Tylox vs Percocet
Pain is something that most people have experienced at one time or another. It is a very annoying and awful sensation caused by emotional or physical damage or injury such as stabbing, cutting, burning, or bumping one’s funny bone. It can be mild that it can just be ignored, or it can be severe and has to be treated with a pain medication.
In most cases, pain is a symptom of an illness. When a part of the body is damaged, a certain amount of pain is felt. It can be acute and go away quickly, or it can be chronic and felt for a long time. There are many medications for pain.
While acute pain can be resolved with a mild analgesic, chronic pain usually needs stronger and more potent medication in order for the patient to function normally. Tylox and Percocet are two of the most common pain medications which are used for acute and chronic pain.
Tylox is a medicine for pain that contains acetaminophen and oxycodone hydrochloride. It also contains docusate sodium, titanium dioxide, gelatin, magnesium stearate, sodium benzoate, sodium metabisulfite-1, cornstarch, and FD&C Blue #1, Red #3 and #40.
Acetaminophen is an analgesic and antipyretic while oxycodone is a semi-synthetic analgesic and sedative which is similar to codeine, methadone, and morphine and acts on the nervous system and smooth-muscle organs. It can cause allergic reactions and can be addictive especially if taken over a long period of time. Care should be taken when having medication other than Tylox because it may aggravate its effects like dizziness, euphoria, nausea, itching, skin rashes, and light-headedness.
Before taking Tylox, it is important that the doctor is informed about all other drugs that the patient is taking including herbal medicines. Certain medical conditions such as liver and prostate problems and several other ailments also require extra care when administering Tylox.
Percocet is a pain reliever which contains paracetamol and oxycodon that was approved by the U.S. FDA in 1976. It is an analgesic which was developed from thebaine and is used for the treatment of severe pain. It is recommended for those experiencing severe pain especially those suffering from cancer. It can be taken orally, intravenously, rectally, or intramuscularly. Patients who have felt adverse effects from morphine are given Percocet.
Some of its effects are anxiety, fatigue, dizziness, euphoria, diarrhea, memory loss, loss of appetite. If there is an overdose, it can cause shallow breathing, miosis, apnea, respiratory arrest, and even death.

Percocet is recommended for those suffering from chronic pain due to cancer while 3.Tylox is recommended for moderate pain, dental and bone pain, and headaches and migraines.
4.Care should be taken when using other medications in addition to Tylox and Percocet.

While much of this post is correct, there is some confusion.
In essence, they are the same medication. Both contain Oxycodone and Acetaminophen. The main difference is in their respective forms; Tylox is a capsule, Percocet is a tablet.
The confusion comes when Paracetamol is mentioned. Its just another name for Acetaminophen. It just depends what part of the world you live in. In the USA, we mostly call it Acetaminophen or by its brand name, Tylenol.
The only other difference is the fact that Tylox comes in one strength and Percocet has several different strengths. Keep in mind, in the USA, Percocet is the brand name for Oxycodone, which affects cost considerably. Hope this helps clear things up.
