Kaspersky offers a host of home plans as well as SMP plans to choose from; starting from a basic plan which costs $39.95/year for a single device support to the $95.95/year plan which provides support for up to 5 devices. Trend Micro product lineup starts with the company’s free scanner, HouseCall which scans a machine for viruses and malware. Its basic plan costs $39.99/year for one PC which is similar to what Kaspersky offers. Trend Micro offers another plan for support up to 3 devices which costs $79.99/year, which is a little more than Kaspersky’s $75.95/year plan for 3 devices. So, Kaspersky provides the best value for short term.

  1. System Impact 

– System impact is one of the deciding factors when finding the right antivirus protection for your system. While both the antivirus software suite provide good virus and malware protection, Trend Micro’s system impact is unusually heavy, meaning its antivirus products consume too much of system’s resources during system scans. Kaspersky, on the other hand, is pretty light on the system, meaning it consumers less system resources during active scans. Kaspersky antivirus products are lightweight in terms of system performance impact.

Summary of Kaspersky verses Trend Micro

While both offer excellent malware protection and are among the most trusted names in the antivirus arena, Trend Micro’s system impact is unusually heavy, meaning it eats a lot of system resources while scanning for viruses, causing the system to slow down. Kaspersky is a lightweight antivirus program which does not consume much of the system’s resources. Trend Micro is better at malware protection though. However, it does not provide any unlimited plans.
