Ahmedabad and Pune are metro cities in India. Though these two cities are bustling with activities, they have differences in culture, language, populace, and so on.

Ahmedabad is a city in Gujarat, a state that lies on the eastern part of India. The city is the seventh largest city in terms of size in the country. Ahmedabad lies on the banks of the river Sabarmati. Ahmedabad, which was founded in 1411 by Sultan Ahmad Shah, was Gujarat’s capital until 1970. After this, the capital was shifted to Gandhinagar. Ahmadabad City is known as the commercial and cultural lifeline of the country.

Pune, situated in Maharashtra state, is considered the eighth largest city in the country. Pune is the second largest city in Maharashtra. Pune, founded by Rashtrakootas, was ruled later by Yadavas. The city was ruled by the Mughals and afterwards ruled by the Marathas. But after the death of the greatest Maratha ruler Shivaji, the city again fell into the hands of the Mughals. The city of Pune lies on the western margin of the Deccan Plateau at the confluence of Mula and Mutha rivers.

Ahmedabad is an important center of commerce and trade. The city, which is known for textiles, is also home to a large number of cotton mills. Pune is also an important city and has the second highest per capita income in the country. A prosperous city, Pune has already emerged as an important IT hub. The city also has many engineering, medical colleges, management schools, and law institutions.

When comparing the two cities, Pune has a higher population than Ahmedabad.
