.0. The Weather app even has animations that feature the expected weather conditions for increased eye candy.

A change in Sense 3.0, which will surely lead to a number of irked users is the scrolling. Unlike in Sense 2.0 where the scrolling is continuous and smooth, Sense 3.0 does so by page. Each swipe transitions a full page that snaps into place. This is actually very useful since you can easily figure out where in the grid the app you are looking for would appear. But, a lot of users have already grown accustomed to the old way. What’s even more aggravating is that HTC did not provide a way to deactivate the new scrolling method.

Then, there is the new HTC Watch application that you can only find in Sense 3.0. The HTC Watch is an application that is tied to the HTC video content delivery service. This is pretty much like any VOD service that streams movies and TV shows to your computer or TV. Except that this on your phone, so you need to ensure that you have an excellent connection via WiFi or 3G.

Aside from those mentioned above, there are also a number of very minor tweaks that were done to improve the performance of Sense 3.0. These minor tweaks include optimizations to adapt to the larger screen resolutions as well as optimizations to take advantage of newer dual core processors.

Summary:

1.Sense 3.0 has a more useful lock screen than Sense 2.0
2.The HTC Clock and Weather widgets have more details in Sense 3.0 than in Sense 2.0
3.Sense 3.0 implements scrolling by pages while Sense 2.0 does so smoothly
4.Sense 3.0 has the HTC Watch application while Sense 2.0 doesn’t
5.Sense 3.0 also features a number of minor tweaks that aren’t present on the Sense 2.0
